  • Isaiah 20:2 - at that time the Lord spoke through Isaiah son of Amoz. He said to him, “Take off the sackcloth from your body and the sandals from your feet.” And he did so, going around stripped and barefoot.
  • Isaiah 20:3 - Then the Lord said, “Just as my servant Isaiah has gone stripped and barefoot for three years, as a sign and portent against Egypt and Cush,
  • Isaiah 20:4 - so the king of Assyria will lead away stripped and barefoot the Egyptian captives and Cushite exiles, young and old, with buttocks bared—to Egypt’s shame.
  • Isaiah 20:5 - Those who trusted in Cush and boasted in Egypt will be dismayed and put to shame.
  • Isaiah 20:6 - In that day the people who live on this coast will say, ‘See what has happened to those we relied on, those we fled to for help and deliverance from the king of Assyria! How then can we escape?’ ”
  • Ezekiel 30:1 - The word of the Lord came to me:
  • Ezekiel 30:2 - “Son of man, prophesy and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: “ ‘Wail and say, “Alas for that day!”
  • Ezekiel 30:3 - For the day is near, the day of the Lord is near— a day of clouds, a time of doom for the nations.
  • Ezekiel 30:4 - A sword will come against Egypt, and anguish will come upon Cush. When the slain fall in Egypt, her wealth will be carried away and her foundations torn down.
  • Ezekiel 30:5 - Cush and Libya, Lydia and all Arabia, Kub and the people of the covenant land will fall by the sword along with Egypt.
  • Ezekiel 30:6 - “ ‘This is what the Lord says: “ ‘The allies of Egypt will fall and her proud strength will fail. From Migdol to Aswan they will fall by the sword within her, declares the Sovereign Lord.
  • Ezekiel 30:7 - “ ‘They will be desolate among desolate lands, and their cities will lie among ruined cities.
  • Ezekiel 30:8 - Then they will know that I am the Lord, when I set fire to Egypt and all her helpers are crushed.
  • Ezekiel 30:9 - “ ‘On that day messengers will go out from me in ships to frighten Cush out of her complacency. Anguish will take hold of them on the day of Egypt’s doom, for it is sure to come.
  • Ezekiel 30:10 - “ ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: “ ‘I will put an end to the hordes of Egypt by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.
  • Ezekiel 30:11 - He and his army—the most ruthless of nations— will be brought in to destroy the land. They will draw their swords against Egypt and fill the land with the slain.
  • Ezekiel 30:12 - I will dry up the waters of the Nile and sell the land to an evil nation; by the hand of foreigners I will lay waste the land and everything in it. I the Lord have spoken.
  • Ezekiel 30:13 - “ ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: “ ‘I will destroy the idols and put an end to the images in Memphis. No longer will there be a prince in Egypt, and I will spread fear throughout the land.
  • Ezekiel 30:14 - I will lay waste Upper Egypt, set fire to Zoan and inflict punishment on Thebes.
  • Ezekiel 30:15 - I will pour out my wrath on Pelusium, the stronghold of Egypt, and wipe out the hordes of Thebes.
  • Ezekiel 30:16 - I will set fire to Egypt; Pelusium will writhe in agony. Thebes will be taken by storm; Memphis will be in constant distress.
  • Ezekiel 30:17 - The young men of Heliopolis and Bubastis will fall by the sword, and the cities themselves will go into captivity.
  • Ezekiel 30:18 - Dark will be the day at Tahpanhes when I break the yoke of Egypt; there her proud strength will come to an end. She will be covered with clouds, and her villages will go into captivity.
  • Ezekiel 30:19 - So I will inflict punishment on Egypt, and they will know that I am the Lord.’ ”
  • Ezekiel 30:20 - In the eleventh year, in the first month on the seventh day, the word of the Lord came to me:
  • Ezekiel 30:21 - “Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt. It has not been bound up to be healed or put in a splint so that it may become strong enough to hold a sword.
  • Ezekiel 30:22 - Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt. I will break both his arms, the good arm as well as the broken one, and make the sword fall from his hand.
  • Ezekiel 30:23 - I will disperse the Egyptians among the nations and scatter them through the countries.
  • Ezekiel 30:24 - I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon and put my sword in his hand, but I will break the arms of Pharaoh, and he will groan before him like a mortally wounded man.
  • Ezekiel 30:25 - I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, but the arms of Pharaoh will fall limp. Then they will know that I am the Lord, when I put my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon and he brandishes it against Egypt.
  • Ezekiel 30:26 - I will disperse the Egyptians among the nations and scatter them through the countries. Then they will know that I am the Lord.”
  • Ezekiel 21:2 - “Son of man, set your face against Jerusalem and preach against the sanctuary. Prophesy against the land of Israel
  • Jeremiah 9:25 - “The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will punish all who are circumcised only in the flesh—
  • Jeremiah 9:26 - Egypt, Judah, Edom, Ammon, Moab and all who live in the wilderness in distant places. For all these nations are really uncircumcised, and even the whole house of Israel is uncircumcised in heart.”
