- Genesis 34:10 - So you will live with us, and the land shall be open to you; live and trade in it and acquire property in it.”
- Genesis 34:11 - Shechem also said to her father and to her brothers, “Let me find favor in your sight, and I will give whatever you tell me.
- Genesis 34:12 - Demand of me ever so much bridal payment and gift, and I will give whatever you tell me; but give me the girl in marriage.”
- Genesis 34:13 - But Jacob’s sons answered Shechem and his father Hamor with deceit, because he had defiled their sister Dinah.
- Genesis 34:14 - They said to them, “We cannot do this thing, that is, give our sister to a man who is uncircumcised, for that would be a disgrace to us.

- Genesis 34:18 - Now their words seemed reasonable to Hamor and Shechem, Hamor’s son.
- Genesis 34:19 - The young man did not delay to do this, because he was delighted with Jacob’s daughter. Now he was more respected than all the household of his father.

- Genesis 34:21 - “These men are friendly to us; therefore let them live in the land and trade in it, for behold, the land is large enough for them. We will take their daughters in marriage, and give our daughters to them.
- Genesis 34:22 - Only on this condition will the men consent to us to live with us, to become one people: that every male among us be circumcised just as they are circumcised.
- Genesis 34:23 - Will their livestock and their property and all their animals not be ours? Let’s just consent to them, and they will live with us.”
- Genesis 34:24 - All who went out of the gate of his city listened to Hamor and to his son Shechem, and every male was circumcised, all who went out of the gate of his city.
- Genesis 34:25 - Now it came about on the third day, when they were in pain, that two of Jacob’s sons—Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brothers—each took his sword and came upon the city undetected, and killed every male.

- Numbers 1:16 - These are the men who were called from the congregation, the leaders of their fathers’ tribes; they were the heads of divisions of Israel.”

- Numbers 1:42 - Of the sons of Naphtali, their descendants by their families, by their fathers’ households, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and upward, whoever was able to go to war,

- Numbers 1:44 - These are the ones who were numbered, whom Moses and Aaron counted, with the leaders of Israel, twelve men, each of whom was of his father’s household.
- Numbers 1:45 - So all the numbered men of the sons of Israel by their fathers’ households, from twenty years old and upward, whoever was able to go to war in Israel,
- Numbers 1:46 - all the numbered men were 603,550.
- Numbers 1:47 - The Levites, however, were not counted among them by their fathers’ tribe.
- Numbers 1:48 - For the Lord had spoken to Moses, saying,
- Numbers 1:49 - “Only the tribe of Levi you shall not count, nor shall you take their census among the sons of Israel.
- Numbers 1:50 - And you shall appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of the testimony, and over all its furnishings and over everything that belongs to it. They shall carry the tabernacle and all its furnishings, and they shall take care of it; they shall also camp around the tabernacle.
- Numbers 1:51 - So when the tabernacle is to move on, the Levites shall take it down; and when the tabernacle encamps, the Levites shall set it up. But the layman who comes near it shall be put to death.
- Numbers 1:52 - So the sons of Israel shall camp, each man by his own camp, and each man by his own flag, according to their armies.
- Numbers 1:53 - But the Levites shall camp around the tabernacle of the testimony, so that there will be no divine wrath against the congregation of the sons of Israel. So the Levites shall be responsible for service to the tabernacle of the testimony.”
- Numbers 1:54 - And the sons of Israel did so; in accordance with all that the Lord had commanded Moses, so they did.
- Genesis 35:23 - the sons of Leah were Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn, then Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun;

- Numbers 10:2 - “Make yourself two trumpets of silver, you shall make them of hammered work; and you shall use them for summoning the congregation and breaking camp.

