  • Ezekiel 22:2 - And thou, son of man, wilt thou judge, wilt thou judge the bloody city? then cause her to know all her abominations.

  • Ezekiel 16:2 - Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations;
  • Ezekiel 16:3 - and say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah unto Jerusalem: Thy birth and thy nativity is of the land of the Canaanite; the Amorite was thy father, and thy mother was a Hittite.

  • Ezekiel 16:16 - And thou didst take of thy garments, and madest for thee high places decked with divers colors, and playedst the harlot upon them: the like things shall not come, neither shall it be so.
  • Ezekiel 16:17 - Thou didst also take thy fair jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given thee, and madest for thee images of men, and didst play the harlot with them;
  • Ezekiel 16:18 - and thou tookest thy broidered garments, and coveredst them, and didst set mine oil and mine incense before them.
  • Ezekiel 16:19 - My bread also which I gave thee, fine flour, and oil, and honey, wherewith I fed thee, thou didst even set it before them for a sweet savor; and thus it was, saith the Lord Jehovah.
  • Ezekiel 16:20 - Moreover thou hast taken thy sons and thy daughters, whom thou hast borne unto me, and these hast thou sacrificed unto them to be devoured. Were thy whoredoms a small matter,
  • Ezekiel 16:21 - that thou hast slain my children, and delivered them up, in causing them to pass through the fire unto them?
  • Ezekiel 16:22 - And in all thine abominations and thy whoredoms thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, when thou wast naked and bare, and wast weltering in thy blood.
  • Ezekiel 16:23 - And it is come to pass after all thy wickedness (woe, woe unto thee! saith the Lord Jehovah),
  • Ezekiel 16:24 - that thou hast built unto thee a vaulted place, and hast made thee a lofty place in every street.
  • Ezekiel 16:25 - Thou hast built thy lofty place at the head of every way, and hast made thy beauty an abomination, and hast opened thy feet to every one that passed by, and multiplied thy whoredom.
  • Ezekiel 16:26 - Thou hast also committed fornication with the Egyptians, thy neighbors, great of flesh; and hast multiplied thy whoredom, to provoke me to anger.
  • Ezekiel 16:27 - Behold therefore, I have stretched out my hand over thee, and have diminished thine ordinary food, and delivered thee unto the will of them that hate thee, the daughters of the Philistines, that are ashamed of thy lewd way.
  • Ezekiel 16:28 - Thou hast played the harlot also with the Assyrians, because thou wast insatiable; yea, thou hast played the harlot with them, and yet thou wast not satisfied.
  • Ezekiel 16:29 - Thou hast moreover multiplied thy whoredom unto the land of traffic, unto Chaldea; and yet thou wast not satisfied herewith.
  • Ezekiel 16:30 - How weak is thy heart, saith the Lord Jehovah, seeing thou doest all these things, the work of an impudent harlot;
  • Ezekiel 16:31 - in that thou buildest thy vaulted place at the head of every way, and makest thy lofty place in every street, and hast not been as a harlot, in that thou scornest hire.
  • Ezekiel 16:32 - A wife that committeth adultery! that taketh strangers instead of her husband!
  • Ezekiel 16:33 - They give gifts to all harlots; but thou givest thy gifts to all thy lovers, and bribest them, that they may come unto thee on every side for thy whoredoms.
  • Ezekiel 16:34 - And thou art different from other women in thy whoredoms, in that none followeth thee to play the harlot; and whereas thou givest hire, and no hire is given unto thee, therefore thou art different.
  • Ezekiel 16:35 - Wherefore, O harlot, hear the word of Jehovah:
  • Ezekiel 16:36 - Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Because thy filthiness was poured out, and thy nakedness uncovered through thy whoredoms with thy lovers; and because of all the idols of thy abominations, and for the blood of thy children, that thou didst give unto them;
  • Ezekiel 16:37 - therefore behold, I will gather all thy lovers, with whom thou hast taken pleasure, and all them that thou hast loved, with all them that thou hast hated; I will even gather them against thee on every side, and will uncover thy nakedness unto them, that they may see all thy nakedness.
