  • Nehemiah 13:25 - And I contended with them, and cursed them, and smote certain of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, saying, Ye shall not give your daughters unto their sons, nor take their daughters unto your sons, or for yourselves.
  • Nehemiah 13:26 - Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? yet among many nations was there no king like him, who was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel: nevertheless even him did outlandish women cause to sin.
  • Nehemiah 13:27 - Shall we then hearken unto you to do all this great evil, to transgress against our God in marrying strange wives?
  • Nehemiah 13:28 - And one of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son in law to Sanballat the Horonite: therefore I chased him from me.
  • Judges 10:6 - And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the Lord, and served Baalim, and Ashtoreth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsook the Lord, and served not him.
  • Judges 10:7 - And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hands of the Philistines, and into the hands of the children of Ammon.
  • Judges 10:8 - And that year they vexed and oppressed the children of Israel: eighteen years, all the children of Israel that were on the other side Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead.
  • Judges 10:9 - Moreover the children of Ammon passed over Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim; so that Israel was sore distressed.
  • Judges 10:10 - And the children of Israel cried unto the Lord, saying, We have sinned against thee, both because we have forsaken our God, and also served Baalim.
  • Judges 10:11 - And the Lord said unto the children of Israel, Did not I deliver you from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines?
  • Judges 10:12 - The Zidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, did oppress you; and ye cried to me, and I delivered you out of their hand.
  • Judges 10:13 - Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more.
  • Judges 10:14 - Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation.
  • Judges 10:15 - And the children of Israel said unto the Lord, We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; deliver us only, we pray thee, this day.
  • Judges 10:16 - And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the Lord: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.
  • Judges 10:17 - Then the children of Ammon were gathered together, and encamped in Gilead. And the children of Israel assembled themselves together, and encamped in Mizpah.
  • Judges 10:18 - And the people and princes of Gilead said one to another, What man is he that will begin to fight against the children of Ammon? he shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.
  • Isaiah 11:14 - But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them.
  • 2 Samuel 10:1 - And it came to pass after this, that the king of the children of Ammon died, and Hanun his son reigned in his stead.
  • 2 Samuel 10:2 - Then said David, I will shew kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father shewed kindness unto me. And David sent to comfort him by the hand of his servants for his father. And David's servants came into the land of the children of Ammon.
  • 2 Samuel 10:3 - And the princes of the children of Ammon said unto Hanun their lord, Thinkest thou that David doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? hath not David rather sent his servants unto thee, to search the city, and to spy it out, and to overthrow it?
  • 2 Samuel 10:4 - Wherefore Hanun took David's servants, and shaved off the one half of their beards, and cut off their garments in the middle, even to their buttocks, and sent them away.
  • 2 Samuel 10:5 - When they told it unto David, he sent to meet them, because the men were greatly ashamed: and the king said, Tarry at Jericho until your beards be grown, and then return.
  • 2 Samuel 10:6 - And when the children of Ammon saw that they stank before David, the children of Ammon sent and hired the Syrians of Beth–rehob, and the Syrians of Zobah, twenty thousand footmen, and of king Maacah a thousand men, and of Ish–tob twelve thousand men.
  • 2 Samuel 10:7 - And when David heard of it, he sent Joab, and all the host of the mighty men.
  • 2 Samuel 10:8 - And the children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array at the entering in of the gate: and the Syrians of Zobah, and of Rehob, and Ish–tob, and Maacah, were by themselves in the field.
  • 2 Samuel 10:9 - When Joab saw that the front of the battle was against him before and behind, he chose of all the choice men of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians:
  • 2 Samuel 10:10 - And the rest of the people he delivered into the hand of Abishai his brother, that he might put them in array against the children of Ammon.
  • 2 Samuel 10:11 - And he said, If the Syrians be too strong for me, then thou shalt help me: but if the children of Ammon be too strong for thee, then I will come and help thee.
  • 2 Samuel 10:12 - Be of good courage, and let us play the men for our people, and for the cities of our God: and the Lord do that which seemeth him good.
  • 2 Samuel 10:13 - And Joab drew nigh, and the people that were with him, unto the battle against the Syrians: and they fled before him.
  • 2 Samuel 10:14 - And when the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians were fled, then fled they also before Abishai, and entered into the city. So Joab returned from the children of Ammon, and came to Jerusalem.
