  • Acts 25:12 - Then when Festus had conferred with his council, he answered, “You have appealed to Caesar; to Caesar you shall go.”

  • John 15:20 - Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will persecute you as well; if they followed My word, they will follow yours also.
  • Luke 21:16 - But you will be betrayed even by parents, brothers and sisters, other relatives, and friends, and they will put some of you to death,
  • Luke 21:17 - and you will be hated by all people because of My name.
  • Luke 21:18 - And yet not a hair of your head will perish.
  • Acts 16:20 - and when they had brought them to the chief magistrates, they said, “These men, Jews as they are, are causing our city trouble,
  • Acts 16:21 - and they are proclaiming customs that are not lawful for us to accept or to practice, since we are Romans.”
  • Acts 16:22 - The crowd joined in an attack against them, and the chief magistrates tore their robes off them and proceeded to order them to be beaten with rods.
  • Acts 16:23 - When they had struck them with many blows, they threw them into prison, commanding the jailer to guard them securely;
  • Acts 16:24 - and he, having received such a command, threw them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks.
  • Matthew 24:9 - “Then they will hand you over to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name.
  • Matthew 24:10 - And at that time many will fall away, and they will betray one another and hate one another.
  • Acts 24:1 - Now after five days the high priest Ananias came down with some elders and an attorney named Tertullus, and they brought charges against Paul to the governor.
  • Acts 24:2 - After Paul had been summoned, Tertullus began accusing him, saying to the governor, “Since we have attained great peace through you, and since reforms are being carried out for this nation by your foresight,
  • Acts 24:3 - we acknowledge this in every way and everywhere, most excellent Felix, with all thankfulness.
  • Acts 24:4 - But, that I may not weary you further, I beg you to grant us a brief hearing, by your kindness.
  • Acts 24:5 - For we have found this man a public menace and one who stirs up dissensions among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes.
  • Acts 24:6 - And he even tried to desecrate the temple, so indeed we arrested him.
  • Acts 24:8 - By interrogating him yourself concerning all these matters, you will be able to ascertain the things of which we are accusing him.”
  • Acts 24:9 - The Jews also joined in the attack, asserting that these things were so.
  • 2 Corinthians 11:23 - Are they servants of Christ?—I am speaking as if insane—I more so; in far more labors, in far more imprisonments, beaten times without number, often in danger of death.

  • Revelation 6:9 - When the Lamb broke the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been killed because of the word of God, and because of the testimony which they had maintained;
  • Revelation 6:10 - and they cried out with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, will You refrain from judging and avenging our blood on those who live on the earth?”
  • Revelation 6:11 - And a white robe was given to each of them; and they were told that they were to rest for a little while longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers and sisters who were to be killed even as they had been, was completed also.
  • Acts 25:1 - Festus, then, after arriving in the province, went up to Jerusalem from Caesarea three days later.
  • Acts 25:2 - And the chief priests and the leading men of the Jews brought charges against Paul, and they were pleading with Festus,
  • Acts 25:3 - requesting a concession against Paul, that he might have him brought to Jerusalem (at the same time, setting an ambush to kill him on the way).
  • Acts 25:4 - Festus then answered that Paul was being kept in custody in Caesarea, and that he himself was about to leave shortly.
  • Acts 25:5 - “Therefore,” he *said, “have the influential men among you go there with me, and if there is anything wrong about the man, have them bring charges against him.”
  • Acts 25:6 - After Festus had spent no more than eight or ten days among them, he went down to Caesarea, and on the next day he took his seat on the tribunal and ordered that Paul be brought.
  • Acts 25:7 - After Paul arrived, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem stood around him, bringing many, and serious, charges against him which they could not prove,
  • Acts 25:8 - while Paul said in his own defense, “I have not done anything wrong either against the Law of the Jews, or against the temple, or against Caesar.”
  • Acts 25:9 - But Festus, wanting to do the Jews a favor, replied to Paul and said, “Are you willing to go up to Jerusalem and stand trial before me on these charges?”
  • Acts 25:10 - But Paul said, “I am standing before Caesar’s tribunal, where I ought to be tried. I have done nothing wrong to the Jews, as you also very well know.
  • Acts 25:11 - If, therefore, I am in the wrong and have committed something deserving death, I am not trying to avoid execution; but if there is nothing to the accusations which these men are bringing against me, no one can hand me over to them. I appeal to Caesar.”
  • Acts 25:12 - Then when Festus had conferred with his council, he answered, “You have appealed to Caesar; to Caesar you shall go.”
  • Acts 25:13 - Now when several days had passed, King Agrippa and Bernice arrived in Caesarea, paying their respects to Festus.
  • Acts 25:14 - And while they were spending many days there, Festus presented Paul’s case to the king, saying, “There is a man who was left as a prisoner by Felix;
  • Acts 25:15 - and when I was in Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews brought charges against him, asking for a sentence of condemnation against him.
