  • 1 Thessalonians 4:12 - so that you will behave properly toward outsiders [exhibiting good character, personal integrity, and moral courage worthy of the respect of the outside world], and be dependent on no one and in need of nothing [be self-supporting].
  • 2 Corinthians 13:7 - But I pray to God that you may do nothing wrong. Not so that we [and our teaching] may appear to be approved, but that you may continue doing what is right, even though we [by comparison] may seem to have failed.
  • 1 Peter 4:8 - Above all, have fervent and unfailing love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins [it overlooks unkindness and unselfishly seeks the best for others].

  • Titus 3:14 - Our people must learn to do good deeds to meet necessary demands [whatever the occasion may require], so that they will not be unproductive.
  • Titus 2:2 - Older men are to be temperate, dignified, sensible, sound in faith, in love, in steadfastness [Christlike in character].
  • Proverbs 20:7 - The righteous man who walks in integrity and lives life in accord with his [godly] beliefs— How blessed [happy and spiritually secure] are his children after him [who have his example to follow].
  • James 1:27 - Pure and unblemished religion [as it is expressed in outward acts] in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit and look after the fatherless and the widows in their distress, and to keep oneself uncontaminated by the [secular] world.
  • Romans 13:13 - Let us conduct ourselves properly and honorably as in the [light of] day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and irresponsibility, not in quarreling and jealousy.
  • 1 Peter 1:22 - Since by your obedience to the truth you have purified yourselves for a sincere love of the believers, [see that you] love one another from the heart [always unselfishly seeking the best for one another],
  • Ephesians 5:9 - (for the fruit [the effect, the result] of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth),

  • Hebrews 13:18 - Keep praying for us, for we are convinced that we have a good conscience, seeking to conduct ourselves honorably [that is, with moral courage and personal integrity] in all things.
  • 1 Timothy 4:12 - Let no one look down on [you because of] your youth, but be an example and set a pattern for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in [moral] purity.
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:21 - But test all things carefully [so you can recognize what is good]. Hold firmly to that which is good.
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:22 - Abstain from every form of evil [withdraw and keep away from it].
  • 2 Peter 1:3 - For His divine power has bestowed on us [absolutely] everything necessary for [a dynamic spiritual] life and godliness, through true and personal knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.

  • 2 Peter 1:6 - and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, steadfastness, and in your steadfastness, godliness,
  • 2 Peter 1:7 - and in your godliness, brotherly affection, and in your brotherly affection, [develop Christian] love [that is, learn to unselfishly seek the best for others and to do things for their benefit].
  • 2 Corinthians 8:21 - For we have regard for what is honorable [and above suspicion], not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.
  • Galatians 5:22 - But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
  • Romans 12:9 - Love is to be sincere and active [the real thing—without guile and hypocrisy]. Hate what is evil [detest all ungodliness, do not tolerate wickedness]; hold on tightly to what is good.
  • Romans 12:10 - Be devoted to one another with [authentic] brotherly affection [as members of one family], give preference to one another in honor;
  • Romans 12:11 - never lagging behind in diligence; aglow in the Spirit, enthusiastically serving the Lord;
  • Romans 12:12 - constantly rejoicing in hope [because of our confidence in Christ], steadfast and patient in distress, devoted to prayer [continually seeking wisdom, guidance, and strength],
  • Romans 12:13 - contributing to the needs of God’s people, pursuing [the practice of] hospitality.
  • Romans 12:14 - Bless those who persecute you [who cause you harm or hardship]; bless and do not curse [them].
  • Romans 12:15 - Rejoice with those who rejoice [sharing others’ joy], and weep with those who weep [sharing others’ grief].
  • Romans 12:16 - Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty [conceited, self-important, exclusive], but associate with humble people [those with a realistic self-view]. Do not overestimate yourself.
  • Romans 12:17 - Never repay anyone evil for evil. Take thought for what is right and gracious and proper in the sight of everyone.
  • Romans 12:18 - If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
  • Romans 12:19 - Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave the way open for God’s wrath [and His judicial righteousness]; for it is written [in Scripture], “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.
  • Romans 12:20 - “But if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for by doing this you will heap burning coals on his head.”
  • Romans 12:21 - Do not be overcome and conquered by evil, but overcome evil with good.
  • Titus 2:7 - And in all things show yourself to be an example of good works, with purity in doctrine [having the strictest regard for integrity and truth], dignified,
  • James 3:17 - But the wisdom from above is first pure [morally and spiritually undefiled], then peace-loving [courteous, considerate], gentle, reasonable [and willing to listen], full of compassion and good fruits. It is unwavering, without [self-righteous] hypocrisy [and self-serving guile].
