신명기 5:9 - 그것에 절하거나 그것을 섬기지 말아라. 나 여호와 너희 하나님은 질투하는 하나님이다. 그래서 내가 나를 미워하는 자를 벌하고 그의 죄에 대하여 그 자손 삼사 대까지 저주를 내리겠다.
역대하 24:25 - 시리아군은 철수하면서 요아스에게 큰 부상을 입혔다. 그들이 떠난 후에 그의 신하 중 두 사람이 제사장 여호야다의 아들을 죽인 것에 대한 보복으로 왕을 죽일 음모를 꾸며 침대에 누워 있는 그를 쳐죽였다. 그는 다윗성에 장사되었으나 왕들의 묘에는 장사되지 않았다.
에스겔 18:19 - “그런데 너희는 아버지가 죄를 지었는데도 어째서 그 아들이 벌을 받지 않느냐고 묻고 있다. 그 아들은 공정하고 옳은 일을 행하며 나의 모든 법을 준수하였으므로 그는 분명히 살 것이다.
열왕기상 21:19 - 너는 그에게 나 여호와가 이렇게 말한다고 일러 주어라. ‘네가 나봇을 죽이고 그의 포도원까지 빼앗으려고 하느냐? 개들이 나봇의 피를 핥은 곳에서 네 피도 핥을 것이다.’ ”
역대하 25:4 - 그러나 아마샤가 그들의 자녀는 죽이지 않았는데 이것은 모세의 율법책에 기록된 대로 부모는 자녀의 죄 때문에 죽어서는 안 되며 자녀도 부모의 죄 때문에 죽는 일이 있어서는 안 되고 모든 사람들은 각자 자기 죄에 대해서만 그 대가를 치러야 한다는 여호와의 명령에 그가 순종하였기 때문이었다.
