Ezekiel 11:1 - A wind lifted me up and brought me to the east gate of the Lord’s temple that faces the east. There, at the entrance of the gate, I noticed twenty-five men. Among them I saw Jaazaniah son of Azzur and Pelatiah son of Benaiah, officials of the people.
Ezekiel 11:2 - The Lord said to me, “Son of man, these are the men who plot evil and give wicked advice in this city.
Ezekiel 11:3 - They say, ‘The time is not near to build houses; the city is a cooking pot and we are the meat in it.’
Ezekiel 11:4 - Therefore, prophesy against them! Prophesy, son of man!”
Ezekiel 11:5 - Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon me and said to me, “Say: This is what the Lord says: ‘This is what you are thinking, O house of Israel; I know what goes through your minds.
Ezekiel 11:6 - You have killed many people in this city; you have filled its streets with corpses.’
Ezekiel 11:7 - Therefore, this is what the sovereign Lord says: ‘The corpses you have dumped in the midst of the city are the meat, and this city is the cooking pot, but I will take you out of it.
Ezekiel 11:8 - You fear the sword, so the sword I will bring against you,’ declares the sovereign Lord.
Ezekiel 11:9 - ‘But I will take you out of the city. And I will hand you over to foreigners. I will execute judgments on you.
Ezekiel 11:10 - You will die by the sword; I will judge you at the border of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord.
Ezekiel 11:11 - This city will not be a cooking pot for you, and you will not be meat within it; I will judge you at the border of Israel.
2 Kings 23:27 - The Lord announced, “I will also spurn Judah, just as I spurned Israel. I will reject this city that I chose – both Jerusalem and the temple, about which I said, “I will live there.”
Isaiah 24:3 - The earth will be completely devastated and thoroughly ransacked. For the Lord has decreed this judgment.
2 Kings 17:20 - So the Lord rejected all of Israel’s descendants; he humiliated them and handed them over to robbers, until he had thrown them from his presence.
Ezekiel 8:11 - Seventy men from the elders of the house of Israel (with Jaazaniah son of Shaphan standing among them) were standing in front of them, each with a censer in his hand, and fragrant vapors from a cloud of incense were swirling upward.
Ezekiel 8:12 - He said to me, “Do you see, son of man, what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the dark, each in the chamber of his idolatrous images? For they think, ‘The Lord does not see us! The Lord has abandoned the land!’”
Ezekiel 8:13 - He said to me, “You will see them practicing even greater abominations!”
Ezekiel 8:14 - Then he brought me to the entrance of the north gate of the Lord’s house. I noticed women sitting there weeping for Tammuz.
Ezekiel 8:15 - He said to me, “Do you see this, son of man? You will see even greater abominations than these!”
Ezekiel 8:16 - Then he brought me to the inner court of the Lord’s house. Right there at the entrance to the Lord’s temple, between the porch and the altar, were about twenty-five men with their backs to the Lord’s temple, facing east – they were worshiping the sun toward the east!
Ezekiel 8:17 - He said to me, “Do you see, son of man? Is it a trivial thing that the house of Judah commits these abominations they are practicing here? For they have filled the land with violence and provoked me to anger still further. Look, they are putting the branch to their nose!
Ezekiel 8:18 - Therefore I will act with fury! My eye will not pity them nor will I spare them. When they have shouted in my ears, I will not listen to them.”
Isaiah 32:13 - Mourn over the land of my people, which is overgrown with thorns and briers, and over all the once-happy houses in the city filled with revelry.
Isaiah 32:14 - For the fortress is neglected; the once-crowded city is abandoned. Hill and watchtower are permanently uninhabited. Wild donkeys love to go there, and flocks graze there.
Isaiah 6:11 - I replied, “How long, sovereign master?” He said, “Until cities are in ruins and unpopulated, and houses are uninhabited, and the land is ruined and devastated,
Isaiah 6:12 - and the Lord has sent the people off to a distant place, and the very heart of the land is completely abandoned.
Jeremiah 25:9 - So I, the Lord, affirm that I will send for all the peoples of the north and my servant, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. I will bring them against this land and its inhabitants and all the nations that surround it. I will utterly destroy this land, its inhabitants, and all the nations that surround it and make them everlasting ruins. I will make them objects of horror and hissing scorn.
Jeremiah 25:10 - I will put an end to the sounds of joy and gladness, to the glad celebration of brides and grooms in these lands. I will put an end to the sound of people grinding meal. I will put an end to lamps shining in their houses.
Jeremiah 25:11 - This whole area will become a desolate wasteland. These nations will be subject to the king of Babylon for seventy years.’
Isaiah 27:10 - For the fortified city is left alone; it is a deserted settlement and abandoned like the desert. Calves graze there; they lie down there and eat its branches bare.
Ezekiel 33:28 - I will turn the land into a desolate ruin; her confident pride will come to an end. The mountains of Israel will be so desolate no one will pass through them.
Micah 4:10 - Twist and strain, Daughter Zion, as if you were in labor! For you will leave the city and live in the open field. You will go to Babylon, but there you will be rescued. There the Lord will deliver you from the power of your enemies.
