  • Psalms 50:21 - These things you have done and I kept silent; You thought that I was just like you. Now I will reprimand and denounce you and state the case in order before your eyes.
  • 1 Peter 1:14 - [Live] as obedient children [of God]; do not be conformed to the evil desires which governed you in your ignorance [before you knew the requirements and transforming power of the good news regarding salvation].

  • Romans 3:23 - since all have sinned and continually fall short of the glory of God,
  • Ephesians 5:6 - Let no one deceive you with empty arguments [that encourage you to sin], for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience [those who habitually sin].
  • Ephesians 5:7 - So do not participate or even associate with them [in the rebelliousness of sin].
  • Ephesians 5:8 - For once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of Light [live as those who are native-born to the Light]
  • Mark 6:12 - So they went out and preached that men should repent [that is, think differently, recognize sin, turn away from it, and live changed lives].
  • Romans 2:4 - Or do you have no regard for the wealth of His kindness and tolerance and patience [in withholding His wrath]? Are you [actually] unaware or ignorant [of the fact] that God’s kindness leads you to repentance [that is, to change your inner self, your old way of thinking—seek His purpose for your life]?
  • Acts 11:18 - When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified and praised God, saying, “Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance that leads to eternal life [that is, real life after earthly death].”
  • 1 Peter 4:3 - For the time already past is [more than] enough for doing what the [unsaved] Gentiles like to do— living [unrestrained as you have done] in a course of [shameless] sensuality, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties, and wanton idolatries.
  • Ephesians 4:17 - So this I say, and solemnly affirm together with the Lord [as in His presence], that you must no longer live as the [unbelieving] Gentiles live, in the futility of their minds [and in the foolishness and emptiness of their souls],
  • Ephesians 4:18 - for their [moral] understanding is darkened and their reasoning is clouded; [they are] alienated and self-banished from the life of God [with no share in it; this is] because of the [willful] ignorance and spiritual blindness that is [deep-seated] within them, because of the hardness and insensitivity of their heart.
  • Ephesians 4:19 - And they, [the ungodly in their spiritual apathy], having become callous and unfeeling, have given themselves over [as prey] to unbridled sensuality, eagerly craving the practice of every kind of impurity [that their desires may demand].
  • Ephesians 4:20 - But you did not learn Christ in this way!
  • Ephesians 4:21 - If in fact you have [really] heard Him and have been taught by Him, just as truth is in Jesus [revealed in His life and personified in Him],
  • Ephesians 4:22 - that, regarding your previous way of life, you put off your old self [completely discard your former nature], which is being corrupted through deceitful desires,
  • Ephesians 4:23 - and be continually renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh, untarnished mental and spiritual attitude],
  • Ephesians 4:24 - and put on the new self [the regenerated and renewed nature], created in God’s image, [godlike] in the righteousness and holiness of the truth [living in a way that expresses to God your gratitude for your salvation].
  • Ephesians 4:25 - Therefore, rejecting all falsehood [whether lying, defrauding, telling half-truths, spreading rumors, any such as these], speak truth each one with his neighbor, for we are all parts of one another [and we are all parts of the body of Christ].
  • Ephesians 4:26 - Be angry [at sin—at immorality, at injustice, at ungodly behavior], yet do not sin; do not let your anger [cause you shame, nor allow it to] last until the sun goes down.
  • Ephesians 4:27 - And do not give the devil an opportunity [to lead you into sin by holding a grudge, or nurturing anger, or harboring resentment, or cultivating bitterness].
  • Ephesians 4:28 - The thief [who has become a believer] must no longer steal, but instead he must work hard [making an honest living], producing that which is good with his own hands, so that he will have something to share with those in need.
  • Ephesians 4:29 - Do not let unwholesome [foul, profane, worthless, vulgar] words ever come out of your mouth, but only such speech as is good for building up others, according to the need and the occasion, so that it will be a blessing to those who hear [you speak].
  • Ephesians 4:30 - And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God [but seek to please Him], by whom you were sealed and marked [branded as God’s own] for the day of redemption [the final deliverance from the consequences of sin].
  • Ephesians 4:31 - Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor [perpetual animosity, resentment, strife, fault-finding] and slander be put away from you, along with every kind of malice [all spitefulness, verbal abuse, malevolence].
  • Ephesians 4:32 - Be kind and helpful to one another, tender-hearted [compassionate, understanding], forgiving one another [readily and freely], just as God in Christ also forgave you.
  • Acts 26:17 - [choosing you for Myself and] rescuing you from the Jewish people and from the Gentiles, to whom I am sending you,
  • Acts 26:18 - to open their [spiritual] eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness and release from their sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified (set apart, made holy) by faith in Me.’
  • Acts 26:19 - “So, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision,
  • Acts 26:20 - but I openly proclaimed first to those at Damascus, then at Jerusalem and throughout the region of Judea, and even to the Gentiles, that they should repent [change their inner self—their old way of thinking] and turn to God, doing deeds and living lives which are consistent with repentance.
  • Romans 3:25 - whom God displayed publicly [before the eyes of the world] as a [life-giving] sacrifice of atonement and reconciliation (propitiation) by His blood [to be received] through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness [which demands punishment for sin], because in His forbearance [His deliberate restraint] He passed over the sins previously committed [before Jesus’ crucifixion].
  • Titus 2:11 - For the [remarkable, undeserved] grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.
  • Titus 2:12 - It teaches us to reject ungodliness and worldly (immoral) desires, and to live sensible, upright, and godly lives [with a purpose that reflect spiritual maturity] in this present age,
  • Luke 24:47 - and that repentance [necessary] for forgiveness of sins would be preached in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.
  • Acts 14:16 - In generations past He permitted all the nations to go their own ways;
