- Ezekiel 16:17 - You also took the fine jewelry I gave you, the jewelry made of my gold and silver, and you made for yourself male idols and engaged in prostitution with them.
- Ezekiel 16:18 - And you took your embroidered clothes to put on them, and you offered my oil and incense before them.
- Ezekiel 16:19 - Also the food I provided for you—the flour, olive oil and honey I gave you to eat—you offered as fragrant incense before them. That is what happened, declares the Sovereign Lord.

- Ezekiel 16:37 - therefore I am going to gather all your lovers, with whom you found pleasure, those you loved as well as those you hated. I will gather them against you from all around and will strip you in front of them, and they will see you stark naked.
- Ezekiel 16:38 - I will sentence you to the punishment of women who commit adultery and who shed blood; I will bring on you the blood vengeance of my wrath and jealous anger.

- Ezekiel 16:55 - And your sisters, Sodom with her daughters and Samaria with her daughters, will return to what they were before; and you and your daughters will return to what you were before.
- Ezekiel 16:56 - You would not even mention your sister Sodom in the day of your pride,
- Ezekiel 16:57 - before your wickedness was uncovered. Even so, you are now scorned by the daughters of Edom and all her neighbors and the daughters of the Philistines—all those around you who despise you.
- Ezekiel 16:58 - You will bear the consequences of your lewdness and your detestable practices, declares the Lord.
- Ezekiel 16:59 - “ ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will deal with you as you deserve, because you have despised my oath by breaking the covenant.
- Ezekiel 16:60 - Yet I will remember the covenant I made with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish an everlasting covenant with you.
- Ezekiel 16:61 - Then you will remember your ways and be ashamed when you receive your sisters, both those who are older than you and those who are younger. I will give them to you as daughters, but not on the basis of my covenant with you.
- Ezekiel 16:62 - So I will establish my covenant with you, and you will know that I am the Lord.
- Ezekiel 16:63 - Then, when I make atonement for you for all you have done, you will remember and be ashamed and never again open your mouth because of your humiliation, declares the Sovereign Lord.’ ”
- 2 Samuel 12:9 - Why did you despise the word of the Lord by doing what is evil in his eyes? You struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and took his wife to be your own. You killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.
- 2 Samuel 12:10 - Now, therefore, the sword will never depart from your house, because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own.’
- Nehemiah 9:26 - “But they were disobedient and rebelled against you; they turned their backs on your law. They killed your prophets, who had warned them in order to turn them back to you; they committed awful blasphemies.
- Jeremiah 28:15 - Then the prophet Jeremiah said to Hananiah the prophet, “Listen, Hananiah! The Lord has not sent you, yet you have persuaded this nation to trust in lies.
- Jeremiah 28:16 - Therefore this is what the Lord says: ‘I am about to remove you from the face of the earth. This very year you are going to die, because you have preached rebellion against the Lord.’ ”
- Daniel 9:5 - we have sinned and done wrong. We have been wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and laws.
- Daniel 9:6 - We have not listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our princes and our ancestors, and to all the people of the land.
- Daniel 9:7 - “Lord, you are righteous, but this day we are covered with shame—the people of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel, both near and far, in all the countries where you have scattered us because of our unfaithfulness to you.
- Daniel 9:8 - We and our kings, our princes and our ancestors are covered with shame, Lord, because we have sinned against you.
- Daniel 9:9 - The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him;
- Daniel 9:10 - we have not obeyed the Lord our God or kept the laws he gave us through his servants the prophets.
- Daniel 9:11 - All Israel has transgressed your law and turned away, refusing to obey you. “Therefore the curses and sworn judgments written in the Law of Moses, the servant of God, have been poured out on us, because we have sinned against you.
- Daniel 9:12 - You have fulfilled the words spoken against us and against our rulers by bringing on us great disaster. Under the whole heaven nothing has ever been done like what has been done to Jerusalem.
- Ezekiel 22:8 - You have despised my holy things and desecrated my Sabbaths.
- Deuteronomy 32:15 - Jeshurun grew fat and kicked; filled with food, they became heavy and sleek. They abandoned the God who made them and rejected the Rock their Savior.
- Deuteronomy 32:16 - They made him jealous with their foreign gods and angered him with their detestable idols.
- Deuteronomy 32:17 - They sacrificed to false gods, which are not God— gods they had not known, gods that recently appeared, gods your ancestors did not fear.
- Deuteronomy 32:18 - You deserted the Rock, who fathered you; you forgot the God who gave you birth.
- Deuteronomy 32:19 - The Lord saw this and rejected them because he was angered by his sons and daughters.
- Deuteronomy 32:20 - “I will hide my face from them,” he said, “and see what their end will be; for they are a perverse generation, children who are unfaithful.
- Deuteronomy 32:21 - They made me jealous by what is no god and angered me with their worthless idols. I will make them envious by those who are not a people; I will make them angry by a nation that has no understanding.