  • Ezekiel 16:38 - And I will judge thee, as women that break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will bring upon thee the blood of wrath and jealousy.
  • Ezekiel 16:39 - I will also give thee into their hand, and they shall throw down thy vaulted place, and break down thy lofty places; and they shall strip thee of thy clothes, and take thy fair jewels; and they shall leave thee naked and bare.
  • Ezekiel 16:40 - They shall also bring up a company against thee, and they shall stone thee with stones, and thrust thee through with their swords.
  • Ezekiel 16:41 - And they shall burn thy houses with fire, and execute judgments upon thee in the sight of many women; and I will cause thee to cease from playing the harlot, and thou shalt also give no hire any more.
  • Ezekiel 16:42 - So will I cause my wrath toward thee to rest, and my jealousy shall depart from thee, and I will be quiet, and will be no more angry.
  • Ezekiel 16:43 - Because thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, but hast raged against me in all these things; therefore, behold, I also will bring thy way upon thy head, saith the Lord Jehovah: and thou shalt not commit this lewdness with all thine abominations.

  • Ezekiel 16:49 - Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom: pride, fulness of bread, and prosperous ease was in her and in her daughters; neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.

  • Ezekiel 16:51 - Neither hath Samaria committed half of thy sins; but thou hast multiplied thine abominations more than they, and hast justified thy sisters by all thine abominations which thou hast done.
  • Ezekiel 16:52 - Thou also, bear thou thine own shame, in that thou hast given judgment for thy sisters; through thy sins that thou hast committed more abominable than they, they are more righteous than thou: yea, be thou also confounded, and bear thy shame, in that thou hast justified thy sisters.

  • Deuteronomy 4:8 - And what great nation is there, that hath statutes and ordinances so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?
  • Deuteronomy 29:18 - lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from Jehovah our God, to go to serve the gods of those nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood;
  • Deuteronomy 29:19 - and it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart, to destroy the moist with the dry.
  • Deuteronomy 29:20 - Jehovah will not pardon him, but then the anger of Jehovah and his jealousy will smoke against that man, and all the curse that is written in this book shall lie upon him, and Jehovah will blot out his name from under heaven.

  • Deuteronomy 29:24 - even all the nations shall say, Wherefore hath Jehovah done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger?

  • Deuteronomy 29:27 - therefore the anger of Jehovah was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curse that is written in this book;
  • Deuteronomy 29:28 - and Jehovah rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as at this day.
  • Deuteronomy 28:1 - And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of Jehovah thy God, to observe to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that Jehovah thy God will set thee on high above all the nations of the earth:
  • Deuteronomy 28:2 - and all these blessings shall come upon thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of Jehovah thy God.
  • Deuteronomy 28:3 - Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.
  • Deuteronomy 28:4 - Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy beasts, the increase of thy cattle, and the young of thy flock.
  • Deuteronomy 28:5 - Blessed shall be thy basket and thy kneading-trough.
  • Deuteronomy 28:6 - Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
  • Deuteronomy 28:7 - Jehovah will cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thee: they shall come out against thee one way, and shall flee before thee seven ways.
  • Deuteronomy 28:8 - Jehovah will command the blessing upon thee in thy barns, and in all that thou puttest thy hand unto; and he will bless thee in the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee.
  • Deuteronomy 28:9 - Jehovah will establish thee for a holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee; if thou shalt keep the commandments of Jehovah thy God, and walk in his ways.
  • Deuteronomy 28:10 - And all the peoples of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of Jehovah; and they shall be afraid of thee.
  • Deuteronomy 28:11 - And Jehovah will make thee plenteous for good, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which Jehovah sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
  • Deuteronomy 28:12 - Jehovah will open unto thee his good treasure the heavens, to give the rain of thy land in its season, and to bless all the work of thy hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.
  • Deuteronomy 28:13 - And Jehovah will make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if thou shalt hearken unto the commandments of Jehovah thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them,
  • Deuteronomy 28:14 - and shalt not turn aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
  • Deuteronomy 28:15 - But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of Jehovah thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day, that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee.
  • Deuteronomy 28:16 - Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field.
  • Deuteronomy 28:17 - Cursed shall be thy basket and thy kneading-trough.
