And she said, Wilt thou give[ me] a pledge, till thou send[ it]?And he said, What pledge shall I give thee? And she said, Thy signet, and thy bracelets, and thy staff that[ is] in thine hand. And he gave[ it] her, and came in unto her, and she conceived by him.

Genesis 34:25-31
And it came to pass on the third day, when they were sore, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brethren, took each man his sword, and came upon the city boldly, and slew all the males. And they slew Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah out of Shechem’s house, and went out.The sons of Jacob came upon the slain, and spoiled the city, because they had defiled their sister. They took their sheep, and their oxen, and their asses, and that which[ was] in the city, and that which[ was] in the field,And all their wealth, and all their little ones, and their wives took they captive, and spoiled even all that[ was] in the house. And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, Ye have troubled me to make me to stink among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites: and I[ being] few in number, they shall gather themselves together against me, and slay me; and I shall be destroyed, I and my house. And they said, Should he deal with our sister as with an harlot?

Joshua 22:22-29
The LORD God of gods, the LORD God of gods, he knoweth, and Israel he shall know; if[ it be] in rebellion, or if in transgression against the LORD,( save us not this day,)That we have built us an altar to turn from following the LORD, or if to offer thereon burnt offering or meat offering, or if to offer peace offerings thereon, let the LORD himself require[ it];And if we have not[ rather] done it for fear of[ this] thing, saying, In time to come your children might speak unto our children, saying, What have ye to do with the LORD God of Israel? For the LORD hath made Jordan a border between us and you, ye children of Reuben and children of Gad; ye have no part in the LORD: so shall your children make our children cease from fearing the LORD.Therefore we said, Let us now prepare to build us an altar, not for burnt offering, nor for sacrifice:But[ that] it[ may be] a witness between us, and you, and our generations after us, that we might do the service of the LORD before him with our burnt offerings, and with our sacrifices, and with our peace offerings; that your children may not say to our children in time to come, Ye have no part in the LORD.Therefore said we, that it shall be, when they should[ so] say to us or to our generations in time to come, that we may say[ again], Behold the pattern of the altar of the LORD, which our fathers made, not for burnt offerings, nor for sacrifices; but it[ is] a witness between us and you.God forbid that we should rebel against the LORD, and turn this day from following the LORD, to build an altar for burnt offerings, for meat offerings, or for sacrifices, beside the altar of the LORD our God that[ is] before his tabernacle.

Genesis 37:18-32
And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him.And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh.Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams. And Reuben heard[ it], and he delivered him out of their hands; and said, Let us not kill him.And Reuben said unto them, Shed no blood,[ but] cast him into this pit that[ is] in the wilderness, and lay no hand upon him; that he might rid him out of their hands, to deliver him to his father again. And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stript Joseph out of his coat,[ his] coat of[ many] colours that[ was] on him;And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit[ was] empty,[ there was] no water in it.And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and, behold, a company of Ishmeelites came from Gilead with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry[ it] down to Egypt. And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit[ is it] if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood?Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he[ is] our brother[ and] our flesh. And his brethren were content. Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty[ pieces] of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt. And Reuben returned unto the pit; and, behold, Joseph[ was] not in the pit; and he rent his clothes. And he returned unto his brethren, and said, The child[ is] not; and I, whither shall I go?And they took Joseph’s coat, and killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the coat in the blood; And they sent the coat of[ many] colours, and they brought[ it] to their father; and said, This have we found: know now whether it[ be] thy son’s coat or no.
