  • Matthew 22:6 - Others seized his messengers and insulted them and killed them.
  • Matthew 22:7 - “The king was furious, and he sent out his army to destroy the murderers and burn their town.
  • 1 Peter 2:8 - And, “He is the stone that makes people stumble, the rock that makes them fall.” They stumble because they do not obey God’s word, and so they meet the fate that was planned for them.
  • Acts of the Apostles 13:46 - Then Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and declared, “It was necessary that we first preach the word of God to you Jews. But since you have rejected it and judged yourselves unworthy of eternal life, we will offer it to the Gentiles.
  • Acts of the Apostles 13:47 - For the Lord gave us this command when he said, ‘I have made you a light to the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the farthest corners of the earth.’ ”
  • Acts of the Apostles 7:51 - “You stubborn people! You are heathen at heart and deaf to the truth. Must you forever resist the Holy Spirit? That’s what your ancestors did, and so do you!
  • Acts of the Apostles 7:52 - Name one prophet your ancestors didn’t persecute! They even killed the ones who predicted the coming of the Righteous One—the Messiah whom you betrayed and murdered.
  • 1 Thessalonians 2:16 - as they try to keep us from preaching the Good News of salvation to the Gentiles. By doing this, they continue to pile up their sins. But the anger of God has caught up with them at last.
  • Deuteronomy 31:27 - For I know how rebellious and stubborn you are. Even now, while I am still alive and am here with you, you have rebelled against the Lord. How much more rebellious will you be after my death!
  • Matthew 23:34 - “Therefore, I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers of religious law. But you will kill some by crucifixion, and you will flog others with whips in your synagogues, chasing them from city to city.
  • Matthew 23:35 - As a result, you will be held responsible for the murder of all godly people of all time—from the murder of righteous Abel to the murder of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you killed in the Temple between the sanctuary and the altar.

  • Matthew 23:37 - “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me.
  • Luke 24:47 - It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: ‘There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.’

  • Matthew 21:33 - “Now listen to another story. A certain landowner planted a vineyard, built a wall around it, dug a pit for pressing out the grape juice, and built a lookout tower. Then he leased the vineyard to tenant farmers and moved to another country.
  • Matthew 21:34 - At the time of the grape harvest, he sent his servants to collect his share of the crop.
  • Matthew 21:35 - But the farmers grabbed his servants, beat one, killed one, and stoned another.
  • Matthew 21:36 - So the landowner sent a larger group of his servants to collect for him, but the results were the same.
  • Matthew 21:37 - “Finally, the owner sent his son, thinking, ‘Surely they will respect my son.’
  • Matthew 21:38 - “But when the tenant farmers saw his son coming, they said to one another, ‘Here comes the heir to this estate. Come on, let’s kill him and get the estate for ourselves!’
  • Matthew 21:39 - So they grabbed him, dragged him out of the vineyard, and murdered him.
  • Matthew 21:40 - “When the owner of the vineyard returns,” Jesus asked, “what do you think he will do to those farmers?”
  • Matthew 21:41 - The religious leaders replied, “He will put the wicked men to a horrible death and lease the vineyard to others who will give him his share of the crop after each harvest.”
  • Matthew 21:42 - Then Jesus asked them, “Didn’t you ever read this in the Scriptures? ‘The stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone. This is the Lord’s doing, and it is wonderful to see.’
  • Matthew 21:43 - I tell you, the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation that will produce the proper fruit.
  • 1 Samuel 8:7 - “Do everything they say to you,” the Lord replied, “for they are rejecting me, not you. They don’t want me to be their king any longer.
  • 1 Samuel 8:8 - Ever since I brought them from Egypt they have continually abandoned me and followed other gods. And now they are giving you the same treatment.
  • Nehemiah 9:26 - “But despite all this, they were disobedient and rebelled against you. They turned their backs on your Law, they killed your prophets who warned them to return to you, and they committed terrible blasphemies.
  • Jeremiah 35:15 - Time after time I sent you prophets, who told you, “Turn from your wicked ways, and start doing things right. Stop worshiping other gods so that you might live in peace here in the land I have given to you and your ancestors.” But you would not listen to me or obey me.
  • Isaiah 65:2 - All day long I opened my arms to a rebellious people. But they follow their own evil paths and their own crooked schemes.
  • Isaiah 65:3 - All day long they insult me to my face by worshiping idols in their sacred gardens. They burn incense on pagan altars.
  • Isaiah 65:4 - At night they go out among the graves, worshiping the dead. They eat the flesh of pigs and make stews with other forbidden foods.
  • Isaiah 65:5 - Yet they say to each other, ‘Don’t come too close or you will defile me! I am holier than you!’ These people are a stench in my nostrils, an acrid smell that never goes away.
