  • Mark 15:43 - Joseph went boldly to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. Joseph was from the town of Arimathea. He was a leading member of the Jewish Council. He was waiting for God’s kingdom.

  • Acts 2:33 - Jesus has been given a place of honor at the right hand of God. He has received the Holy Spirit from the Father. This is what God had promised. It is Jesus who has poured out what you now see and hear.
  • Luke 18:32 - He will be handed over to the Gentiles. They will make fun of him. They will laugh at him and spit on him.
  • Luke 18:33 - They will whip him and kill him. On the third day, he will rise from the dead!”
  • Mark 9:31 - That was because he was teaching his disciples. He said to them, “The Son of Man is going to be handed over to men. They will kill him. After three days he will rise from the dead.”
  • John 2:19 - Jesus answered them, “When you destroy this temple, I will raise it up again in three days.”
  • John 2:20 - They replied, “It has taken 46 years to build this temple. Are you going to raise it up in three days?”
  • John 2:21 - But the temple Jesus had spoken about was his body.
  • John 2:22 - His disciples later remembered what he had said. That was after he had been raised from the dead. Then they believed the Scripture. They also believed the words that Jesus had spoken.
  • Luke 23:50 - A man named Joseph was a member of the Jewish Council. He was a good and honest man.
  • Luke 23:51 - Joseph had not agreed with what the leaders had decided and done. He was from Arimathea, a town in Judea. He himself was waiting for God’s kingdom.
  • Luke 23:52 - Joseph went to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body.
  • Luke 23:53 - Joseph took it down and wrapped it in linen cloth. Then he placed it in a tomb cut in the rock. No one had ever been buried there.
  • Mark 16:2 - Very early on the first day of the week, they were on their way to the tomb. It was just after sunrise.
  • Mark 16:3 - They asked each other, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance to the tomb?”
  • Mark 16:4 - Then they looked up and saw that the stone had been rolled away. The stone was very large.
  • Mark 16:5 - They entered the tomb. As they did, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe. He was sitting on the right side. They were alarmed.
  • Mark 16:6 - “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. But he has risen! He is not here! See the place where they had put him.
  • Mark 16:7 - Go! Tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him. It will be just as he told you.’ ”
  • Luke 9:22 - He said, “The Son of Man must suffer many things. The elders will not accept him. The chief priests and the teachers of the law will not accept him either. He must be killed and on the third day rise from the dead.”
  • Luke 24:5 - The women were terrified. They bowed down with their faces to the ground. Then the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead?
  • Luke 24:6 - Jesus is not here! He has risen! Remember how he told you he would rise. It was while he was still with you in Galilee.
  • Luke 24:7 - He said, ‘The Son of Man must be handed over to sinful people. He must be nailed to a cross. On the third day he will rise from the dead.’ ”
  • Colossians 2:12 - When you were baptized, you were buried together with Christ. And you were raised to life together with him when you were baptized. You were raised to life by believing in God’s work. God himself raised Jesus from the dead.
  • Matthew 27:63 - “Sir,” they said, “we remember something that liar said while he was still alive. He claimed, ‘After three days I will rise again.’
  • Matthew 27:64 - So give the order to make the tomb secure until the third day. If you don’t, his disciples might come and steal the body. Then they will tell the people that Jesus has been raised from the dead. This last lie will be worse than the first.”
  • Acts 17:31 - He has set a day when he will judge the world fairly. He has appointed a man to be its judge. God has proved this to everyone by raising that man from the dead.”
  • Matthew 20:19 - Then they will hand him over to the Gentiles. The people will make fun of him and whip him. They will nail him to a cross. On the third day, he will rise from the dead!”
  • Matthew 27:57 - As evening approached, a rich man came from the town of Arimathea. His name was Joseph. He had become a follower of Jesus.
  • Matthew 27:58 - He went to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. Pilate ordered that it be given to him.
  • Matthew 27:59 - Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth.
  • Matthew 27:60 - He placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut out of the rock. He rolled a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb. Then he went away.
  • Mark 10:33 - “We are going up to Jerusalem,” he said. “The Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will sentence him to death. Then they will hand him over to the Gentiles.
  • Mark 10:34 - They will make fun of him and spit on him. They will whip him and kill him. Three days later he will rise from the dead!”
  • Matthew 16:21 - From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples what would happen to him. He told them he must go to Jerusalem. There he must suffer many things from the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law. He must be killed and on the third day rise to life again.
