  • Judges 6:16 - The Lord said to him, “Ah, but I will be with you! You will strike down the whole Midianite army.”
  • Genesis 32:24 - So Jacob was left alone. Then a man wrestled with him until daybreak.
  • Genesis 32:25 - When the man saw that he could not defeat Jacob, he struck the socket of his hip so the socket of Jacob’s hip was dislocated while he wrestled with him.

  • Genesis 32:27 - The man asked him, “What is your name?” He answered, “Jacob.”

  • Genesis 32:29 - Then Jacob asked, “Please tell me your name.” “Why do you ask my name?” the man replied. Then he blessed Jacob there.
  • Genesis 32:30 - So Jacob named the place Peniel, explaining, “Certainly I have seen God face to face and have survived.”
  • Acts 7:30 - “After forty years had passed, an angel appeared to him in the desert of Mount Sinai, in the flame of a burning bush.

  • Hosea 12:3 - In the womb he attacked his brother; in his manly vigor he struggled with God.
  • Hosea 12:4 - He struggled with an angel and prevailed; he wept and begged for his favor. He found God at Bethel, and there he spoke with him!
  • Hosea 12:5 - As for the Lord God Almighty, the Lord is the name by which he is remembered!
  • Zechariah 2:8 - For the Lord who rules over all says to me that for his own glory he has sent me to the nations that plundered you – for anyone who touches you touches the pupil of his eye.
  • Zechariah 2:9 - “I am about to punish them in such a way,” he says, “that they will be looted by their own slaves.” Then you will know that the Lord who rules over all has sent me.
  • Judges 13:16 - The Lord’s messenger said to Manoah, “If I stay, I will not eat your food. But if you want to make a burnt sacrifice to the Lord, you should offer it.” (He said this because Manoah did not know that he was the Lord’s messenger.)
  • Judges 13:17 - Manoah said to the Lord’s messenger, “Tell us your name, so we can honor you when your announcement comes true.”
  • Judges 13:18 - The Lord’s messenger said to him, “You should not ask me my name, because you cannot comprehend it.”
  • Judges 13:19 - Manoah took a young goat and a grain offering and offered them on a rock to the Lord. The Lord’s messenger did an amazing thing as Manoah and his wife watched.
  • Judges 13:20 - As the flame went up from the altar toward the sky, the Lord’s messenger went up in it while Manoah and his wife watched. They fell facedown to the ground.
  • Judges 13:21 - The Lord’s messenger did not appear again to Manoah and his wife. After all this happened Manoah realized that the visitor had been the Lord’s messenger.
  • Judges 13:22 - Manoah said to his wife, “We will certainly die, because we have seen a supernatural being!”
  • Genesis 22:15 - The Lord’s angel called to Abraham a second time from heaven
  • Genesis 22:16 - and said, “‘I solemnly swear by my own name,’ decrees the Lord, ‘that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son,

  • Genesis 25:12 - This is the account of Abraham’s son Ishmael, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah’s servant, bore to Abraham.

  • Genesis 25:16 - These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names by their settlements and their camps – twelve princes according to their clans.
  • Genesis 25:17 - Ishmael lived a total of 137 years. He breathed his last and died; then he joined his ancestors.
  • Genesis 25:18 - His descendants settled from Havilah to Shur, which runs next to Egypt all the way to Asshur. They settled away from all their relatives.
  • Genesis 21:18 - Get up! Help the boy up and hold him by the hand, for I will make him into a great nation.”
