Indeed, you have instructed many and have strengthened weak hands.Your words have steadied the one who was stumbling and braced the knees that were buckling.
If you were in my place I could also talk like you. I could string words together against you and shake my head at you.Instead, I would encourage you with my mouth, and the consolation from my lips would bring relief.
Strengthen the weak hands, steady the shaking knees!Say to the cowardly:“ Be strong; do not fear! Here is your God; vengeance is coming. God’s retribution is coming; He will save you.”
At noon Elijah mocked them. He said,“ Shout loudly, for he’s a god! Maybe he’s thinking it over; maybe he has wandered away; or maybe he’s on the road. Perhaps he’s sleeping and will wake up!”
The islands see and are afraid, the whole earth trembles. They approach and arrive.Each one helps the other, and says to another,“ Take courage!”The craftsman encourages the metalworker; the one who flattens with the hammer supports the one who strikes the anvil, saying of the soldering,“ It is good.” He fastens it with nails so that it will not fall over.
Who did He consult with? Who gave Him understanding and taught Him the paths of justice? Who taught Him knowledge and showed Him the way of understanding?
