For if any kind of rule-keeping had power to create life in us, we would certainly have gotten it by this time.

Matthew 5:17 - “Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose.
Matthew 5:18 - I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God’s law will disappear until its purpose is achieved.
Matthew 5:19 - So if you ignore the least commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But anyone who obeys God’s laws and teaches them will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Matthew 5:20 - “But I warn you—unless your righteousness is better than the righteousness of the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven!
Romans 3:6 - Of course not! If God were not entirely fair, how would he be qualified to judge the world?
Galatians 2:17 - But suppose we seek to be made right with God through faith in Christ and then we are found guilty because we have abandoned the law. Would that mean Christ has led us into sin? Absolutely not!
Romans 3:4 - Of course not! Even if everyone else is a liar, God is true. As the Scriptures say about him, “You will be proved right in what you say, and you will win your case in court.”
Romans 3:31 - Well then, if we emphasize faith, does this mean that we can forget about the law? Of course not! In fact, only when we have faith do we truly fulfill the law.
Romans 7:7 - Well then, am I suggesting that the law of God is sinful? Of course not! In fact, it was the law that showed me my sin. I would never have known that coveting is wrong if the law had not said, “You must not covet.”
Romans 7:8 - But sin used this command to arouse all kinds of covetous desires within me! If there were no law, sin would not have that power.
Romans 7:9 - At one time I lived without understanding the law. But when I learned the command not to covet, for instance, the power of sin came to life,
Romans 7:10 - and I died. So I discovered that the law’s commands, which were supposed to bring life, brought spiritual death instead.
Romans 7:11 - Sin took advantage of those commands and deceived me; it used the commands to kill me.
Romans 7:12 - But still, the law itself is holy, and its commands are holy and right and good.
Romans 7:13 - But how can that be? Did the law, which is good, cause my death? Of course not! Sin used what was good to bring about my condemnation to death. So we can see how terrible sin really is. It uses God’s good commands for its own evil purposes.
Galatians 2:19 - For when I tried to keep the law, it condemned me. So I died to the law—I stopped trying to meet all its requirements—so that I might live for God.
Romans 10:3 - For they don’t understand God’s way of making people right with himself. Refusing to accept God’s way, they cling to their own way of getting right with God by trying to keep the law.
Romans 10:4 - For Christ has already accomplished the purpose for which the law was given. As a result, all who believe in him are made right with God.
Romans 10:5 - For Moses writes that the law’s way of making a person right with God requires obedience to all of its commands.
Romans 10:6 - But faith’s way of getting right with God says, “Don’t say in your heart, ‘Who will go up to heaven?’ (to bring Christ down to earth).
Romans 9:31 - But the people of Israel, who tried so hard to get right with God by keeping the law, never succeeded.
Romans 3:20 - For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are.
Romans 3:21 - But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago.
Romans 3:22 - We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.
Galatians 2:21 - I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die.
