- Genesis 18:28 - If five of the fifty righteous are lacking, will You destroy the entire city for lack of five?” And He said, “If I find [at least] forty-five [righteous people] there, I will not destroy it.”
- Genesis 18:29 - Abraham spoke to Him yet again and said, “Suppose [only] forty are found there.” And He said, “I will not do it for the sake of the forty [who are righteous].”
- Genesis 18:30 - Then Abraham said [to Him], “Oh, may the Lord not be angry, and I will speak; suppose thirty [righteous people] are found there?” And He said, “I will not do it if I find thirty there.”
- Genesis 18:31 - And he said, “Now behold, I have decided to speak to the Lord [again]. Suppose [only] twenty [righteous people] are found there?” And the Lord said, “I will not destroy it for the sake of the twenty.”
- Genesis 18:32 - Then Abraham said, “Oh may the Lord not be angry [with me], and I will speak only this once; suppose ten [righteous people] are found there?” And He said, “I will not destroy it for the sake of the ten.”

- Luke 18:1 - Now Jesus was telling the disciples a parable to make the point that at all times they ought to pray and not give up and lose heart,
- Luke 18:2 - saying, “In a certain city there was a judge who did not fear God and had no respect for man.
- Luke 18:3 - There was a [desperate] widow in that city and she kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice and legal protection from my adversary.’
- Luke 18:4 - For a time he would not; but later he said to himself, ‘Even though I do not fear God nor respect man,
- Luke 18:5 - yet because this widow continues to bother me, I will give her justice and legal protection; otherwise by continually coming she [will be an intolerable annoyance and she] will wear me out.’ ”
- Luke 18:6 - Then the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says!
- Luke 18:7 - And will not [our just] God defend and avenge His elect [His chosen ones] who cry out to Him day and night? Will He delay [in providing justice] on their behalf?
- Luke 18:8 - I tell you that He will defend and avenge them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find [this kind of persistent] faith on the earth?”
- Hebrews 12:13 - Cut through and make smooth, straight paths for your feet [that are safe and go in the right direction], so that the leg which is lame may not be put out of joint, but rather may be healed.
- 2 Kings 20:2 - Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, saying,

- 1 Thessalonians 5:17 - be unceasing and persistent in prayer;

- Psalms 34:15 - The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous [those with moral courage and spiritual integrity] And His ears are open to their cry.
- 1 Peter 2:24 - He personally carried our sins in His body on the cross [willingly offering Himself on it, as on an altar of sacrifice], so that we might die to sin [becoming immune from the penalty and power of sin] and live for righteousness; for by His wounds you [who believe] have been healed.
- Matthew 21:22 - And whatever you ask for in prayer, believing, you will receive.”
- John 9:31 - We know [according to your tradition] that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone fears God and does His will, He hears him.
- Proverbs 15:29 - The Lord is far from the wicked [and distances Himself from them], But He hears the prayer of the [consistently] righteous [that is, those with spiritual integrity and moral courage].
- Jeremiah 29:12 - Then you will call on Me and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear [your voice] and I will listen to you.
- Jeremiah 29:13 - Then [with a deep longing] you will seek Me and require Me [as a vital necessity] and [you will] find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