  • 2 Samuel 10:15 - And when the Syrians saw that they were smitten before Israel, they gathered themselves together.
  • 2 Samuel 10:16 - And Hadadezer sent, and brought out the Syrians that were beyond the river: and they came to Helam; and Shobach the captain of the host of Hadadezer went before them.
  • 2 Samuel 10:17 - And when it was told David, he gathered all Israel together, and passed over Jordan, and came to Helam. And the Syrians set themselves in array against David, and fought with him.
  • 2 Samuel 10:18 - And the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew the men of seven hundred chariots of the Syrians, and forty thousand horsemen, and smote Shobach the captain of their host, who died there.
  • 2 Samuel 10:19 - And when all the kings that were servants to Hadadezer saw that they were smitten before Israel, they made peace with Israel, and served them. So the Syrians feared to help the children of Ammon any more.
  • Deuteronomy 2:9 - And the Lord said unto me, Distress not the Moabites, neither contend with them in battle: for I will not give thee of their land for a possession; because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot for a possession.
  • Nehemiah 13:1 - On that day they read in the book of Moses in the audience of the people; and therein was found written, that the Ammonite and the Moabite should not come into the congregation of God for ever;

  • Deuteronomy 23:3 - An Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord; even to their tenth generation shall they not enter into the congregation of the Lord for ever:
  • 1 Samuel 11:1 - Then Nahash the Ammonite came up, and encamped against Jabesh–gilead: and all the men of Jabesh said unto Nahash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve thee.
  • 1 Samuel 11:2 - And Nahash the Ammonite answered them, On this condition will I make a covenant with you, that I may thrust out all your right eyes, and lay it for a reproach upon all Israel.
  • 1 Samuel 11:3 - And the elders of Jabesh said unto him, Give us seven days' respite, that we may send messengers unto all the coasts of Israel: and then, if there be no man to save us, we will come out to thee.
  • 1 Samuel 11:4 - Then came the messengers to Gibeah of Saul, and told the tidings in the ears of the people: and all the people lifted up their voices, and wept.
  • 1 Samuel 11:5 - And, behold, Saul came after the herd out of the field; and Saul said, What aileth the people that they weep? And they told him the tidings of the men of Jabesh.
  • 1 Samuel 11:6 - And the Spirit of God came upon Saul when he heard those tidings, and his anger was kindled greatly.
  • 1 Samuel 11:7 - And he took a yoke of oxen, and hewed them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the coasts of Israel by the hands of messengers, saying, Whosoever cometh not forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done unto his oxen. And the fear of the Lord fell on the people, and they came out with one consent.
  • 1 Samuel 11:8 - And when he numbered them in Bezek, the children of Israel were three hundred thousand, and the men of Judah thirty thousand.
  • 1 Samuel 11:9 - And they said unto the messengers that came, Thus shall ye say unto the men of Jabesh–gilead, To morrow, by that time the sun be hot, ye shall have help. And the messengers came and shewed it to the men of Jabesh; and they were glad.
  • 1 Samuel 11:10 - Therefore the men of Jabesh said, To morrow we will come out unto you, and ye shall do with us all that seemeth good unto you.
  • 1 Samuel 11:11 - And it was so on the morrow, that Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the host in the morning watch, and slew the Ammonites until the heat of the day: and it came to pass, that they which remained were scattered, so that two of them were not left together.
  • 1 Samuel 11:12 - And the people said unto Samuel, Who is he that said, Shall Saul reign over us? bring the men, that we may put them to death.
  • 1 Samuel 11:13 - And Saul said, There shall not a man be put to death this day: for to day the Lord hath wrought salvation in Israel.
  • 1 Samuel 11:14 - Then said Samuel to the people, Come, and let us go to Gilgal, and renew the kingdom there.
  • 1 Samuel 11:15 - And all the people went to Gilgal; and there they made Saul king before the Lord in Gilgal; and there they sacrificed sacrifices of peace offerings before the Lord; and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.
  • Psalms 83:4 - They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
  • Psalms 83:5 - For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:
  • Psalms 83:6 - The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarites;
  • Psalms 83:7 - Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;
  • Psalms 83:8 - Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.
  • Deuteronomy 2:19 - And when thou comest nigh over against the children of Ammon, distress them not, nor meddle with them: for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon any possession; because I have given it unto the children of Lot for a possession.
