  • Job 21:11 - They let their children frisk about like lambs. Their little ones skip and dance.
  • Job 21:12 - They sing with tambourine and harp. They celebrate to the sound of the flute.
  • Job 21:13 - They spend their days in prosperity, then go down to the grave in peace.
  • Job 21:14 - And yet they say to God, ‘Go away. We want no part of you and your ways.
  • Job 21:15 - Who is the Almighty, and why should we obey him? What good will it do us to pray?’
  • Job 21:16 - (They think their prosperity is of their own doing, but I will have nothing to do with that kind of thinking.)
  • Job 21:17 - “Yet the light of the wicked never seems to be extinguished. Do they ever have trouble? Does God distribute sorrows to them in anger?
  • Job 21:18 - Are they driven before the wind like straw? Are they carried away by the storm like chaff? Not at all!
  • Job 21:19 - “‘Well,’ you say, ‘at least God will punish their children!’ But I say he should punish the ones who sin, so that they understand his judgment.
  • Job 21:20 - Let them see their destruction with their own eyes. Let them drink deeply of the anger of the Almighty.
  • Job 21:21 - For they will not care what happens to their family after they are dead.
  • Job 21:22 - “But who can teach a lesson to God, since he judges even the most powerful?
  • Job 21:23 - One person dies in prosperity, completely comfortable and secure,
  • Job 21:24 - the picture of good health, vigorous and fit.
  • Job 21:25 - Another person dies in bitter poverty, never having tasted the good life.
  • Job 21:26 - But both are buried in the same dust, both eaten by the same maggots.
  • Job 21:27 - “Look, I know what you’re thinking. I know the schemes you plot against me.
  • Job 21:28 - You will tell me of rich and wicked people whose houses have vanished because of their sins.
  • Job 21:29 - But ask those who have been around, and they will tell you the truth.
  • Job 21:30 - Evil people are spared in times of calamity and are allowed to escape disaster.
  • Job 21:31 - No one criticizes them openly or pays them back for what they have done.
  • Job 21:32 - When they are carried to the grave, an honor guard keeps watch at their tomb.
  • Job 21:33 - A great funeral procession goes to the cemetery. Many pay their respects as the body is laid to rest, and the earth gives sweet repose.
  • Job 21:34 - “How can your empty clichés comfort me? All your explanations are lies!”
  • Psalms 50:8 - I have no complaint about your sacrifices or the burnt offerings you constantly offer.
  • Jonah 1:11 - And since the storm was getting worse all the time, they asked him, “What should we do to you to stop this storm?”
  • Isaiah 10:13 - He boasts, “By my own powerful arm I have done this. With my own shrewd wisdom I planned it. I have broken down the defenses of nations and carried off their treasures. I have knocked down their kings like a bull.
  • Isaiah 10:14 - I have robbed their nests of riches and gathered up kingdoms as a farmer gathers eggs. No one can even flap a wing against me or utter a peep of protest.”
  • Psalms 73:3 - For I envied the proud when I saw them prosper despite their wickedness.
  • Psalms 73:4 - They seem to live such painless lives; their bodies are so healthy and strong.
  • Psalms 73:5 - They don’t have troubles like other people; they’re not plagued with problems like everyone else.
  • Psalms 73:6 - They wear pride like a jeweled necklace and clothe themselves with cruelty.
  • Psalms 73:7 - These fat cats have everything their hearts could ever wish for!
  • Psalms 73:8 - They scoff and speak only evil; in their pride they seek to crush others.
  • Psalms 73:9 - They boast against the very heavens, and their words strut throughout the earth.
  • Psalms 73:10 - And so the people are dismayed and confused, drinking in all their words.
  • Psalms 73:11 - “What does God know?” they ask. “Does the Most High even know what’s happening?”
  • Psalms 73:12 - Look at these wicked people— enjoying a life of ease while their riches multiply.
  • Psalms 73:13 - Did I keep my heart pure for nothing? Did I keep myself innocent for no reason?
  • Psalms 73:14 - I get nothing but trouble all day long; every morning brings me pain.
  • Revelation 13:3 - I saw that one of the heads of the beast seemed wounded beyond recovery—but the fatal wound was healed! The whole world marveled at this miracle and gave allegiance to the beast.
  • Revelation 13:4 - They worshiped the dragon for giving the beast such power, and they also worshiped the beast. “Who is as great as the beast?” they exclaimed. “Who is able to fight against him?”
  • Revelation 13:5 - Then the beast was allowed to speak great blasphemies against God. And he was given authority to do whatever he wanted for forty-two months.
  • Revelation 13:6 - And he spoke terrible words of blasphemy against God, slandering his name and his dwelling—that is, those who dwell in heaven.
  • Revelation 13:7 - And the beast was allowed to wage war against God’s holy people and to conquer them. And he was given authority to rule over every tribe and people and language and nation.
  • Revelation 13:8 - And all the people who belong to this world worshiped the beast. They are the ones whose names were not written in the Book of Life that belongs to the Lamb who was slaughtered before the world was made.
  • Revelation 13:9 - Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.
  • Revelation 13:10 - Anyone who is destined for prison will be taken to prison. Anyone destined to die by the sword will die by the sword. This means that God’s holy people must endure persecution patiently and remain faithful.
  • Galatians 6:9 - So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
  • Joshua 10:12 - On the day the Lord gave the Israelites victory over the Amorites, Joshua prayed to the Lord in front of all the people of Israel. He said, “Let the sun stand still over Gibeon, and the moon over the valley of Aijalon.”
  • Isaiah 8:17 - I will wait for the Lord, who has turned away from the descendants of Jacob. I will put my hope in him.
  • Lamentations 3:25 - The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him.
  • Lamentations 3:26 - So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord.
  • Psalms 62:1 - I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him.
  • Jeremiah 12:1 - Lord, you always give me justice when I bring a case before you. So let me bring you this complaint: Why are the wicked so prosperous? Why are evil people so happy?
  • Psalms 40:1 - I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry.
  • Isaiah 30:15 - This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength. But you would have none of it.
  • Proverbs 20:22 - Don’t say, “I will get even for this wrong.” Wait for the Lord to handle the matter.
  • Habakkuk 2:3 - This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.
  • Psalms 62:5 - Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him.
  • Psalms 27:14 - Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.
  • Hebrews 10:36 - Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.
  • Hebrews 10:37 - “For in just a little while, the Coming One will come and not delay.
  • James 5:7 - Dear brothers and sisters, be patient as you wait for the Lord’s return. Consider the farmers who patiently wait for the rains in the fall and in the spring. They eagerly look for the valuable harvest to ripen.
  • James 5:8 - You, too, must be patient. Take courage, for the coming of the Lord is near.
  • James 5:9 - Don’t grumble about each other, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. For look—the Judge is standing at the door!
  • James 5:10 - For examples of patience in suffering, dear brothers and sisters, look at the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.
  • James 5:11 - We give great honor to those who endure under suffering. For instance, you know about Job, a man of great endurance. You can see how the Lord was kind to him at the end, for the Lord is full of tenderness and mercy.
