  • 2 Kings 24:1 - In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became his vassal for three years. Then he turned and rebelled against him.

  • 2 Chronicles 32:5 - And he strengthened himself, built up all the wall that was broken, raised it up to the towers, and built another wall outside; also he repaired the Millo in the City of David, and made weapons and shields in abundance.
  • 2 Chronicles 32:6 - Then he set military captains over the people, gathered them together to him in the open square of the city gate, and gave them encouragement, saying,
  • 2 Chronicles 32:7 - “Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed before the king of Assyria, nor before all the multitude that is with him; for there are more with us than with him.
  • 2 Chronicles 32:8 - With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles.” And the people were strengthened by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

  • 2 Chronicles 32:11 - Does not Hezekiah persuade you to give yourselves over to die by famine and by thirst, saying, “The Lord our God will deliver us from the hand of the king of Assyria”?
  • 2 Chronicles 32:12 - Has not the same Hezekiah taken away His high places and His altars, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, “You shall worship before one altar and burn incense on it”?
  • 2 Chronicles 32:13 - Do you not know what I and my fathers have done to all the peoples of other lands? Were the gods of the nations of those lands in any way able to deliver their lands out of my hand?
  • 2 Chronicles 32:14 - Who was there among all the gods of those nations that my fathers utterly destroyed that could deliver his people from my hand, that your God should be able to deliver you from my hand?
  • 2 Chronicles 32:15 - Now therefore, do not let Hezekiah deceive you or persuade you like this, and do not believe him; for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people from my hand or the hand of my fathers. How much less will your God deliver you from my hand?’ ”

  • 2 Chronicles 32:18 - Then they called out with a loud voice in Hebrew to the people of Jerusalem who were on the wall, to frighten them and trouble them, that they might take the city.

  • 2 Chronicles 32:28 - storehouses for the harvest of grain, wine, and oil; and stalls for all kinds of livestock, and folds for flocks.
  • 2 Chronicles 32:29 - Moreover he provided cities for himself, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance; for God had given him very much property.
  • 2 Chronicles 32:30 - This same Hezekiah also stopped the water outlet of Upper Gihon, and brought the water by tunnel to the west side of the City of David. Hezekiah prospered in all his works.
  • 2 Chronicles 32:31 - However, regarding the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, whom they sent to him to inquire about the wonder that was done in the land, God withdrew from him, in order to test him, that He might know all that was in his heart.
  • 2 Chronicles 32:32 - Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and his goodness, indeed they are written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, and in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
  • 2 Chronicles 32:33 - So Hezekiah rested with his fathers, and they buried him in the upper tombs of the sons of David; and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem honored him at his death. Then Manasseh his son reigned in his place.

  • 2 Kings 18:14 - Then Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria at Lachish, saying, “I have done wrong; turn away from me; whatever you impose on me I will pay.” And the king of Assyria assessed Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.
  • 2 Kings 18:15 - So Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of the Lord and in the treasuries of the king’s house.