  • Deuteronomy 28:18 - Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, the increase of thy cattle, and the young of thy flock.
  • Deuteronomy 28:19 - Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
  • Deuteronomy 28:20 - Jehovah will send upon thee cursing, discomfiture, and rebuke, in all that thou puttest thy hand unto to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the evil of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.
  • Deuteronomy 28:21 - Jehovah will make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest in to possess it.
  • Deuteronomy 28:22 - Jehovah will smite thee with consumption, and with fever, and with inflammation, and with fiery heat, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish.
  • Deuteronomy 28:23 - And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.
  • Deuteronomy 28:24 - Jehovah will make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
  • Deuteronomy 28:25 - Jehovah will cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies; thou shalt go out one way against them, and shalt flee seven ways before them: and thou shalt be tossed to and from among all the kingdoms of the earth.
  • Deuteronomy 28:26 - And thy dead body shall be food unto all birds of the heavens, and unto the beasts of the earth; and there shall be none to frighten them away.
  • Deuteronomy 28:27 - Jehovah will smite thee with the boil of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scurvy, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed.
  • Deuteronomy 28:28 - Jehovah will smite thee with madness, and with blindness, and with astonishment of heart;
  • Deuteronomy 28:29 - and thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only oppressed and robbed alway, and there shall be none to save thee.
  • Deuteronomy 28:30 - Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her: thou shalt build a house, and thou shalt not dwell therein: thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not use the fruit thereof.
  • Deuteronomy 28:31 - Thine ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof: thine ass shall be violently taken away from before thy face, and shall not be restored to thee: thy sheep shall be given unto thine enemies, and thou shalt have none to save thee.
  • Deuteronomy 28:32 - Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people; and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day: and there shall be nought in the power of thy hand.
  • Deuteronomy 28:33 - The fruit of thy ground, and all thy labors, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed alway;
  • Deuteronomy 28:34 - so that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.
  • Deuteronomy 28:35 - Jehovah will smite thee in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore boil, whereof thou canst not be healed, from the sole of thy foot unto the crown of thy head.
  • Deuteronomy 28:36 - Jehovah will bring thee, and thy king whom thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation that thou hast not known, thou nor thy fathers; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone.

  • Deuteronomy 28:52 - And they shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and fortified walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy land; and they shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which Jehovah thy God hath given thee.
  • Deuteronomy 28:53 - And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, whom Jehovah thy God hath given thee, in the siege and in the distress wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee.

  • Deuteronomy 28:58 - If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, JEHOVAH THY GOD;
  • Deuteronomy 28:59 - then Jehovah will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.
  • Deuteronomy 28:60 - And he will bring upon thee again all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee.

  • Ezekiel 22:1 - Moreover the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
  • Ezekiel 22:2 - And thou, son of man, wilt thou judge, wilt thou judge the bloody city? then cause her to know all her abominations.

  • Ezekiel 16:8 - Now when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, behold, thy time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over thee, and covered thy nakedness: yea, I sware unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord Jehovah, and thou becamest mine.
  • Ezekiel 16:9 - Then washed I thee with water; yea, I thoroughly washed away thy blood from thee, and I anointed thee with oil.
  • Ezekiel 16:10 - I clothed thee also with broidered work, and shod thee with sealskin, and I girded thee about with fine linen, and covered thee with silk.
  • Ezekiel 16:11 - And I decked thee with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon thy hands, and a chain on thy neck.
  • Ezekiel 16:12 - And I put a ring upon thy nose, and ear-rings in thine ears, and a beautiful crown upon thy head.
  • Ezekiel 16:13 - Thus wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy raiment was of fine linen, and silk, and broidered work; thou didst eat fine flour, and honey, and oil; and thou wast exceeding beautiful, and thou didst prosper unto royal estate.
  • Ezekiel 16:14 - And thy renown went forth among the nations for thy beauty; for it was perfect, through my majesty which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord Jehovah.
  • Ezekiel 16:15 - But thou didst trust in thy beauty, and playedst the harlot because of thy renown, and pouredst out thy whoredoms on every one that passed by; his it was.
