  • 1 Chronicles 29:1 - Then King David spoke to the whole community. He said, “God has chosen my son Solomon. But Solomon is young. He’s never done anything like this before. The task is huge. This grand and wonderful temple won’t be built for human beings. It will be built for the Lord God.

  • 2 Timothy 2:2 - You have heard me teach in front of many witnesses. Pass on to people you can trust the things you’ve heard me say. Then they will be able to teach others also.
  • Hebrews 11:4 - Abel had faith. So he brought to God a better offering than Cain did. Because of his faith Abel was praised as a godly man. God said good things about his offerings. Because of his faith Abel still speaks. He speaks even though he is dead.
  • 2 Peter 1:4 - He has also given us his very great and valuable promises. He did it so you could share in his nature. You can share in it because you’ve escaped from the evil in the world. This evil is caused by sinful desires.
  • 2 Peter 1:5 - So you should try very hard to add goodness to your faith. To goodness, add knowledge.
  • 2 Peter 1:6 - To knowledge, add the ability to control yourselves. To the ability to control yourselves, add the strength to keep going. To the strength to keep going, add godliness.
  • 2 Peter 1:7 - To godliness, add kindness for one another. And to kindness for one another, add love.
  • Joshua 24:24 - Then the people said to Joshua, “We will serve the Lord our God. We will obey him.”
  • Joshua 24:25 - On that day Joshua made a covenant for the people. There at Shechem he reminded them of its rules and laws.
  • Joshua 24:26 - He recorded these things in the Book of the Law of God. Then he got a large stone. He set it up in Shechem under the oak tree. It was near the place that had been set apart for the Lord.
  • Joshua 24:27 - “Look!” he said to all the people. “This stone will be a witness against us. It has heard all the words the Lord has spoken to us. Suppose you aren’t faithful to your God. Then the stone will be a witness against you.”
  • Joshua 24:28 - Joshua sent the people away. He sent all of them to their own shares of land.
  • Joshua 24:29 - Then Joshua, the servant of the Lord, died. He was the son of Nun. He was 110 years old when he died.
  • 2 Peter 1:12 - So I will always remind you of these things. I’ll do it even though you know them. I’ll do it even though you now have deep roots in the truth.
  • Psalm 71:18 - God, don’t leave me even when I’m old and have gray hair. Let me live to tell my children about your power. Let me tell all of them about your mighty acts.
  • Deuteronomy 31:19 - “I want you to write down a song and teach it to the Israelites. Have them sing it. It will be my witness against them.
  • Deuteronomy 31:20 - I will bring them into a land that has plenty of milk and honey. I promised the land to their people of long ago. In that land they will eat until they have had enough. They will get fat. When they do, they will turn to other gods and worship them. They will turn their backs on me. They will break my covenant.
  • Deuteronomy 31:21 - Many horrible troubles and hard times will come on them. Then the song I am giving you will be a witness against them. That is because the song will not be forgotten by their children and their children’s children. I know what they are likely to do. I know it even before I bring them into the land I promised them.”
  • Deuteronomy 31:22 - So that day Moses wrote the song down. And Moses taught it to the Israelites.
  • Deuteronomy 31:23 - The Lord gave a command to Joshua, the son of Nun. He said, “Be strong and brave. You will bring the Israelites into the land I promised them. I myself will be with you.”
  • Deuteronomy 31:24 - Moses finished writing the words of this law in a book. He wrote them down from beginning to end.
  • Deuteronomy 31:25 - Then he gave a command to the Levites who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord. Moses said,
  • Deuteronomy 31:26 - “Take this Book of the Law. Place it beside the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God. It will remain there as a witness against you.
  • Deuteronomy 31:27 - I know how you refuse to obey the Lord. I know how stubborn you are. You have refused to obey him while I’ve been living among you. So you will certainly refuse to obey him after I’m dead!
  • Deuteronomy 31:28 - Gather together all the elders of your tribes and all your officials. Bring them to me. Then I can speak these words to them. I can call for the heavens and the earth to be witnesses against them.
  • Deuteronomy 31:29 - I know that after I’m dead you will certainly become very sinful. You will turn away from the path I’ve commanded you to take. In days to come, trouble will fall on you. That’s because you will do what is evil in the sight of the Lord. You will make him very angry because of the statues of gods your hands have made.”