- Deuteronomy 32:22 - For a fire will be kindled by my wrath, one that burns down to the realm of the dead below. It will devour the earth and its harvests and set afire the foundations of the mountains.
- Deuteronomy 32:23 - “I will heap calamities on them and spend my arrows against them.
- Deuteronomy 32:24 - I will send wasting famine against them, consuming pestilence and deadly plague; I will send against them the fangs of wild beasts, the venom of vipers that glide in the dust.
- Deuteronomy 32:25 - In the street the sword will make them childless; in their homes terror will reign. The young men and young women will perish, the infants and those with gray hair.
- Deuteronomy 32:26 - I said I would scatter them and erase their name from human memory,
- Deuteronomy 32:27 - but I dreaded the taunt of the enemy, lest the adversary misunderstand and say, ‘Our hand has triumphed; the Lord has not done all this.’ ”
- Hosea 5:12 - I am like a moth to Ephraim, like rot to the people of Judah.
- Hosea 5:13 - “When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah his sores, then Ephraim turned to Assyria, and sent to the great king for help. But he is not able to cure you, not able to heal your sores.
- Jeremiah 9:25 - “The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will punish all who are circumcised only in the flesh—
- Jeremiah 9:26 - Egypt, Judah, Edom, Ammon, Moab and all who live in the wilderness in distant places. For all these nations are really uncircumcised, and even the whole house of Israel is uncircumcised in heart.”
- Jeremiah 16:12 - But you have behaved more wickedly than your ancestors. See how all of you are following the stubbornness of your evil hearts instead of obeying me.
- 2 Chronicles 30:7 - Do not be like your parents and your fellow Israelites, who were unfaithful to the Lord, the God of their ancestors, so that he made them an object of horror, as you see.
- Jeremiah 23:13 - “Among the prophets of Samaria I saw this repulsive thing: They prophesied by Baal and led my people Israel astray.
- Jeremiah 23:14 - And among the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen something horrible: They commit adultery and live a lie. They strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that not one of them turns from their wickedness. They are all like Sodom to me; the people of Jerusalem are like Gomorrah.”
- Jeremiah 23:15 - Therefore this is what the Lord Almighty says concerning the prophets: “I will make them eat bitter food and drink poisoned water, because from the prophets of Jerusalem ungodliness has spread throughout the land.”
- Isaiah 44:20 - Such a person feeds on ashes; a deluded heart misleads him; he cannot save himself, or say, “Is not this thing in my right hand a lie?”
- Jeremiah 6:19 - Hear, you earth: I am bringing disaster on this people, the fruit of their schemes, because they have not listened to my words and have rejected my law.
- Hosea 6:11 - “Also for you, Judah, a harvest is appointed. “Whenever I would restore the fortunes of my people,

- Ezekiel 23:14 - “But she carried her prostitution still further. She saw men portrayed on a wall, figures of Chaldeans portrayed in red,
- Ezekiel 23:15 - with belts around their waists and flowing turbans on their heads; all of them looked like Babylonian chariot officers, natives of Chaldea.
- Ezekiel 23:16 - As soon as she saw them, she lusted after them and sent messengers to them in Chaldea.
- Ezekiel 23:17 - Then the Babylonians came to her, to the bed of love, and in their lust they defiled her. After she had been defiled by them, she turned away from them in disgust.
- Ezekiel 23:18 - When she carried on her prostitution openly and exposed her naked body, I turned away from her in disgust, just as I had turned away from her sister.
- Ezekiel 23:19 - Yet she became more and more promiscuous as she recalled the days of her youth, when she was a prostitute in Egypt.
- Ezekiel 23:20 - There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.
- Ezekiel 23:21 - So you longed for the lewdness of your youth, when in Egypt your bosom was caressed and your young breasts fondled.
- 1 Peter 1:18 - For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors,
- Ezekiel 13:6 - Their visions are false and their divinations a lie. Even though the Lord has not sent them, they say, “The Lord declares,” and expect him to fulfill their words.
- Ezekiel 13:7 - Have you not seen false visions and uttered lying divinations when you say, “The Lord declares,” though I have not spoken?
- Ezekiel 13:8 - “ ‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Because of your false words and lying visions, I am against you, declares the Sovereign Lord.
- Ezekiel 13:9 - My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations. They will not belong to the council of my people or be listed in the records of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign Lord.
- Ezekiel 13:10 - “ ‘Because they lead my people astray, saying, “Peace,” when there is no peace, and because, when a flimsy wall is built, they cover it with whitewash,
- Ezekiel 13:11 - therefore tell those who cover it with whitewash that it is going to fall. Rain will come in torrents, and I will send hailstones hurtling down, and violent winds will burst forth.
- Ezekiel 13:12 - When the wall collapses, will people not ask you, “Where is the whitewash you covered it with?”
- Ezekiel 13:13 - “ ‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: In my wrath I will unleash a violent wind, and in my anger hailstones and torrents of rain will fall with destructive fury.
- Ezekiel 13:14 - I will tear down the wall you have covered with whitewash and will level it to the ground so that its foundation will be laid bare. When it falls, you will be destroyed in it; and you will know that I am the Lord.