  • Ezekiel 16:16 - And thou didst take of thy garments, and madest for thee high places decked with divers colors, and playedst the harlot upon them: the like things shall not come, neither shall it be so.
  • Ezekiel 16:17 - Thou didst also take thy fair jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given thee, and madest for thee images of men, and didst play the harlot with them;
  • Ezekiel 16:18 - and thou tookest thy broidered garments, and coveredst them, and didst set mine oil and mine incense before them.
  • Ezekiel 16:19 - My bread also which I gave thee, fine flour, and oil, and honey, wherewith I fed thee, thou didst even set it before them for a sweet savor; and thus it was, saith the Lord Jehovah.
  • Ezekiel 16:20 - Moreover thou hast taken thy sons and thy daughters, whom thou hast borne unto me, and these hast thou sacrificed unto them to be devoured. Were thy whoredoms a small matter,
  • Ezekiel 16:21 - that thou hast slain my children, and delivered them up, in causing them to pass through the fire unto them?
  • Ezekiel 16:22 - And in all thine abominations and thy whoredoms thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, when thou wast naked and bare, and wast weltering in thy blood.
  • Ezekiel 16:23 - And it is come to pass after all thy wickedness (woe, woe unto thee! saith the Lord Jehovah),
  • Ezekiel 16:24 - that thou hast built unto thee a vaulted place, and hast made thee a lofty place in every street.
  • Ezekiel 16:25 - Thou hast built thy lofty place at the head of every way, and hast made thy beauty an abomination, and hast opened thy feet to every one that passed by, and multiplied thy whoredom.
  • Ezekiel 16:26 - Thou hast also committed fornication with the Egyptians, thy neighbors, great of flesh; and hast multiplied thy whoredom, to provoke me to anger.
  • Ezekiel 16:27 - Behold therefore, I have stretched out my hand over thee, and have diminished thine ordinary food, and delivered thee unto the will of them that hate thee, the daughters of the Philistines, that are ashamed of thy lewd way.
  • Ezekiel 16:28 - Thou hast played the harlot also with the Assyrians, because thou wast insatiable; yea, thou hast played the harlot with them, and yet thou wast not satisfied.
  • Ezekiel 16:29 - Thou hast moreover multiplied thy whoredom unto the land of traffic, unto Chaldea; and yet thou wast not satisfied herewith.
  • Ezekiel 16:30 - How weak is thy heart, saith the Lord Jehovah, seeing thou doest all these things, the work of an impudent harlot;
  • Ezekiel 16:31 - in that thou buildest thy vaulted place at the head of every way, and makest thy lofty place in every street, and hast not been as a harlot, in that thou scornest hire.
  • Ezekiel 16:32 - A wife that committeth adultery! that taketh strangers instead of her husband!
  • Ezekiel 16:33 - They give gifts to all harlots; but thou givest thy gifts to all thy lovers, and bribest them, that they may come unto thee on every side for thy whoredoms.
  • Ezekiel 16:34 - And thou art different from other women in thy whoredoms, in that none followeth thee to play the harlot; and whereas thou givest hire, and no hire is given unto thee, therefore thou art different.
  • Ezekiel 16:35 - Wherefore, O harlot, hear the word of Jehovah:
  • Ezekiel 16:36 - Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Because thy filthiness was poured out, and thy nakedness uncovered through thy whoredoms with thy lovers; and because of all the idols of thy abominations, and for the blood of thy children, that thou didst give unto them;
  • Ezekiel 16:37 - therefore behold, I will gather all thy lovers, with whom thou hast taken pleasure, and all them that thou hast loved, with all them that thou hast hated; I will even gather them against thee on every side, and will uncover thy nakedness unto them, that they may see all thy nakedness.
  • Ezekiel 16:38 - And I will judge thee, as women that break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will bring upon thee the blood of wrath and jealousy.
  • Ezekiel 16:39 - I will also give thee into their hand, and they shall throw down thy vaulted place, and break down thy lofty places; and they shall strip thee of thy clothes, and take thy fair jewels; and they shall leave thee naked and bare.
  • Ezekiel 16:40 - They shall also bring up a company against thee, and they shall stone thee with stones, and thrust thee through with their swords.
