Ecclesiastes 12:13 - Everything has now been heard. And here’s the final thing I want to say. Have respect for God and obey his commandments. This is what he expects of all human beings.
Malachi 1:6 - “A son honors his father. A slave honors his master. If I am a father, where is the honor I should have? If I am a master, where is the respect you should give me?” says the Lord who rules over all. “You priests look down on me. “But you ask, ‘How have we looked down on you?’
Nehemiah 5:15 - But there had been governors before me. They had put a heavy load on the people. They had taken a pound of silver from each of them. They had also taken food and wine from them. Their officials had acted like high and mighty rulers over them. But because of my great respect for God, I didn’t act like that.
Psalm 123:2 - Slaves depend on their masters. A female slave depends on the woman she works for. In the same way, we depend on the Lord our God. We wait for him to have mercy on us.
Nehemiah 5:9 - So I continued, “What you are doing isn’t right. Shouldn’t you show respect for our God? Shouldn’t you live in a way that will keep our enemies from saying bad things about us?
Matthew 8:9 - I myself am a man under authority. And I have soldiers who obey my orders. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes. I tell that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my slave, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
Philemon 1:16 - You could have him back not as a slave. Instead, he would be better than a slave. He would be a dear brother. He is very dear to me but even more dear to you. He is dear to you not only as another human being. He is also dear to you as a brother in the Lord.
Titus 2:9 - Teach slaves to obey their masters in everything they do. Tell them to try to please their masters. They must not talk back to them.
Titus 2:10 - They must not steal from them. Instead, they must show that they can be trusted completely. Then they will make the teaching about God our Savior appealing in every way.
Galatians 1:10 - Am I now trying to get people to think well of me? Or do I want God to think well of me? Am I trying to please people? If I were, I would not be serving Christ.
Ecclesiastes 5:7 - Dreaming too much and talking too much are meaningless. So have respect for God.
1 Thessalonians 2:4 - In fact, it is just the opposite. God has approved us to preach. He has trusted us with the good news. We aren’t trying to please people. We want to please God. He tests our hearts.
Luke 6:46 - “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and still don’t do what I say?
Colossians 3:20 - Children, obey your parents in everything. That pleases the Lord.
Ephesians 6:5 - Slaves, obey your masters here on earth. Respect them and honor them with a heart that is true. Obey them just as you would obey Christ.
Ephesians 6:6 - Don’t obey them only to please them when they are watching. Do it because you are slaves of Christ. Be sure your heart does what God wants.
Ephesians 6:7 - Serve your masters with all your heart. Work as serving the Lord and not as serving people.
1 Peter 2:18 - Slaves, obey your masters out of deep respect for God. Obey not only those who are good and kind. Obey also those who are not kind.
1 Peter 2:19 - Suppose a person suffers pain unfairly because they want to obey God. This is worthy of praise.
1 Timothy 6:1 - All who are forced to serve as slaves should consider their masters worthy of full respect. Then people will not speak evil things against God’s name and against what we teach.
1 Timothy 6:2 - Some slaves have masters who are believers. They shouldn’t show their masters disrespect just because they are also believers. Instead, they should serve them even better. That’s because their masters are loved by them as believers. These masters are committed to caring for their slaves. These are the things you are to teach. Try hard to get the believers to do them.