- Ezekiel 13:15 - So I will pour out my wrath against the wall and against those who covered it with whitewash. I will say to you, “The wall is gone and so are those who whitewashed it,
- Ezekiel 13:16 - those prophets of Israel who prophesied to Jerusalem and saw visions of peace for her when there was no peace, declares the Sovereign Lord.” ’
- Ezekiel 20:30 - “Therefore say to the Israelites: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Will you defile yourselves the way your ancestors did and lust after their vile images?
- Judges 10:6 - Again the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord. They served the Baals and the Ashtoreths, and the gods of Aram, the gods of Sidon, the gods of Moab, the gods of the Ammonites and the gods of the Philistines. And because the Israelites forsook the Lord and no longer served him,
- Ezekiel 13:22 - Because you disheartened the righteous with your lies, when I had brought them no grief, and because you encouraged the wicked not to turn from their evil ways and so save their lives,
- Romans 1:25 - They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
- 2 Kings 22:11 - When the king heard the words of the Book of the Law, he tore his robes.
- 2 Kings 22:12 - He gave these orders to Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam son of Shaphan, Akbor son of Micaiah, Shaphan the secretary and Asaiah the king’s attendant:
- 2 Kings 22:13 - “Go and inquire of the Lord for me and for the people and for all Judah about what is written in this book that has been found. Great is the Lord’s anger that burns against us because those who have gone before us have not obeyed the words of this book; they have not acted in accordance with all that is written there concerning us.”
- 2 Kings 22:14 - Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam, Akbor, Shaphan and Asaiah went to speak to the prophet Huldah, who was the wife of Shallum son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe. She lived in Jerusalem, in the New Quarter.
- 2 Kings 22:15 - She said to them, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Tell the man who sent you to me,
- 2 Kings 22:16 - ‘This is what the Lord says: I am going to bring disaster on this place and its people, according to everything written in the book the king of Judah has read.
- 2 Kings 22:17 - Because they have forsaken me and burned incense to other gods and aroused my anger by all the idols their hands have made, my anger will burn against this place and will not be quenched.’
- Jeremiah 16:19 - Lord, my strength and my fortress, my refuge in time of distress, to you the nations will come from the ends of the earth and say, “Our ancestors possessed nothing but false gods, worthless idols that did them no good.
- Jeremiah 16:20 - Do people make their own gods? Yes, but they are not gods!”
- Jeremiah 8:9 - The wise will be put to shame; they will be dismayed and trapped. Since they have rejected the word of the Lord, what kind of wisdom do they have?
- Jeremiah 9:14 - Instead, they have followed the stubbornness of their hearts; they have followed the Baals, as their ancestors taught them.”
- Habakkuk 2:18 - “Of what value is an idol carved by a craftsman? Or an image that teaches lies? For the one who makes it trusts in his own creation; he makes idols that cannot speak.
- Amos 3:2 - “You only have I chosen of all the families of the earth; therefore I will punish you for all your sins.”
- Nehemiah 1:7 - We have acted very wickedly toward you. We have not obeyed the commands, decrees and laws you gave your servant Moses.
- Ezekiel 20:18 - I said to their children in the wilderness, “Do not follow the statutes of your parents or keep their laws or defile yourselves with their idols.
- Isaiah 9:15 - the elders and dignitaries are the head, the prophets who teach lies are the tail.
- Isaiah 9:16 - Those who guide this people mislead them, and those who are guided are led astray.
- Isaiah 5:24 - Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel.
- Isaiah 5:25 - Therefore the Lord’s anger burns against his people; his hand is raised and he strikes them down. The mountains shake, and the dead bodies are like refuse in the streets. Yet for all this, his anger is not turned away, his hand is still upraised.
- 2 Kings 17:19 - and even Judah did not keep the commands of the Lord their God. They followed the practices Israel had introduced.
- Leviticus 26:14 - “ ‘But if you will not listen to me and carry out all these commands,
- Leviticus 26:15 - and if you reject my decrees and abhor my laws and fail to carry out all my commands and so violate my covenant,
- Isaiah 28:15 - You boast, “We have entered into a covenant with death, with the realm of the dead we have made an agreement. When an overwhelming scourge sweeps by, it cannot touch us, for we have made a lie our refuge and falsehood our hiding place.”
- Hosea 12:2 - The Lord has a charge to bring against Judah; he will punish Jacob according to his ways and repay him according to his deeds.
- Ezekiel 20:13 - “ ‘Yet the people of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. They did not follow my decrees but rejected my laws—by which the person who obeys them will live—and they utterly desecrated my Sabbaths. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and destroy them in the wilderness.
- Ezekiel 20:16 - because they rejected my laws and did not follow my decrees and desecrated my Sabbaths. For their hearts were devoted to their idols.
- Ezekiel 20:24 - because they had not obeyed my laws but had rejected my decrees and desecrated my Sabbaths, and their eyes lusted after their parents’ idols.
