  • Luke 16:24 - And he cried out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in severe agony in this flame.’
  • Luke 16:25 - But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things [all the comforts and delights], and Lazarus likewise bad things [all the discomforts and distresses]; but now he is comforted here [in paradise], while you are in severe agony.
  • John 11:3 - So the sisters sent word to Him, saying, “Lord, he [our brother and Your friend] whom You love is sick.”
  • John 11:5 - Now Jesus loved and was concerned about Martha and her sister and Lazarus [and considered them dear friends].
  • John 11:6 - So [even] when He heard that Lazarus was sick, He stayed in the same place two more days.
  • Matthew 21:17 - Then He left them and went out of the city to Bethany, and spent the night there.
  • Luke 10:38 - Now while they were on their way, Jesus entered a village [called Bethany], and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home.
  • Luke 10:39 - She had a sister named Mary, who seated herself at the Lord’s feet and was continually listening to His teaching.
  • Luke 10:40 - But Martha was very busy and distracted with all of her serving responsibilities; and she approached Him and said, “Lord, is it of no concern to You that my sister has left me to do the serving alone? Tell her to help me and do her part.”
  • Luke 10:41 - But the Lord replied to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered and anxious about so many things;
  • Luke 10:42 - but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part [that which is to her advantage], which will not be taken away from her.”
  • John 12:17 - So the people, who were with Him when He called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead, continued to tell others about Him.