  • Ezekiel 16:41 - And they shall burn thy houses with fire, and execute judgments upon thee in the sight of many women; and I will cause thee to cease from playing the harlot, and thou shalt also give no hire any more.
  • Ezekiel 16:42 - So will I cause my wrath toward thee to rest, and my jealousy shall depart from thee, and I will be quiet, and will be no more angry.
  • Ezekiel 16:43 - Because thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, but hast raged against me in all these things; therefore, behold, I also will bring thy way upon thy head, saith the Lord Jehovah: and thou shalt not commit this lewdness with all thine abominations.
  • Ezekiel 16:44 - Behold, every one that useth proverbs shall use this proverb against thee, saying, As is the mother, so is her daughter.
  • Ezekiel 16:45 - Thou art the daughter of thy mother, that loatheth her husband and her children; and thou art the sister of thy sisters, who loathed their husbands and their children: your mother was a Hittite, and your father an Amorite.
  • Ezekiel 16:46 - And thine elder sister is Samaria, that dwelleth at thy left hand, she and her daughters; and thy younger sister, that dwelleth at thy right hand, is Sodom and her daughters.
  • Ezekiel 16:47 - Yet hast thou not walked in their ways, nor done after their abominations; but, as if that were a very little thing, thou wast more corrupt than they in all thy ways.
  • Ezekiel 16:48 - As I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, Sodom thy sister hath not done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters.
  • Ezekiel 16:49 - Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom: pride, fulness of bread, and prosperous ease was in her and in her daughters; neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
  • Ezekiel 16:50 - And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.
  • Ezekiel 16:51 - Neither hath Samaria committed half of thy sins; but thou hast multiplied thine abominations more than they, and hast justified thy sisters by all thine abominations which thou hast done.
  • Ezekiel 16:52 - Thou also, bear thou thine own shame, in that thou hast given judgment for thy sisters; through thy sins that thou hast committed more abominable than they, they are more righteous than thou: yea, be thou also confounded, and bear thy shame, in that thou hast justified thy sisters.
  • Ezekiel 16:53 - And I will turn again their captivity, the captivity of Sodom and her daughters, and the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, and the captivity of thy captives in the midst of them;
  • Ezekiel 16:54 - that thou mayest bear thine own shame, and mayest be ashamed because of all that thou hast done, in that thou art a comfort unto them.
  • Ezekiel 16:55 - And thy sisters, Sodom and her daughters, shall return to their former estate; and Samaria and her daughters shall return to their former estate; and thou and thy daughters shall return to your former estate.
  • Ezekiel 16:56 - For thy sister Sodom was not mentioned by thy mouth in the day of thy pride,
  • Ezekiel 16:57 - before thy wickedness was uncovered, as at the time of the reproach of the daughters of Syria, and of all that are round about her, the daughters of the Philistines, that do despite unto thee round about.
  • Ezekiel 16:58 - Thou hast borne thy lewdness and thine abominations, saith Jehovah.
  • Ezekiel 16:59 - For thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will also deal with thee as thou hast done, who hast despised the oath in breaking the covenant.
  • Ezekiel 16:60 - Nevertheless I will remember my covenant with thee in the days of thy youth, and I will establish unto thee an everlasting covenant.
  • Ezekiel 16:61 - Then shalt thou remember thy ways, and be ashamed, when thou shalt receive thy sisters, thine elder sisters and thy younger; and I will give them unto thee for daughters, but not by thy covenant.
  • Ezekiel 16:62 - And I will establish my covenant with thee; and thou shalt know that I am Jehovah;
  • Ezekiel 16:63 - that thou mayest remember, and be confounded, and never open thy mouth any more, because of thy shame, when I have forgiven thee all that thou hast done, saith the Lord Jehovah.
  • Jeremiah 2:2 - Go, and cry in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith Jehovah, I remember for thee the kindness of thy youth, the love of thine espousals; how thou wentest after me in the wilderness, in a land that was not sown.
  • Jeremiah 2:3 - Israel was holiness unto Jehovah, the first-fruits of his increase: all that devour him shall be held guilty; evil shall come upon them, saith Jehovah.