  • Acts 1:3 - After his suffering and death, he appeared to them. In many ways he proved that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of 40 days. During that time he spoke about God’s kingdom.
  • Matthew 28:1 - The Sabbath day was now over. It was dawn on the first day of the week. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.
  • Matthew 28:2 - There was a powerful earthquake. An angel of the Lord came down from heaven. The angel went to the tomb. He rolled back the stone and sat on it.
  • Matthew 28:3 - His body shone like lightning. His clothes were as white as snow.
  • Matthew 28:4 - The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.
  • Matthew 28:5 - The angel said to the women, “Don’t be afraid. I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.
  • Matthew 28:6 - He is not here! He has risen, just as he said he would! Come and see the place where he was lying.
  • 1 Corinthians 15:16 - If the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either.
  • 1 Corinthians 15:17 - And if Christ has not been raised, your faith doesn’t mean anything. Your sins have not been forgiven.
  • 1 Corinthians 15:18 - Those who have died believing in Christ are also lost.
  • 1 Corinthians 15:19 - Do we have hope in Christ only for this life? Then people should pity us more than anyone else.
  • 1 Corinthians 15:20 - But Christ really has been raised from the dead. He is the first of all those who will rise from the dead.
  • 1 Corinthians 15:21 - Death came because of what a man did. Rising from the dead also comes because of what a man did.
  • Luke 24:26 - Didn’t the Messiah have to suffer these things and then receive his glory?”
  • Romans 6:4 - By being baptized, we were buried with Christ into his death. Christ has been raised from the dead by the Father’s glory. And like Christ we also can live a new life.
  • Jonah 1:17 - Now the Lord sent a huge fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish for three days and three nights.
  • Hebrews 13:20 - Our Lord Jesus is the great Shepherd of the sheep. The God who gives peace brought him back from the dead. He did it because of the blood of the eternal covenant. Now may God
  • Psalm 2:7 - I will announce what the Lord has promised. He said to me, “You are my son. Today I have become your father.
  • Isaiah 53:9 - He was given a grave with those who were evil. But his body was buried in the tomb of a rich man. He was killed even though he hadn’t harmed anyone. And he had never lied to anyone.
  • Isaiah 53:10 - The Lord says, “It was my plan to crush him and cause him to suffer. I made his life an offering to pay for sin. But he will see all his children after him. In fact, he will continue to live. My plan will be brought about through him.
  • Isaiah 53:11 - After he has suffered, he will see the light of life. And he will be satisfied. My godly servant will make many people godly because of what he will accomplish. He will be punished for their sins.
  • Isaiah 53:12 - So I will give him a place of honor among those who are great. He will be rewarded just like others who win the battle. That’s because he was willing to give his life as a sacrifice. He was counted among those who had committed crimes. He took the sins of many people on himself. And he gave his life for those who had done what is wrong.”
  • Psalm 16:10 - You will not leave me in the place of the dead. You will not let your faithful one rot away.
  • Psalm 16:11 - You always show me the path of life. You will fill me with joy when I am with you. You will make me happy forever at your right hand.
  • Acts 26:22 - But God has helped me to this day. So I stand here and tell you what is true. I tell it to everyone, both small and great. I have been saying nothing different from what the prophets and Moses said would happen.
  • Acts 26:23 - They said the Messiah would suffer. He would be the first to rise from the dead. He would bring the message of God’s light. He would bring it to his own people and to the Gentiles.”
  • Acts 13:29 - They did everything that had been written about Jesus. Then they took him down from the cross. They laid him in a tomb.

  • Acts 13:33 - he has done for us, their children. He has raised up Jesus. This is what is written in the second Psalm. It says, “ ‘You are my son. Today I have become your father.’ ( Psalm 2:7 )
  • Acts 13:34 - God raised Jesus from the dead. He will never rot in the grave. As God has said, “ ‘Holy and sure blessings were promised to David. I will give them to you.’ ( Isaiah 55:3 )
  • Acts 13:35 - In another place it also says, “ ‘You will not let your holy one rot away.’ ( Psalm 16:10 )
  • Acts 13:36 - “David carried out God’s purpose while he lived. Then he died. He was buried with his people. His body rotted away.
  • Acts 13:37 - But the one whom God raised from the dead did not rot away.
  • Matthew 12:40 - Jonah was in the belly of a huge fish for three days and three nights. Something like that will happen to the Son of Man. He will spend three days and three nights in the grave.
  • Hosea 6:2 - After two days he will give us new life. On the third day he’ll make us like new again. Then we will enjoy his blessing.