  • Acts 25:16 - I replied to them that it is not the custom of the Romans to hand over any person before the accused meets his accusers face to face, and has an opportunity to make his defense against the charges.
  • Acts 25:17 - So after they had assembled here, I did not delay, but on the next day took my seat on the tribunal and ordered that the man be brought.
  • Acts 25:18 - When the accusers stood up, they did not begin bringing any charges against him of crimes that I suspected,
  • Acts 25:19 - but they simply had some points of disagreement with him about their own religion and about a dead man, Jesus, whom Paul asserted to be alive.
  • Acts 25:20 - And being at a loss how to investigate such matters, I asked whether he was willing to go to Jerusalem and stand trial there on these matters.
  • Acts 25:21 - But when Paul appealed to be held in custody for the Emperor’s decision, I ordered that he be kept in custody until I send him to Caesar.”
  • Acts 25:22 - Then Agrippa said to Festus, “I also would like to hear the man myself.” “Tomorrow,” he *said, “you shall hear him.”
  • Acts 25:23 - So, on the next day when Agrippa and Bernice came amid great pomp and entered the auditorium, accompanied by the commanders and the prominent men of the city, at the command of Festus, Paul was brought before them.
  • Acts 25:24 - And Festus *said, “King Agrippa, and all you gentlemen present with us, you see this man about whom all the people of the Jews appealed to me, both in Jerusalem and here, shouting that he ought not to live any longer.
  • Acts 25:25 - But I found that he had committed nothing deserving death; and since he himself appealed to the Emperor, I decided to send him.
  • Acts 25:26 - Yet, I have nothing definite about him to write to my lord. Therefore, I have brought him before you all and especially before you, King Agrippa, so that after the investigation has taken place, I may have something to write.
  • Acts 9:16 - for I will show him how much he must suffer in behalf of My name.”
  • Acts 5:17 - But the high priest stood up, along with all his associates (that is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with jealousy.
  • Acts 5:18 - They laid hands on the apostles and put them in a public prison.
  • Acts 5:19 - But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the gates of the prison, and leading them out, he said,
  • Acts 5:20 - “Go, stand and speak to the people in the temple area the whole message of this Life.”
  • Acts 5:21 - Upon hearing this, they entered into the temple area about daybreak and began to teach. Now when the high priest and his associates came, they called the Council together, that is, all the Senate of the sons of Israel, and sent orders to the prison for them to be brought.
  • Acts 5:22 - But the officers who came did not find them in the prison; and they returned and reported,
  • Acts 5:23 - saying, “We found the prison locked quite securely and the guards standing at the doors; but when we opened them, we found no one inside.”
  • Acts 5:24 - Now when the captain of the temple guard and the chief priests heard these words, they were greatly perplexed about them as to what would come of this.
  • Acts 5:25 - But someone came and reported to them, “The men whom you put in prison are standing in the temple area and teaching the people!”
  • Acts 5:26 - Then the captain went along with the officers and proceeded to bring them back without violence (for they were afraid of the people, that they might be stoned).
  • Acts 5:27 - When they had brought them, they had them stand before the Council. The high priest interrogated them,
  • Acts 5:28 - saying, “We gave you strict orders not to continue teaching in this name, and yet, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and intend to bring this Man’s blood upon us.”
  • Acts 5:29 - But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.
  • Acts 5:30 - The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you put to death by hanging Him on a cross.
  • Acts 5:31 - He is the one whom God exalted to His right hand as a Prince and a Savior, to grant repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
  • Acts 5:32 - And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him.”
  • Acts 5:33 - But when they heard this, they became infuriated and nearly decided to execute them.
  • Acts 5:34 - But a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the Law, respected by all the people, stood up in the Council and gave orders to put the men outside for a short time.
  • Acts 5:35 - And he said to them, “Men of Israel, be careful as to what you are about to do with these men.
  • Acts 5:36 - For, some time ago Theudas appeared, claiming to be somebody, and a group of about four hundred men joined him. But he was killed, and all who followed him were dispersed and came to nothing.
  • Acts 5:37 - After this man, Judas of Galilee appeared in the days of the census and drew away some people after him; he also perished, and all those who followed him were scattered.
  • Acts 5:38 - And so in the present case, I say to you, stay away from these men and leave them alone, for if the source of this plan or movement is men, it will be overthrown;
  • Acts 5:39 - but if the source is God, you will not be able to overthrow them; or else you may even be found fighting against God.”
  • Acts 5:40 - They followed his advice; and after calling the apostles in, they flogged them and ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and then released them.
  • John 16:2 - They will ban you from the synagogue, yet an hour is coming for everyone who kills you to think that he is offering a service to God.
  • Mark 13:5 - And Jesus began to say to them, “See to it that no one misleads you.
  • Matthew 10:17 - But be on guard against people, for they will hand you over to the courts and flog you in their synagogues;
  • Matthew 10:18 - and you will even be brought before governors and kings on My account, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles.