  • Jeremiah 2:4 - Hear ye the word of Jehovah, O house of Jacob, and all the families of the house of Israel:
  • Jeremiah 2:5 - Thus saith Jehovah, What unrighteousness have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain?
  • Jeremiah 2:6 - Neither said they, Where is Jehovah that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, that led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of drought and of the shadow of death, through a land that none passed through, and where no man dwelt?
  • Jeremiah 2:7 - And I brought you into a plentiful land, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof; but when ye entered, ye defiled my land, and made my heritage an abomination.
  • Jeremiah 2:8 - The priests said not, Where is Jehovah? and they that handle the law knew me not: the rulers also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit.
  • Jeremiah 2:9 - Wherefore I will yet contend with you, saith Jehovah, and with your children’s children will I contend.
  • Jeremiah 2:10 - For pass over to the isles of Kittim, and see; and send unto Kedar, and consider diligently; and see if there hath been such a thing.
  • Jeremiah 2:11 - Hath a nation changed its gods, which yet are no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit.
  • Jeremiah 2:12 - Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith Jehovah.
  • Jeremiah 2:13 - For my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.
  • Jeremiah 2:14 - Is Israel a servant? is he a home-born slave? why is he become a prey?
  • Jeremiah 2:15 - The young lions have roared upon him, and yelled; and they have made his land waste: his cities are burned up, without inhabitant.
  • Jeremiah 2:16 - The children also of Memphis and Tahpanhes have broken the crown of thy head.
  • Jeremiah 2:17 - Hast thou not procured this unto thyself, in that thou hast forsaken Jehovah thy God, when he led thee by the way?
  • Jeremiah 2:18 - And now what hast thou to do in the way to Egypt, to drink the waters of the Shihor? or what hast thou to do in the way to Assyria, to drink the waters of the River?
  • Jeremiah 2:19 - Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and a bitter, that thou hast forsaken Jehovah thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts.
  • Jeremiah 2:20 - For of old time I have broken thy yoke, and burst thy bonds; and thou saidst, I will not serve; for upon every high hill and under every green tree thou didst bow thyself, playing the harlot.
  • Jeremiah 2:21 - Yet I had planted thee a noble vine, wholly a right seed: how then art thou turned into the degenerate branches of a foreign vine unto me?
  • Jeremiah 2:22 - For though thou wash thee with lye, and take thee much soap, yet thine iniquity is marked before me, saith the Lord Jehovah.
  • Jeremiah 2:23 - How canst thou say, I am not defiled, I have not gone after the Baalim? see thy way in the valley, know what thou hast done: thou art a swift dromedary traversing her ways;
  • Jeremiah 2:24 - a wild ass used to the wilderness, that snuffeth up the wind in her desire; in her occasion who can turn her away? all they that seek her will not weary themselves; in her month they shall find her.
  • Jeremiah 2:25 - Withhold thy foot from being unshod, and thy throat from thirst. But thou saidst, It is in vain; no, for I have loved strangers, and after them will I go.
  • Hosea 13:1 - When Ephraim spake, there was trembling; he exalted himself in Israel; but when he offended in Baal, he died.
  • Deuteronomy 4:6 - Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples, that shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.
  • Deuteronomy 4:7 - For what great nation is there, that hath a god so nigh unto them, as Jehovah our God is whensoever we call upon him?
  • Deuteronomy 4:8 - And what great nation is there, that hath statutes and ordinances so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?
  • Deuteronomy 29:18 - lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from Jehovah our God, to go to serve the gods of those nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood;
  • Deuteronomy 29:19 - and it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart, to destroy the moist with the dry.
  • Deuteronomy 29:20 - Jehovah will not pardon him, but then the anger of Jehovah and his jealousy will smoke against that man, and all the curse that is written in this book shall lie upon him, and Jehovah will blot out his name from under heaven.
  • Deuteronomy 29:21 - And Jehovah will set him apart unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that is written in this book of the law.
  • Deuteronomy 29:22 - And the generation to come, your children that shall rise up after you, and the foreigner that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses wherewith Jehovah hath made it sick;
  • Deuteronomy 29:23 - and that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and a burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which Jehovah overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:
  • Deuteronomy 29:24 - even all the nations shall say, Wherefore hath Jehovah done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger?
