  • 1 Samuel 7:6 - So they gathered at Mizpah and, in a great ceremony, drew water from a well and poured it out before the Lord. They also went without food all day and confessed that they had sinned against the Lord. (It was at Mizpah that Samuel became Israel’s judge.)
  • Zechariah 1:3 - Therefore, say to the people, ‘This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Return to me, and I will return to you, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.’
  • Zechariah 1:4 - Don’t be like your ancestors who would not listen or pay attention when the earlier prophets said to them, ‘This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Turn from your evil ways, and stop all your evil practices.’
  • Jeremiah 29:12 - In those days when you pray, I will listen.

  • Jonah 3:5 - The people of Nineveh believed God’s message, and from the greatest to the least, they declared a fast and put on burlap to show their sorrow.
  • Jonah 3:6 - When the king of Nineveh heard what Jonah was saying, he stepped down from his throne and took off his royal robes. He dressed himself in burlap and sat on a heap of ashes.
  • Jonah 3:7 - Then the king and his nobles sent this decree throughout the city: “No one, not even the animals from your herds and flocks, may eat or drink anything at all.
  • Jonah 3:8 - People and animals alike must wear garments of mourning, and everyone must pray earnestly to God. They must turn from their evil ways and stop all their violence.
  • Deuteronomy 4:29 - But from there you will search again for the Lord your God. And if you search for him with all your heart and soul, you will find him.
  • Deuteronomy 4:30 - “In the distant future, when you are suffering all these things, you will finally return to the Lord your God and listen to what he tells you.
  • 2 Chronicles 7:13 - At times I might shut up the heavens so that no rain falls, or command grasshoppers to devour your crops, or send plagues among you.
  • 2 Chronicles 7:14 - Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.
  • Jeremiah 4:1 - “O Israel,” says the Lord, “if you wanted to return to me, you could. You could throw away your detestable idols and stray away no more.
  • James 4:8 - Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.
  • James 4:9 - Let there be tears for what you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy.
  • Isaiah 55:6 - Seek the Lord while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near.
  • Isaiah 55:7 - Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong. Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously.
  • Hosea 12:6 - So now, come back to your God. Act with love and justice, and always depend on him.
