  • Deuteronomy 29:13 - so that He may establish you today as His people and that He may be your God, just as He spoke to you and as He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
  • Deuteronomy 29:14 - “It is not with you alone that I am making this covenant and this oath,
  • Deuteronomy 29:15 - but with those [future Israelites] who are not here with us today, as well as with those who stand here with us today in the presence of the Lord our God
  • Nehemiah 10:28 - Now the rest of the people—the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the temple servants, and all those who had separated themselves from the peoples of the lands to the Law of God, their wives, their sons, their daughters, all those who had knowledge and understanding—
  • Nehemiah 10:29 - are joining with their fellow Israelites, their nobles, and are taking on themselves a curse and an oath to walk in God’s Law, which was given through Moses the servant of God, and to keep and to observe all the commandments of God our Lord, and His ordinances and statutes:
  • Romans 13:1 - Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God [granted by His permission and sanction], and those which exist have been put in place by God.
  • Romans 13:2 - Therefore whoever resists [governmental] authority resists the ordinance of God. And those who have resisted it will bring judgment (civil penalty) on themselves.
  • Romans 13:3 - For [civil] authorities are not a source of fear for [people of] good behavior, but for [those who do] evil. Do you want to be unafraid of authority? Do what is good and you will receive approval and commendation.
  • Romans 13:4 - For he is God’s servant to you for good. But if you do wrong, [you should] be afraid; for he does not carry the [executioner’s] sword for nothing. He is God’s servant, an avenger who brings punishment on the wrongdoer.
  • Romans 13:5 - Therefore one must be subject [to civil authorities], not only to escape the punishment [that comes with wrongdoing], but also as a matter of principle [knowing what is right before God].
  • Romans 13:6 - For this same reason you pay taxes, for civil authorities are God’s servants, devoting themselves to governance.
  • Nehemiah 9:38 - “ Now because of all this We are making an agreement in writing; And on the sealed document are the names of our princes, our Levites, and our priests.”
  • 1 Chronicles 11:3 - So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and David made a covenant (solemn agreement) with them there before the Lord; and they anointed him king over Israel, in accordance with the word of the Lord through Samuel.
  • 2 Chronicles 29:10 - Now it is in my heart to make a covenant (solemn agreement) with the Lord God of Israel, so that His burning anger will turn away from us.
  • 1 Samuel 10:25 - Then Samuel told the people the requirements of the kingdom, and wrote them in a book and placed it before the Lord. And Samuel sent all the people away, each one to his home.
  • 2 Chronicles 15:12 - They entered into a covenant (solemn agreement) to seek the Lord God of their fathers with all their heart and soul;
  • 2 Chronicles 15:13 - and that whoever would not seek the Lord God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether young or old, man or woman.
  • 2 Chronicles 15:14 - They swore an oath to the Lord with a loud voice, with [jubilant] shouting, with trumpets, and with horns.
  • Ezra 10:3 - Therefore let us now make a covenant with our God to send away all the [foreign] wives and their children, in accordance with the advice of my lord and of those who tremble [in reverent obedience] at the commandment of our God; and let it be done in accordance with the Law.
  • Joshua 24:25 - So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and made for them a statute and an ordinance at Shechem.
  • 2 Chronicles 34:31 - Then the king stood in his place and made a covenant before the Lord—to walk after (obey) the Lord, and to keep His commandments, His testimonies, and His statutes with all his heart and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant written in this book.
  • 2 Samuel 5:3 - So all the elders (tribal leaders) of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and King David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the Lord; and they anointed him king over Israel.