  • Deuteronomy 29:25 - Then men shall say, Because they forsook the covenant of Jehovah, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt,
  • Deuteronomy 29:26 - and went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods that they knew not, and that he had not given unto them:
  • Deuteronomy 29:27 - therefore the anger of Jehovah was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curse that is written in this book;
  • Deuteronomy 29:28 - and Jehovah rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as at this day.
  • Deuteronomy 28:1 - And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of Jehovah thy God, to observe to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that Jehovah thy God will set thee on high above all the nations of the earth:
  • Deuteronomy 28:2 - and all these blessings shall come upon thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of Jehovah thy God.
  • Deuteronomy 28:3 - Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.
  • Deuteronomy 28:4 - Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy beasts, the increase of thy cattle, and the young of thy flock.
  • Deuteronomy 28:5 - Blessed shall be thy basket and thy kneading-trough.
  • Deuteronomy 28:6 - Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
  • Deuteronomy 28:7 - Jehovah will cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thee: they shall come out against thee one way, and shall flee before thee seven ways.
  • Deuteronomy 28:8 - Jehovah will command the blessing upon thee in thy barns, and in all that thou puttest thy hand unto; and he will bless thee in the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee.
  • Deuteronomy 28:9 - Jehovah will establish thee for a holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee; if thou shalt keep the commandments of Jehovah thy God, and walk in his ways.
  • Deuteronomy 28:10 - And all the peoples of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of Jehovah; and they shall be afraid of thee.
  • Deuteronomy 28:11 - And Jehovah will make thee plenteous for good, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which Jehovah sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
  • Deuteronomy 28:12 - Jehovah will open unto thee his good treasure the heavens, to give the rain of thy land in its season, and to bless all the work of thy hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.
  • Deuteronomy 28:13 - And Jehovah will make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if thou shalt hearken unto the commandments of Jehovah thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them,
  • Deuteronomy 28:14 - and shalt not turn aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
  • Deuteronomy 28:15 - But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of Jehovah thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day, that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee.
  • Deuteronomy 28:16 - Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field.
  • Deuteronomy 28:17 - Cursed shall be thy basket and thy kneading-trough.
  • Deuteronomy 28:18 - Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, the increase of thy cattle, and the young of thy flock.
  • Deuteronomy 28:19 - Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
  • Deuteronomy 28:20 - Jehovah will send upon thee cursing, discomfiture, and rebuke, in all that thou puttest thy hand unto to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the evil of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.
  • Deuteronomy 28:21 - Jehovah will make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest in to possess it.
  • Deuteronomy 28:22 - Jehovah will smite thee with consumption, and with fever, and with inflammation, and with fiery heat, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish.
  • Deuteronomy 28:23 - And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.
  • Deuteronomy 28:24 - Jehovah will make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
  • Deuteronomy 28:25 - Jehovah will cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies; thou shalt go out one way against them, and shalt flee seven ways before them: and thou shalt be tossed to and from among all the kingdoms of the earth.
  • Deuteronomy 28:26 - And thy dead body shall be food unto all birds of the heavens, and unto the beasts of the earth; and there shall be none to frighten them away.
  • Deuteronomy 28:27 - Jehovah will smite thee with the boil of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scurvy, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed.
  • Deuteronomy 28:28 - Jehovah will smite thee with madness, and with blindness, and with astonishment of heart;
  • Deuteronomy 28:29 - and thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only oppressed and robbed alway, and there shall be none to save thee.
  • Deuteronomy 28:30 - Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her: thou shalt build a house, and thou shalt not dwell therein: thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not use the fruit thereof.
  • Deuteronomy 28:31 - Thine ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof: thine ass shall be violently taken away from before thy face, and shall not be restored to thee: thy sheep shall be given unto thine enemies, and thou shalt have none to save thee.
  • Deuteronomy 28:32 - Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people; and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day: and there shall be nought in the power of thy hand.
  • Deuteronomy 28:33 - The fruit of thy ground, and all thy labors, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed alway;
  • Deuteronomy 28:34 - so that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.
