Ezra 4:24-5:2
Then work stopped on God’s house which is at Jerusalem. It stopped until the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.Now the prophets, Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah and Jerusalem. They prophesied to them in the name of the God of Israel.Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak rose up and began to build God’s house which is at Jerusalem; and with them were the prophets of God, helping them.

But in the first year of Cyrus king of Babylon, Cyrus the king made a decree to build this house of God.

May the God who has caused his name to dwell there overthrow all kings and peoples who stretch out their hand to alter this, to destroy this house of God which is at Jerusalem. I Darius have made a decree. Let it be done with all diligence.Then Tattenai, the governor beyond the River, Shetharbozenai, and their companions did accordingly with all diligence, because Darius the king had sent a decree.

Ezra 1:1-4
Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that Yahweh’s word by Jeremiah’s mouth might be accomplished, Yahweh stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,“ Cyrus king of Persia says,‘ Yahweh, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he has commanded me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah.Whoever there is among you of all his people, may his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of Yahweh, the God of Israel( he is God), which is in Jerusalem.Whoever is left, in any place where he lives, let the men of his place help him with silver, with gold, with goods, and with animals, in addition to the free will offering for God’s house which is in Jerusalem.’”

“ The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house. His hands shall also finish it; and you will know that Yahweh of Armies has sent me to you.

Ezra 4:3
But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the heads of fathers’ households of Israel, said to them,“ You have nothing to do with us in building a house to our God; but we ourselves together will build to Yahweh, the God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia has commanded us.”

Now in the second year of their coming to God’s house at Jerusalem, in the second month, Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the rest of their brothers the priests and the Levites, and all those who had come out of the captivity to Jerusalem, began the work and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to have the oversight of the work of Yahweh’s house.

Haggai 2:2-15
“ Speak now to Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people, saying,‘ Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How do you see it now? Isn’t it in your eyes as nothing?Yet now be strong, Zerubbabel,’ says Yahweh.‘ Be strong, Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land,’ says Yahweh,‘ and work, for I am with you,’ says Yahweh of Armies.This is the word that I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt, and my Spirit lived among you.‘ Don’t be afraid.’For this is what Yahweh of Armies says:‘ Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, the earth, the sea, and the dry land;and I will shake all nations. The precious things of all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory, says Yahweh of Armies.The silver is mine, and the gold is mine,’ says Yahweh of Armies.‘ The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former,’ says Yahweh of Armies;‘ and in this place I will give peace,’ says Yahweh of Armies.”In the twenty- fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, Yahweh’s word came by Haggai the prophet, saying,“ Yahweh of Armies says: Ask now the priests concerning the law, saying,‘ If someone carries holy meat in the fold of his garment, and with his fold touches bread, stew, wine, oil, or any food, will it become holy?’” The priests answered,“ No.”Then Haggai said,“ If one who is unclean by reason of a dead body touch any of these, will it be unclean?” The priests answered,“ It will be unclean.”Then Haggai answered,“‘ So is this people, and so is this nation before me,’ says Yahweh;‘ and so is every work of their hands. That which they offer there is unclean.Now, please consider from this day and backward, before a stone was laid on a stone in Yahweh’s temple.

Who says of Cyrus,‘ He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure,’ even saying of Jerusalem,‘ She will be built;’ and of the temple,‘ Your foundation will be laid.’”

Again I lifted up my eyes, and saw, and behold, four chariots came out from between two mountains; and the mountains were mountains of bronze.In the first chariot were red horses; in the second chariot black horses;in the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot dappled horses, all of them powerful.Then I asked the angel who talked with me,“ What are these, my lord?”The angel answered me,“ These are the four winds of the sky, which go out from standing before the Lord of all the earth.The one with the black horses goes out toward the north country; and the white went out after them; and the dappled went out toward the south country.”The strong went out, and sought to go that they might walk back and forth through the earth: and he said,“ Go around and through the earth!” So they walked back and forth through the earth.Then he called to me, and spoke to me, saying,“ Behold, those who go toward the north country have quieted my spirit in the north country.”Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,“ Take of them of the captivity, even of Heldai, of Tobijah, and of Jedaiah; and come the same day, and go into the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah, where they have come from Babylon.Yes, take silver and gold, and make crowns, and set them on the head of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest;and speak to him, saying,‘ Yahweh of Armies says,“ Behold, the man whose name is the Branch: and he shall grow up out of his place; and he shall build Yahweh’s temple;even he shall build Yahweh’s temple; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule on his throne; and he shall be a priest on his throne; and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.The crowns shall be to Helem, and to Tobijah, and to Jedaiah, and to Hen the son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in Yahweh’s temple.Those who are far off shall come and build in Yahweh’s temple; and you shall know that Yahweh of Armies has sent me to you. This will happen, if you will diligently obey Yahweh your God’s voice.”’”
