  • Galatians 5:17 - The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.
  • John 3:6 - Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life.
  • Ephesians 4:17 - With the Lord’s authority I say this: Live no longer as the Gentiles do, for they are hopelessly confused.
  • Ephesians 4:18 - Their minds are full of darkness; they wander far from the life God gives because they have closed their minds and hardened their hearts against him.
  • Ephesians 4:19 - They have no sense of shame. They live for lustful pleasure and eagerly practice every kind of impurity.
  • Psalms 17:4 - I have followed your commands, which keep me from following cruel and evil people.
  • Romans 7:5 - When we were controlled by our old nature, sinful desires were at work within us, and the law aroused these evil desires that produced a harvest of sinful deeds, resulting in death.
  • Romans 8:9 - But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.)
  • Romans 7:18 - And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t.
  • 1 Corinthians 6:18 - Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body.
  • Romans 1:21 - Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused.
  • Romans 1:22 - Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools.
  • Romans 1:23 - And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles.
  • Romans 1:24 - So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies.
  • Romans 1:25 - They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.
  • Romans 1:26 - That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other.
  • Romans 1:27 - And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved.
  • Romans 1:28 - Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done.
  • Romans 1:29 - Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip.
  • Romans 1:30 - They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents.
  • Romans 1:31 - They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy.
  • Romans 1:32 - They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.
  • James 3:14 - But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your heart, don’t cover up the truth with boasting and lying.
  • James 3:15 - For jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic.
  • 2 Corinthians 12:20 - For I am afraid that when I come I won’t like what I find, and you won’t like my response. I am afraid that I will find quarreling, jealousy, anger, selfishness, slander, gossip, arrogance, and disorderly behavior.
  • 2 Corinthians 12:21 - Yes, I am afraid that when I come again, God will humble me in your presence. And I will be grieved because many of you have not given up your old sins. You have not repented of your impurity, sexual immorality, and eagerness for lustful pleasure.
  • Romans 8:13 - For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live.
  • 1 Timothy 1:9 - For the law was not intended for people who do what is right. It is for people who are lawless and rebellious, who are ungodly and sinful, who consider nothing sacred and defile what is holy, who kill their father or mother or commit other murders.
  • 1 Timothy 1:10 - The law is for people who are sexually immoral, or who practice homosexuality, or are slave traders, liars, promise breakers, or who do anything else that contradicts the wholesome teaching
  • Romans 8:5 - Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit.
  • Revelation 22:15 - Outside the city are the dogs—the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idol worshipers, and all who love to live a lie.
  • Mark 7:21 - For from within, out of a person’s heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder,
  • Mark 7:22 - adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness.
  • Mark 7:23 - All these vile things come from within; they are what defile you.”
  • 1 Corinthians 3:3 - for you are still controlled by your sinful nature. You are jealous of one another and quarrel with each other. Doesn’t that prove you are controlled by your sinful nature? Aren’t you living like people of the world?
  • Galatians 6:8 - Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.
  • Titus 3:3 - Once we, too, were foolish and disobedient. We were misled and became slaves to many lusts and pleasures. Our lives were full of evil and envy, and we hated each other.
  • Revelation 21:8 - “But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars—their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
  • Colossians 3:5 - So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.
  • Colossians 3:6 - Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming.
  • Colossians 3:7 - You used to do these things when your life was still part of this world.
  • Colossians 3:8 - But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language.
  • Ephesians 5:3 - Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people.
  • Ephesians 5:4 - Obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse jokes—these are not for you. Instead, let there be thankfulness to God.
  • Ephesians 5:5 - You can be sure that no immoral, impure, or greedy person will inherit the Kingdom of Christ and of God. For a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.
  • Ephesians 5:6 - Don’t be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for the anger of God will fall on all who disobey him.
  • Matthew 15:18 - But the words you speak come from the heart—that’s what defiles you.
  • Matthew 15:19 - For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander.
  • 1 Peter 4:2 - You won’t spend the rest of your lives chasing your own desires, but you will be anxious to do the will of God.
  • 1 Peter 4:3 - You have had enough in the past of the evil things that godless people enjoy—their immorality and lust, their feasting and drunkenness and wild parties, and their terrible worship of idols.
  • 1 Peter 4:4 - Of course, your former friends are surprised when you no longer plunge into the flood of wild and destructive things they do. So they slander you.
  • 1 Corinthians 6:9 - Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality,
  • 1 Corinthians 6:10 - or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God.
