  • Genesis 4:12 - When you try to cultivate the ground it will no longer yield its best for you. You will be a homeless wanderer on the earth.”
  • Genesis 4:13 - Then Cain said to the Lord, “My punishment is too great to endure!
  • Genesis 4:14 - Look! You are driving me off the land today, and I must hide from your presence. I will be a homeless wanderer on the earth; whoever finds me will kill me.”
  • 2 Kings 6:33 - He was still talking to them when the messenger approached and said, “Look, the Lord is responsible for this disaster! Why should I continue to wait for the Lord to help?”
  • 1 Samuel 22:13 - Saul said to him, “Why have you conspired against me, you and this son of Jesse? You gave him bread and a sword and inquired of God on his behalf, so that he opposes me and waits in ambush, as is the case today!”
  • 1 Samuel 22:14 - Ahimelech replied to the king, “Who among all your servants is faithful like David? He is the king’s son-in-law, the leader of your bodyguard, and honored in your house!
  • 1 Samuel 22:15 - Was it just today that I began to inquire of God on his behalf? Far be it from me! The king should not accuse his servant or any of my father’s house. For your servant is not aware of all this – not in whole or in part!”
  • 1 Samuel 22:16 - But the king said, “You will surely die, Ahimelech, you and all your father’s house!
  • 1 Samuel 22:17 - Then the king said to the messengers who were stationed beside him, “Turn and kill the priests of the Lord, for they too have sided with David! They knew he was fleeing, but they did not inform me.” But the king’s servants refused to harm the priests of the Lord.
  • 1 Samuel 22:18 - Then the king said to Doeg, “You turn and strike down the priests!” So Doeg the Edomite turned and struck down the priests. He killed on that day eighty-five men who wore the linen ephod.
  • 1 Samuel 22:19 - As for Nob, the city of the priests, he struck down with the sword men and women, children and infants, oxen, donkeys, and sheep – all with the sword.
  • 1 Samuel 22:20 - But one of the sons of Ahimelech son of Ahitub escaped and fled to David. His name was Abiathar.
  • 1 Samuel 22:21 - Abiathar told David that Saul had killed the priests of the Lord.
  • 1 Samuel 22:22 - Then David said to Abiathar, “I knew that day when Doeg the Edomite was there that he would certainly tell Saul! I am guilty of all the deaths in your father’s house!
  • 1 Samuel 22:23 - Stay with me. Don’t be afraid! Whoever seeks my life is seeking your life as well. You are secure with me.”
  • Isaiah 8:21 - They will pass through the land destitute and starving. Their hunger will make them angry, and they will curse their king and their God as they look upward.
  • Isaiah 8:22 - When one looks out over the land, he sees distress and darkness, gloom and anxiety, darkness and people forced from the land.
  • Numbers 16:19 - When Korah assembled the whole community against them at the entrance of the tent of meeting, then the glory of the Lord appeared to the whole community.
  • Numbers 16:20 - The Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron:
  • Numbers 16:21 - “Separate yourselves from among this community, that I may consume them in an instant.”
  • Numbers 16:22 - Then they threw themselves down with their faces to the ground and said, “O God, the God of the spirits of all people, will you be angry with the whole community when only one man sins?”
  • Numbers 16:23 - So the Lord spoke to Moses:
  • Numbers 16:24 - “Tell the community: ‘Get away from around the homes of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.’”
  • Numbers 16:25 - Then Moses got up and went to Dathan and Abiram; and the elders of Israel went after him.
  • Numbers 16:26 - And he said to the community, “Move away from the tents of these wicked men, and do not touch anything they have, lest you be destroyed because of all their sins.”
  • Numbers 16:27 - So they got away from the homes of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram on every side, and Dathan and Abiram came out and stationed themselves in the entrances of their tents with their wives, their children, and their toddlers.
  • Numbers 16:28 - Then Moses said, “This is how you will know that the Lord has sent me to do all these works, for I have not done them of my own will.
  • Numbers 16:29 - If these men die a natural death, or if they share the fate of all men, then the Lord has not sent me.
  • Numbers 16:30 - But if the Lord does something entirely new, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them up along with all that they have, and they go down alive to the grave, then you will know that these men have despised the Lord!”
  • Numbers 16:31 - When he had finished speaking all these words, the ground that was under them split open,
  • Numbers 16:32 - and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them, along with their households, and all Korah’s men, and all their goods.
  • Numbers 16:33 - They and all that they had went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed over them. So they perished from among the community.
  • Numbers 16:34 - All the Israelites who were around them fled at their cry, for they said, “What if the earth swallows us too?”
  • Numbers 16:35 - Then a fire went out from the Lord and devoured the 250 men who offered incense.
  • Numbers 16:36 - (17:1) The Lord spoke to Moses:
  • Numbers 16:37 - “Tell Eleazar son of Aaron the priest to pick up the censers out of the flame, for they are holy, and then scatter the coals of fire at a distance.
  • Numbers 16:38 - As for the censers of these men who sinned at the cost of their lives, they must be made into hammered sheets for covering the altar, because they presented them before the Lord and sanctified them. They will become a sign to the Israelites.”
  • Numbers 16:39 - So Eleazar the priest took the bronze censers presented by those who had been burned up, and they were hammered out as a covering for the altar.
  • Numbers 16:40 - It was a memorial for the Israelites, that no outsider who is not a descendant of Aaron should approach to burn incense before the Lord, that he might not become like Korah and his company – just as the Lord had spoken by the authority of Moses.
  • Numbers 16:41 - But on the next day the whole community of Israelites murmured against Moses and Aaron, saying, “You have killed the Lord’s people!”
  • 1 Kings 20:42 - The prophet then said to him, “This is what the Lord says, ‘Because you released a man I had determined should die, you will pay with your life and your people will suffer instead of his people.’”
  • 1 Kings 20:43 - The king of Israel went home to Samaria bitter and angry.
  • Psalms 37:7 - Wait patiently for the Lord! Wait confidently for him! Do not fret over the apparent success of a sinner, a man who carries out wicked schemes!
