  • Ezekiel 35:4 - I will turn your towns into ruins and you will be desolate. Then you will know that I am the Lord.
  • Ezekiel 35:5 - “ ‘Because you harbored an ancient hostility and delivered the Israelites over to the sword at the time of their calamity, the time their punishment reached its climax,
  • Ezekiel 35:6 - therefore as surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, I will give you over to bloodshed and it will pursue you. Since you did not hate bloodshed, bloodshed will pursue you.
  • Ezekiel 35:7 - I will make Mount Seir a desolate waste and cut off from it all who come and go.
  • Ezekiel 35:8 - I will fill your mountains with the slain; those killed by the sword will fall on your hills and in your valleys and in all your ravines.
  • Ezekiel 35:9 - I will make you desolate forever; your towns will not be inhabited. Then you will know that I am the Lord.
  • Ezekiel 35:10 - “ ‘Because you have said, “These two nations and countries will be ours and we will take possession of them,” even though I the Lord was there,
  • Ezekiel 35:11 - therefore as surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, I will treat you in accordance with the anger and jealousy you showed in your hatred of them and I will make myself known among them when I judge you.
  • Ezekiel 35:12 - Then you will know that I the Lord have heard all the contemptible things you have said against the mountains of Israel. You said, “They have been laid waste and have been given over to us to devour.”
  • Ezekiel 35:13 - You boasted against me and spoke against me without restraint, and I heard it.
  • Ezekiel 35:14 - This is what the Sovereign Lord says: While the whole earth rejoices, I will make you desolate.
  • Ezekiel 35:15 - Because you rejoiced when the inheritance of Israel became desolate, that is how I will treat you. You will be desolate, Mount Seir, you and all of Edom. Then they will know that I am the Lord.’ ”
  • Jeremiah 49:7 - Concerning Edom: This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Is there no longer wisdom in Teman? Has counsel perished from the prudent? Has their wisdom decayed?
  • Jeremiah 49:8 - Turn and flee, hide in deep caves, you who live in Dedan, for I will bring disaster on Esau at the time when I punish him.
  • Jeremiah 49:9 - If grape pickers came to you, would they not leave a few grapes? If thieves came during the night, would they not steal only as much as they wanted?
  • Jeremiah 49:10 - But I will strip Esau bare; I will uncover his hiding places, so that he cannot conceal himself. His armed men are destroyed, also his allies and neighbors, so there is no one to say,
  • Jeremiah 49:11 - ‘Leave your fatherless children; I will keep them alive. Your widows too can depend on me.’ ”
  • Jeremiah 49:12 - This is what the Lord says: “If those who do not deserve to drink the cup must drink it, why should you go unpunished? You will not go unpunished, but must drink it.
  • Jeremiah 49:13 - I swear by myself,” declares the Lord, “that Bozrah will become a ruin and a curse, an object of horror and reproach; and all its towns will be in ruins forever.”
  • Jeremiah 49:14 - I have heard a message from the Lord; an envoy was sent to the nations to say, “Assemble yourselves to attack it! Rise up for battle!”
  • Jeremiah 49:15 - “Now I will make you small among the nations, despised by mankind.
  • Jeremiah 49:16 - The terror you inspire and the pride of your heart have deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rocks, who occupy the heights of the hill. Though you build your nest as high as the eagle’s, from there I will bring you down,” declares the Lord.
  • Jeremiah 49:17 - “Edom will become an object of horror; all who pass by will be appalled and will scoff because of all its wounds.
  • Jeremiah 49:18 - As Sodom and Gomorrah were overthrown, along with their neighboring towns,” says the Lord, “so no one will live there; no people will dwell in it.
  • Jeremiah 49:19 - “Like a lion coming up from Jordan’s thickets to a rich pastureland, I will chase Edom from its land in an instant. Who is the chosen one I will appoint for this? Who is like me and who can challenge me? And what shepherd can stand against me?”
  • Jeremiah 49:20 - Therefore, hear what the Lord has planned against Edom, what he has purposed against those who live in Teman: The young of the flock will be dragged away; their pasture will be appalled at their fate.
  • Jeremiah 49:21 - At the sound of their fall the earth will tremble; their cry will resound to the Red Sea.
  • Jeremiah 49:22 - Look! An eagle will soar and swoop down, spreading its wings over Bozrah. In that day the hearts of Edom’s warriors will be like the heart of a woman in labor.
  • Joel 3:19 - But Egypt will be desolate, Edom a desert waste, because of violence done to the people of Judah, in whose land they shed innocent blood.
  • Psalm 137:7 - Remember, Lord, what the Edomites did on the day Jerusalem fell. “Tear it down,” they cried, “tear it down to its foundations!”
  • Numbers 20:14 - Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom, saying: “This is what your brother Israel says: You know about all the hardships that have come on us.
  • Numbers 20:15 - Our ancestors went down into Egypt, and we lived there many years. The Egyptians mistreated us and our ancestors,
  • Numbers 20:16 - but when we cried out to the Lord, he heard our cry and sent an angel and brought us out of Egypt. “Now we are here at Kadesh, a town on the edge of your territory.
  • Numbers 20:17 - Please let us pass through your country. We will not go through any field or vineyard, or drink water from any well. We will travel along the King’s Highway and not turn to the right or to the left until we have passed through your territory.”
  • Numbers 20:18 - But Edom answered: “You may not pass through here; if you try, we will march out and attack you with the sword.”
  • Numbers 20:19 - The Israelites replied: “We will go along the main road, and if we or our livestock drink any of your water, we will pay for it. We only want to pass through on foot—nothing else.”
  • Numbers 20:20 - Again they answered: “You may not pass through.” Then Edom came out against them with a large and powerful army.
  • Numbers 20:21 - Since Edom refused to let them go through their territory, Israel turned away from them.
  • Malachi 1:4 - Edom may say, “Though we have been crushed, we will rebuild the ruins.” But this is what the Lord Almighty says: “They may build, but I will demolish. They will be called the Wicked Land, a people always under the wrath of the Lord.
  • 2 Chronicles 28:17 - The Edomites had again come and attacked Judah and carried away prisoners,
  • Ezekiel 25:12 - “This is what the Sovereign Lord says: ‘Because Edom took revenge on Judah and became very guilty by doing so,
  • Ezekiel 25:13 - therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will stretch out my hand against Edom and kill both man and beast. I will lay it waste, and from Teman to Dedan they will fall by the sword.
  • Ezekiel 25:14 - I will take vengeance on Edom by the hand of my people Israel, and they will deal with Edom in accordance with my anger and my wrath; they will know my vengeance, declares the Sovereign Lord.’ ”