- Numbers 10:6 - Then when you sound an alarm the second time, the camps that are pitched on the south side shall set out; an alarm is to be sounded for them to break camp.
- Numbers 10:7 - When convening the assembly, however, you shall blow the trumpets without sounding an alarm.
- Numbers 10:8 - The sons of Aaron, moreover, the priests, shall blow the trumpets; and this shall be a permanent statute for you throughout your generations.
- Numbers 10:9 - And when you go to war in your land against the enemy who attacks you, then you shall sound an alarm with the trumpets, so that you will be thought of by the Lord your God, and be saved from your enemies.
- Numbers 10:10 - Also on the day of your joy and at your appointed feasts, and on the first days of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; and they shall be as a reminder of you before your God. I am the Lord your God.”
- Numbers 10:11 - Now in the second year, in the second month, on the twentieth of the month, the cloud was lifted from above the tabernacle of the testimony;
- Numbers 10:12 - and the sons of Israel set out on their journeys from the wilderness of Sinai. Then the cloud settled in the wilderness of Paran.
- Numbers 10:13 - So they moved on for the first time in accordance with the command of the Lord through Moses.
- Numbers 10:14 - The flag of the camp of the sons of Judah, by their armies, set out first, with Nahshon the son of Amminadab, over its army,
- Numbers 10:15 - and Nethanel the son of Zuar, over the tribal army of the sons of Issachar;
- Numbers 10:16 - and Eliab the son of Helon over the tribal army of the sons of Zebulun.
- Numbers 10:17 - Then the tabernacle was taken down; and the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari, who were carrying the tabernacle, set out.
- Numbers 10:18 - Next the flag of the camp of Reuben, by their armies, set out with Elizur the son of Shedeur, over its army,
- Numbers 10:19 - and Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai over the tribal army of the sons of Simeon,
- Numbers 10:20 - and Eliasaph the son of Deuel was over the tribal army of the sons of Gad.
- Numbers 10:21 - Then the Kohathites set out, carrying the holy objects; and the tabernacle was set up before their arrival.
- Numbers 10:22 - Next the flag of the camp of the sons of Ephraim, by their armies, set out, with Elishama the son of Ammihud over its army,
- Numbers 10:23 - and Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur over the tribal army of the sons of Manasseh;
- Numbers 10:24 - and Abidan the son of Gideoni over the tribal army of the sons of Benjamin.
- Numbers 10:25 - Then the flag of the camp of the sons of Dan, by their armies, which formed the rear guard for all the camps, set out, with Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai over its army,
- Numbers 10:26 - and Pagiel the son of Ochran over the tribal army of the sons of Asher;
- Numbers 10:27 - and Ahira the son of Enan over the tribal army of the sons of Naphtali.
- Numbers 10:28 - This was the order of marching for the sons of Israel by their armies as they set out.
- Numbers 10:29 - Then Moses said to Hobab the son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses’ father-in-law, “We are setting out to the place of which the Lord said, ‘I will give it to you.’ Come with us and we will do you good, for the Lord has promised good concerning Israel.”
- Numbers 10:30 - But he said to him, “I will not come, but rather will go to my own land and relatives.”
- Numbers 10:31 - Then he said, “Please do not leave us, since you know where we should camp in the wilderness, and you will be as eyes for us.
- Numbers 10:32 - So it will be, if you go with us, that whatever good the Lord does for us, we will do for you.”
- Numbers 10:33 - So they moved on from the mountain of the Lord three days’ journey, with the ark of the covenant of the Lord going on in front of them for the three days, to seek out a resting place for them.
- Numbers 10:34 - And the cloud of the Lord was over them by day when they set out from the camp.
- Numbers 10:35 - Then it came about when the ark set out that Moses said, “Rise up, Lord! And may Your enemies be scattered, And those who hate You flee from Your presence.”
- Numbers 10:36 - And when it came to rest, he said, “Return, Lord, To the myriad thousands of Israel.”
- Genesis 29:32 - Leah conceived and gave birth to a son, and named him Reuben, for she said, “Because the Lord has seen my affliction; surely now my husband will love me.”
- Genesis 29:33 - Then she conceived again and gave birth to a son, and said, “Because the Lord has heard that I am unloved, He has therefore given me this son also.” So she named him Simeon.
- Genesis 29:34 - And she conceived again and gave birth to a son, and said, “Now this time my husband will become attached to me, because I have borne him three sons.” Therefore he was named Levi.
- Genesis 29:35 - And she conceived again and gave birth to a son, and said, “This time I will praise the Lord.” Therefore she named him Judah. Then she stopped having children.
- Genesis 30:17 - God listened to Leah, and she conceived and bore Jacob a fifth son.
- Genesis 30:18 - Then Leah said, “God has given me my reward, because I gave my slave to my husband.” So she named him Issachar.
- Genesis 30:19 - And Leah conceived again and bore a sixth son to Jacob.
- Genesis 30:20 - Then Leah said, “God has endowed me with a good gift; finally my husband will acknowledge me as his wife, because I have borne him six sons.” So she named him Zebulun.
- Genesis 30:21 - Afterward she gave birth to a daughter, and named her Dinah.
