  • 2 Chronicles 36:15 - The Lord, the God of Israel, sent word to his people through his messengers. He sent it to them again and again. He took pity on his people. He also took pity on the temple where he lived.
  • 2 Chronicles 36:16 - But God’s people made fun of his messengers. They hated his words. They laughed at his prophets. Finally the Lord’s great anger was stirred up against his people. Nothing could save them.
  • Isaiah 1:10 - Rulers of Sodom, hear the Lord’s message. People of Gomorrah, listen to the instruction of our God.
  • Proverbs 28:9 - If you don’t pay attention to my instruction, even your prayers are hated.
  • Isaiah 1:4 - How terrible it will be for this sinful nation! They are loaded down with guilt. They are people who do nothing but evil. They are children who are always sinning. They have deserted the Lord. They have turned against the Holy One of Israel. They have turned their backs on him.
  • Romans 2:21 - You claim to teach others, but you don’t even teach yourself! You preach against stealing. But you steal!
  • Romans 2:22 - You say that people should not commit adultery. But you commit adultery! You hate statues of gods. But you rob temples!
  • Romans 2:23 - You brag about the law. But when you break it, you rob God of his honor!
  • Isaiah 59:3 - Your hands and fingers are stained with blood. You are guilty of committing murder. Your mouth has told lies. Your tongue says evil things.
  • Isaiah 59:4 - People aren’t fair when they present cases in court. They aren’t honest when they state their case. They depend on weak arguments. They tell lies. They plan to make trouble. Then they carry it out.
  • Jeremiah 9:3 - “They get ready to use their tongues like bows,” announces the Lord. “Their mouths shoot out lies like arrows. They tell lies to gain power in the land. They go from one sin to another. They do not pay any attention to me.
  • Nehemiah 9:29 - “You warned them so that they would obey your law again. But they became proud. They didn’t obey your commands. They sinned against your rules. You said, ‘Anyone who obeys my rules will live by them.’ But the people didn’t care about that. They turned their backs on you. They became very stubborn. They refused to listen to you.
  • Nehemiah 9:30 - For many years you put up with them. By your Spirit you warned them through your prophets. In spite of that, they didn’t pay any attention. So you handed them over to the nations that were around them.
  • Zechariah 1:4 - “Do not be like your people of long ago. The earlier prophets gave them my message. I said, ‘Stop doing what is evil. Turn away from your sinful practices.’ But they would not listen to me. They would not pay any attention,” announces the Lord.
  • Zechariah 1:5 - “Where are those people now? And what about my prophets? Do they live forever?
  • Zechariah 1:6 - I commanded my servants the prophets what to say. I told them what I planned to do. But your people refused to obey me. So I had to punish them. “Then they had a change of heart. They said, ‘The Lord who rules over all has punished us because of how we have lived. He was fair and right to do that. He has done to us just what he decided to do.’ ”
  • Deuteronomy 32:20 - “I will turn my face away from them,” he said. “I will see what will happen to them in the end. They are sinful people. They are unfaithful children.
  • Isaiah 63:8 - In the past he said, “They are my people. They are children who will be faithful to me.” So he saved them.
  • Jeremiah 7:13 - I spoke to you again and again,” announces the Lord. “I warned you while you were doing all these things. But you did not listen. I called out to you. But you did not answer.
  • Revelation 22:15 - Outside the city are those who are impure. These people include those who practice witchcraft. Outside are also those who commit sexual sins and murder. Outside are those who worship statues of gods. And outside is everyone who loves and does what is false.
  • Zechariah 7:11 - But they refused to pay attention to the Lord. They were stubborn. They turned their backs and covered their ears.
  • Zechariah 7:12 - They made their hearts as hard as the hardest stone. They wouldn’t listen to the law. They wouldn’t pay attention to the Lord’s messages. So the Lord who rules over all was very angry. After all, his Spirit had spoken to his people through the earlier prophets.
  • Hosea 4:2 - People curse one another. They tell lies and commit murder. They steal and commit adultery. They break all my laws. They keep spilling the blood of other people.
  • Zephaniah 3:2 - They don’t obey anyone. They don’t accept the Lord’s warnings. They don’t trust in him. They don’t ask their God for his help.
  • Deuteronomy 31:27 - I know how you refuse to obey the Lord. I know how stubborn you are. You have refused to obey him while I’ve been living among you. So you will certainly refuse to obey him after I’m dead!
  • Deuteronomy 31:28 - Gather together all the elders of your tribes and all your officials. Bring them to me. Then I can speak these words to them. I can call for the heavens and the earth to be witnesses against them.
  • Deuteronomy 31:29 - I know that after I’m dead you will certainly become very sinful. You will turn away from the path I’ve commanded you to take. In days to come, trouble will fall on you. That’s because you will do what is evil in the sight of the Lord. You will make him very angry because of the statues of gods your hands have made.”
  • Acts 7:51 - “You stubborn people! You won’t obey! You won’t listen! You are just like your people of long ago! You always oppose the Holy Spirit!
  • 2 Chronicles 33:10 - The Lord spoke to Manasseh and his people. But they didn’t pay any attention to him.
  • Matthew 23:31 - So you are witnesses against yourselves. You admit that you are the children of those who murdered the prophets.
  • Matthew 23:32 - So go ahead and finish the sins that those who lived before you started!
  • Matthew 23:33 - “You nest of poisonous snakes! How will you escape from being sentenced to hell?
  • Isaiah 28:15 - You brag, “We have entered into a covenant with the place of the dead. We have made an agreement with the grave. When a terrible plague comes to punish us, it can’t touch us. That’s because we depend on lies to keep us safe. We hide behind what isn’t true.”
  • Revelation 21:8 - But others will be thrown into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur. Those who are afraid and those who do not believe will be there. Murderers and those who make themselves impure will join them. Those who commit sexual sins and those who practice witchcraft will go there. Those who worship statues of gods and all who tell lies will be there too. The lake of fire is the second death.”
  • Isaiah 30:1 - “How terrible it will be for these stubborn children of mine!” announces the Lord. “How terrible for those who carry out plans that did not come from me! Their agreement with Egypt did not come from my Spirit. So they pile up one sin on top of another.