  • 2 Chronicles 32:15 - Now therefore, do not let Hezekiah deceive you or persuade you like this, and do not believe him; for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people from my hand or the hand of my fathers. How much less will your God deliver you from my hand?’ ”
  • 2 Chronicles 32:16 - Furthermore, his servants spoke against the Lord God and against His servant Hezekiah.
  • 2 Chronicles 32:17 - He also wrote letters to revile the Lord God of Israel, and to speak against Him, saying, “As the gods of the nations of other lands have not delivered their people from my hand, so the God of Hezekiah will not deliver His people from my hand.”
  • 2 Chronicles 32:18 - Then they called out with a loud voice in Hebrew to the people of Jerusalem who were on the wall, to frighten them and trouble them, that they might take the city.
  • 2 Chronicles 32:19 - And they spoke against the God of Jerusalem, as against the gods of the people of the earth—the work of men’s hands.
  • 2 Chronicles 32:20 - Now because of this King Hezekiah and the prophet Isaiah, the son of Amoz, prayed and cried out to heaven.
  • 2 Chronicles 32:21 - Then the Lord sent an angel who cut down every mighty man of valor, leader, and captain in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned shamefaced to his own land. And when he had gone into the temple of his god, some of his own offspring struck him down with the sword there.
  • 2 Chronicles 32:22 - Thus the Lord saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all others, and guided them on every side.
  • 2 Chronicles 32:23 - And many brought gifts to the Lord at Jerusalem, and presents to Hezekiah king of Judah, so that he was exalted in the sight of all nations thereafter.
  • 2 Chronicles 32:24 - In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death, and he prayed to the Lord; and He spoke to him and gave him a sign.
  • 2 Chronicles 32:25 - But Hezekiah did not repay according to the favor shown him, for his heart was lifted up; therefore wrath was looming over him and over Judah and Jerusalem.
  • 2 Chronicles 32:26 - Then Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the Lord did not come upon them in the days of Hezekiah.
  • 2 Chronicles 32:27 - Hezekiah had very great riches and honor. And he made himself treasuries for silver, for gold, for precious stones, for spices, for shields, and for all kinds of desirable items;
  • 2 Chronicles 32:28 - storehouses for the harvest of grain, wine, and oil; and stalls for all kinds of livestock, and folds for flocks.
  • 2 Chronicles 32:29 - Moreover he provided cities for himself, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance; for God had given him very much property.
  • 2 Chronicles 32:30 - This same Hezekiah also stopped the water outlet of Upper Gihon, and brought the water by tunnel to the west side of the City of David. Hezekiah prospered in all his works.
  • 2 Chronicles 32:31 - However, regarding the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, whom they sent to him to inquire about the wonder that was done in the land, God withdrew from him, in order to test him, that He might know all that was in his heart.
  • 2 Chronicles 32:32 - Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and his goodness, indeed they are written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, and in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
  • 2 Chronicles 32:33 - So Hezekiah rested with his fathers, and they buried him in the upper tombs of the sons of David; and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem honored him at his death. Then Manasseh his son reigned in his place.
  • Jeremiah 52:7 - Then the city wall was broken through, and all the men of war fled and went out of the city at night by way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king’s garden, even though the Chaldeans were near the city all around. And they went by way of the plain.
  • Jeremiah 39:1 - In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army came against Jerusalem, and besieged it.
  • Jeremiah 39:2 - In the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, the city was penetrated.
  • Jeremiah 39:3 - Then all the princes of the king of Babylon came in and sat in the Middle Gate: Nergal-Sharezer, Samgar-Nebo, Sarsechim, Rabsaris, Nergal-Sarezer, Rabmag, with the rest of the princes of the king of Babylon.
  • 2 Kings 18:1 - Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea the son of Elah, king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz, king of Judah, began to reign.
  • 2 Kings 18:2 - He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Abi the daughter of Zechariah.
  • 2 Kings 18:3 - And he did what was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father David had done.
  • 2 Kings 18:4 - He removed the high places and broke the sacred pillars, cut down the wooden image and broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made; for until those days the children of Israel burned incense to it, and called it Nehushtan.
  • 2 Kings 18:5 - He trusted in the Lord God of Israel, so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor who were before him.
  • 2 Kings 18:6 - For he held fast to the Lord; he did not depart from following Him, but kept His commandments, which the Lord had commanded Moses.
  • 2 Kings 18:7 - The Lord was with him; he prospered wherever he went. And he rebelled against the king of Assyria and did not serve him.
  • 2 Kings 18:8 - He subdued the Philistines, as far as Gaza and its territory, from watchtower to fortified city.
  • 2 Kings 18:9 - Now it came to pass in the fourth year of King Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea the son of Elah, king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria and besieged it.
  • 2 Kings 18:10 - And at the end of three years they took it. In the sixth year of Hezekiah, that is, the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.
  • 2 Kings 18:11 - Then the king of Assyria carried Israel away captive to Assyria, and put them in Halah and by the Habor, the River of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes,
  • 2 Kings 18:12 - because they did not obey the voice of the Lord their God, but transgressed His covenant and all that Moses the servant of the Lord had commanded; and they would neither hear nor do them.
  • 2 Kings 18:13 - And in the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah, Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah and took them.