  • Joel 3:19 - But Egypt will be desolate, Edom a desert waste, because of violence done to the people of Judah, in whose land they shed innocent blood.
  • Ezekiel 20:46 - “Son of man, set your face toward the south; preach against the south and prophesy against the forest of the southland.
  • Zechariah 14:18 - If the Egyptian people do not go up and take part, they will have no rain. The Lord will bring on them the plague he inflicts on the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles.
  • Zechariah 14:19 - This will be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles.
  • Ezekiel 28:21 - “Son of man, set your face against Sidon; prophesy against her
  • Ezekiel 28:22 - and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: “ ‘I am against you, Sidon, and among you I will display my glory. You will know that I am the Lord, when I inflict punishment on you and within you am proved to be holy.
  • Isaiah 18:1 - Woe to the land of whirring wings along the rivers of Cush,
  • Isaiah 18:2 - which sends envoys by sea in papyrus boats over the water. Go, swift messengers, to a people tall and smooth-skinned, to a people feared far and wide, an aggressive nation of strange speech, whose land is divided by rivers.
  • Isaiah 18:3 - All you people of the world, you who live on the earth, when a banner is raised on the mountains, you will see it, and when a trumpet sounds, you will hear it.
  • Isaiah 18:4 - This is what the Lord says to me: “I will remain quiet and will look on from my dwelling place, like shimmering heat in the sunshine, like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.”
  • Isaiah 18:5 - For, before the harvest, when the blossom is gone and the flower becomes a ripening grape, he will cut off the shoots with pruning knives, and cut down and take away the spreading branches.
  • Isaiah 18:6 - They will all be left to the mountain birds of prey and to the wild animals; the birds will feed on them all summer, the wild animals all winter.
  • Isaiah 18:7 - At that time gifts will be brought to the Lord Almighty from a people tall and smooth-skinned, from a people feared far and wide, an aggressive nation of strange speech, whose land is divided by rivers— the gifts will be brought to Mount Zion, the place of the Name of the Lord Almighty.
  • Jeremiah 46:2 - Concerning Egypt: This is the message against the army of Pharaoh Necho king of Egypt, which was defeated at Carchemish on the Euphrates River by Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah:
  • Jeremiah 46:3 - “Prepare your shields, both large and small, and march out for battle!
  • Jeremiah 46:4 - Harness the horses, mount the steeds! Take your positions with helmets on! Polish your spears, put on your armor!
  • Jeremiah 46:5 - What do I see? They are terrified, they are retreating, their warriors are defeated. They flee in haste without looking back, and there is terror on every side,” declares the Lord.
  • Jeremiah 46:6 - “The swift cannot flee nor the strong escape. In the north by the River Euphrates they stumble and fall.
  • Jeremiah 46:7 - “Who is this that rises like the Nile, like rivers of surging waters?
  • Jeremiah 46:8 - Egypt rises like the Nile, like rivers of surging waters. She says, ‘I will rise and cover the earth; I will destroy cities and their people.’
  • Jeremiah 46:9 - Charge, you horses! Drive furiously, you charioteers! March on, you warriors—men of Cush and Put who carry shields, men of Lydia who draw the bow.
  • Jeremiah 46:10 - But that day belongs to the Lord, the Lord Almighty— a day of vengeance, for vengeance on his foes. The sword will devour till it is satisfied, till it has quenched its thirst with blood. For the Lord, the Lord Almighty, will offer sacrifice in the land of the north by the River Euphrates.
  • Jeremiah 46:11 - “Go up to Gilead and get balm, Virgin Daughter Egypt. But you try many medicines in vain; there is no healing for you.
  • Jeremiah 46:12 - The nations will hear of your shame; your cries will fill the earth. One warrior will stumble over another; both will fall down together.”
  • Jeremiah 46:13 - This is the message the Lord spoke to Jeremiah the prophet about the coming of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to attack Egypt:
  • Jeremiah 46:14 - “Announce this in Egypt, and proclaim it in Migdol; proclaim it also in Memphis and Tahpanhes: ‘Take your positions and get ready, for the sword devours those around you.’
  • Jeremiah 46:15 - Why will your warriors be laid low? They cannot stand, for the Lord will push them down.
  • Jeremiah 46:16 - They will stumble repeatedly; they will fall over each other. They will say, ‘Get up, let us go back to our own people and our native lands, away from the sword of the oppressor.’
  • Jeremiah 44:30 - This is what the Lord says: ‘I am going to deliver Pharaoh Hophra king of Egypt into the hands of his enemies who want to kill him, just as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hands of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, the enemy who wanted to kill him.’ ”
  • Ezekiel 6:2 - “Son of man, set your face against the mountains of Israel; prophesy against them