  • Deuteronomy 28:35 - Jehovah will smite thee in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore boil, whereof thou canst not be healed, from the sole of thy foot unto the crown of thy head.
  • Deuteronomy 28:36 - Jehovah will bring thee, and thy king whom thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation that thou hast not known, thou nor thy fathers; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone.
  • Deuteronomy 28:37 - And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all the peoples whither Jehovah shall lead thee away.
  • Deuteronomy 28:38 - Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather little in; for the locust shall consume it.
  • Deuteronomy 28:39 - Thou shalt plant vineyards and dress them, but thou shalt neither drink of the wine, nor gather the grapes; for the worm shall eat them.
  • Deuteronomy 28:40 - Thou shalt have olive-trees throughout all thy borders, but thou shalt not anoint thyself with the oil; for thine olive shall cast its fruit.
  • Deuteronomy 28:41 - Thou shalt beget sons and daughters, but they shall not be thine; for they shall go into captivity.
  • Deuteronomy 28:42 - All thy trees and the fruit of thy ground shall the locust possess.
  • Deuteronomy 28:43 - The sojourner that is in the midst of thee shall mount up above thee higher and higher; and thou shalt come down lower and lower.
  • Deuteronomy 28:44 - He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail.
  • Deuteronomy 28:45 - And all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of Jehovah thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee:
  • Deuteronomy 28:46 - and they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever.
  • Deuteronomy 28:47 - Because thou servedst not Jehovah thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, by reason of the abundance of all things;
  • Deuteronomy 28:48 - therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies that Jehovah shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.
  • Deuteronomy 28:49 - Jehovah will bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand;
  • Deuteronomy 28:50 - a nation of fierce countenance, that shall not regard the person of the old, nor show favor to the young,
  • Deuteronomy 28:51 - and shall eat the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy ground, until thou be destroyed; that also shall not leave thee grain, new wine, or oil, the increase of thy cattle, or the young of thy flock, until they have caused thee to perish.
  • Deuteronomy 28:52 - And they shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and fortified walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy land; and they shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which Jehovah thy God hath given thee.
  • Deuteronomy 28:53 - And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, whom Jehovah thy God hath given thee, in the siege and in the distress wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee.
  • Deuteronomy 28:54 - The man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children whom he hath remaining;
  • Deuteronomy 28:55 - so that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat, because he hath nothing left him, in the siege and in the distress wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in all thy gates.
  • Deuteronomy 28:56 - The tender and delicate woman among you, who would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter,
  • Deuteronomy 28:57 - and toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children whom she shall bear; for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly, in the siege and in the distress wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates.
  • Deuteronomy 28:58 - If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, JEHOVAH THY GOD;
  • Deuteronomy 28:59 - then Jehovah will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.
  • Deuteronomy 28:60 - And he will bring upon thee again all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee.
  • Deuteronomy 28:61 - Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will Jehovah bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
  • Deuteronomy 28:62 - And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou didst not hearken unto the voice of Jehovah thy God.
  • Deuteronomy 28:63 - And it shall come to pass, that, as Jehovah rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you, so Jehovah will rejoice over you to cause you to perish, and to destroy you; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest in to possess it.
  • Deuteronomy 28:64 - And Jehovah will scatter thee among all peoples, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou nor thy fathers, even wood and stone.
  • Deuteronomy 28:65 - And among these nations shalt thou find no ease, and there shall be no rest for the sole of thy foot: but Jehovah will give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and pining of soul;
  • Deuteronomy 28:66 - and thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear night and day, and shalt have no assurance of thy life.
  • Deuteronomy 28:67 - In the morning thou shalt say, Would it were even! and at even thou shalt say, Would it were morning! for the fear of thy heart which thou shalt fear, and for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.
  • Deuteronomy 28:68 - And Jehovah will bring thee into Egypt again with ships, by the way whereof I said unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again: and there ye shall sell yourselves unto your enemies for bondmen and for bondwomen, and no man shall buy you.
  • Psalms 107:34 - A fruitful land into a salt desert, For the wickedness of them that dwell therein.