  • 2 Kings 18:14 - Then Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria at Lachish, saying, “I have done wrong; turn away from me; whatever you impose on me I will pay.” And the king of Assyria assessed Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.
  • 2 Kings 18:15 - So Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of the Lord and in the treasuries of the king’s house.
  • 2 Kings 18:16 - At that time Hezekiah stripped the gold from the doors of the temple of the Lord, and from the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.
  • 2 Kings 18:17 - Then the king of Assyria sent the Tartan, the Rabsaris, and the Rabshakeh from Lachish, with a great army against Jerusalem, to King Hezekiah. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. When they had come up, they went and stood by the aqueduct from the upper pool, which was on the highway to the Fuller’s Field.
  • 2 Kings 18:18 - And when they had called to the king, Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph, the recorder, came out to them.
  • 2 Kings 18:19 - Then the Rabshakeh said to them, “Say now to Hezekiah, ‘Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria: “What confidence is this in which you trust?
  • 2 Chronicles 36:1 - Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and made him king in his father’s place in Jerusalem.
  • 2 Chronicles 36:2 - Jehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he became king, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.
  • 2 Chronicles 36:3 - Now the king of Egypt deposed him at Jerusalem; and he imposed on the land a tribute of one hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.
  • 2 Chronicles 36:4 - Then the king of Egypt made Jehoahaz’s brother Eliakim king over Judah and Jerusalem, and changed his name to Jehoiakim. And Necho took Jehoahaz his brother and carried him off to Egypt.
  • 2 Chronicles 36:5 - Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And he did evil in the sight of the Lord his God.
  • 2 Chronicles 36:6 - Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against him, and bound him in bronze fetters to carry him off to Babylon.
  • 2 Chronicles 36:7 - Nebuchadnezzar also carried off some of the articles from the house of the Lord to Babylon, and put them in his temple at Babylon.
  • 2 Chronicles 36:8 - Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, the abominations which he did, and what was found against him, indeed they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah. Then Jehoiachin his son reigned in his place.
  • 2 Chronicles 36:9 - Jehoiachin was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months and ten days. And he did evil in the sight of the Lord.
  • 2 Chronicles 36:10 - At the turn of the year King Nebuchadnezzar summoned him and took him to Babylon, with the costly articles from the house of the Lord, and made Zedekiah, Jehoiakim’s brother, king over Judah and Jerusalem.
  • 2 Chronicles 36:11 - Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem.
  • 2 Chronicles 36:12 - He did evil in the sight of the Lord his God, and did not humble himself before Jeremiah the prophet, who spoke from the mouth of the Lord.
  • 2 Chronicles 36:13 - And he also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear an oath by God; but he stiffened his neck and hardened his heart against turning to the Lord God of Israel.
  • 2 Chronicles 36:14 - Moreover all the leaders of the priests and the people transgressed more and more, according to all the abominations of the nations, and defiled the house of the Lord which He had consecrated in Jerusalem.
  • 2 Chronicles 36:15 - And the Lord God of their fathers sent warnings to them by His messengers, rising up early and sending them, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place.
  • 2 Chronicles 36:16 - But they mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the Lord arose against His people, till there was no remedy.
  • 2 Chronicles 36:17 - Therefore He brought against them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion on young man or virgin, on the aged or the weak; He gave them all into his hand.
  • 2 Chronicles 36:18 - And all the articles from the house of God, great and small, the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king and of his leaders, all these he took to Babylon.
  • 2 Chronicles 36:19 - Then they burned the house of God, broke down the wall of Jerusalem, burned all its palaces with fire, and destroyed all its precious possessions.
  • 2 Chronicles 36:20 - And those who escaped from the sword he carried away to Babylon, where they became servants to him and his sons until the rule of the kingdom of Persia,
  • 2 Chronicles 36:21 - to fulfill the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her Sabbaths. As long as she lay desolate she kept Sabbath, to fulfill seventy years.
  • 2 Chronicles 36:22 - Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying,
  • 2 Chronicles 36:23 - Thus says Cyrus king of Persia: All the kingdoms of the earth the Lord God of heaven has given me. And He has commanded me to build Him a house at Jerusalem which is in Judah. Who is among you of all His people? May the Lord his God be with him, and let him go up!
  • Jeremiah 52:12 - Now in the fifth month, on the tenth day of the month (which was the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon), Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, who served the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem.
  • Jeremiah 52:13 - He burned the house of the Lord and the king’s house; all the houses of Jerusalem, that is, all the houses of the great, he burned with fire.
  • Jeremiah 52:14 - And all the army of the Chaldeans who were with the captain of the guard broke down all the walls of Jerusalem all around.
  • Jeremiah 51:34 - “Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon Has devoured me, he has crushed me; He has made me an empty vessel, He has swallowed me up like a monster; He has filled his stomach with my delicacies, He has spit me out.
  • Jeremiah 4:7 - The lion has come up from his thicket, And the destroyer of nations is on his way. He has gone forth from his place To make your land desolate. Your cities will be laid waste, Without inhabitant.
  • Jeremiah 5:6 - Therefore a lion from the forest shall slay them, A wolf of the deserts shall destroy them; A leopard will watch over their cities. Everyone who goes out from there shall be torn in pieces, Because their transgressions are many; Their backslidings have increased.
