2 Kings 25:5 - the Chaldean army pursued him and overtook him in the plains of Jericho. Zedekiah’s entire army left him and scattered.
2 Kings 25:6 - The Chaldeans seized the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah, and they passed sentence on him.
2 Kings 25:7 - They slaughtered Zedekiah’s sons before his eyes. Finally, the king of Babylon blinded Zedekiah, bound him in bronze chains, and took him to Babylon.
2 Kings 25:8 - On the seventh day of the fifth month — which was the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon — Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guards, a servant of the king of Babylon, entered Jerusalem.

2 Kings 25:17 - One pillar was twenty-seven feet tall and had a bronze capital on top of it. The capital, encircled by a grating and pomegranates of bronze, stood five feet high. The second pillar was the same, with its own grating.

Jeremiah 52:9 - The Chaldeans seized the king and brought him to the king of Babylon at Riblah in the land of Hamath, and he passed sentence on him.
Jeremiah 52:10 - At Riblah the king of Babylon slaughtered Zedekiah’s sons before his eyes, and he also slaughtered the Judean commanders.
Jeremiah 52:11 - Then he blinded Zedekiah and bound him with bronze chains. The king of Babylon brought Zedekiah to Babylon, where he kept him in custody until his dying day.
Jeremiah 52:12 - On the tenth day of the fifth month — which was the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon — Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guards, entered Jerusalem as the representative of the king of Babylon.
Jeremiah 52:13 - He burned the Lord’s temple, the king’s palace, all the houses of Jerusalem; he burned down all the great houses.
Jeremiah 52:14 - The whole Chaldean army with the captain of the guards tore down all the walls surrounding Jerusalem.
Jeremiah 52:15 - Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guards, deported some of the poorest of the people, as well as the rest of the people who remained in the city, the deserters who had defected to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the craftsmen.
Jeremiah 52:16 - But Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guards, left some of the poorest of the land to be vinedressers and farmers.
Jeremiah 52:17 - Now the Chaldeans broke into pieces the bronze pillars for the Lord’s temple and the water carts and the bronze basin that were in the Lord’s temple, and they carried all the bronze to Babylon.
Jeremiah 52:18 - They also took the pots, shovels, wick trimmers, sprinkling basins, dishes, and all the bronze articles used in the temple service.
Jeremiah 52:19 - The captain of the guards took away the bowls, firepans, sprinkling basins, pots, lampstands, pans, and drink offering bowls — whatever was gold or silver.
Jeremiah 52:20 - As for the two pillars, the one basin, with the twelve bronze oxen under it, and the water carts that King Solomon had made for the Lord’s temple, the weight of the bronze of all these articles was beyond measure.
Jeremiah 52:21 - One pillar was 27 feet tall, had a circumference of 18 feet, was hollow — four fingers thick —
Jeremiah 52:22 - and had a bronze capital on top of it. One capital, encircled by bronze grating and pomegranates, stood 7½ feet high. The second pillar was the same, with pomegranates.
Jeremiah 52:23 - Each capital had ninety-six pomegranates all around it. All the pomegranates around the grating numbered one hundred.
Jeremiah 52:24 - The captain of the guards also took away Seraiah the chief priest, Zephaniah the priest of the second rank, and the three doorkeepers.
Jeremiah 52:25 - From the city he took a court official who had been appointed over the warriors; seven trusted royal aides found in the city; the secretary of the commander of the army, who enlisted the people of the land for military duty; and sixty men from the common people who were found within the city.
Jeremiah 52:26 - Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guards, took them and brought them to the king of Babylon at Riblah.
Jeremiah 52:27 - The king of Babylon put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah went into exile from its land.
Jeremiah 52:28 - These are the people Nebuchadnezzar deported: in the seventh year, 3,023 Jews;
Jeremiah 52:29 - in his eighteenth year, 832 people from Jerusalem;
Jeremiah 52:30 - in Nebuchadnezzar’s twenty-third year, Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guards, deported 745 Jews. Altogether, 4,600 people were deported.
Jeremiah 52:31 - On the twenty-fifth day of the twelfth month of the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Judah’s King Jehoiachin, King Evil-merodach of Babylon, in the first year of his reign, pardoned King Jehoiachin of Judah and released him from prison.
Jeremiah 52:32 - He spoke kindly to him and set his throne above the thrones of the kings who were with him in Babylon.
Jeremiah 52:33 - So Jehoiachin changed his prison clothes, and he dined regularly in the presence of the king of Babylon for the rest of his life.
Jeremiah 52:34 - As for his allowance, a regular allowance was given to him by the king of Babylon, a portion for each day until the day of his death, for the rest of his life.
Jeremiah 18:21 - Therefore, hand their children over to famine, and give them over to the power of the sword. Let their wives become childless and widowed, their husbands slain by deadly disease, their young men struck down by the sword in battle.

Deuteronomy 28:26 - Your corpses will be food for all the birds of the sky and the wild animals of the earth, with no one to scare them away.
Deuteronomy 28:27 - “The Lord will afflict you with the boils of Egypt, tumors, a festering rash, and scabies, from which you cannot be cured.
Deuteronomy 28:28 - The Lord will afflict you with madness, blindness, and mental confusion,
Deuteronomy 28:29 - so that at noon you will grope as a blind person gropes in the dark. You will not be successful in anything you do. You will only be oppressed and robbed continually, and no one will help you.
Deuteronomy 28:30 - You will become engaged to a woman, but another man will rape her. You will build a house but not live in it. You will plant a vineyard but not enjoy its fruit.
Deuteronomy 28:31 - Your ox will be slaughtered before your eyes, but you will not eat any of it. Your donkey will be taken away from you and not returned to you. Your flock will be given to your enemies, and no one will help you.
Deuteronomy 28:32 - Your sons and daughters will be given to another people, while your eyes grow weary looking for them every day. But you will be powerless to do anything.
Deuteronomy 28:33 - A people you don’t know will eat your land’s produce and everything you have labored for. You will only be oppressed and crushed continually.
Deuteronomy 28:34 - You will be driven mad by what you see.
Deuteronomy 28:35 - The Lord will afflict you with painful and incurable boils on your knees and thighs — from the sole of your foot to the top of your head.
Deuteronomy 28:36 - “The Lord will bring you and your king that you have appointed to a nation neither you nor your ancestors have known, and there you will worship other gods, of wood and stone.
Deuteronomy 28:37 - You will become an object of horror, scorn, and ridicule among all the peoples where the Lord will drive you.
Deuteronomy 28:38 - “You will sow much seed in the field but harvest little, because locusts will devour it.
Deuteronomy 28:39 - You will plant and cultivate vineyards but not drink the wine or gather the grapes, because worms will eat them.
Deuteronomy 28:40 - You will have olive trees throughout your territory but not moisten your skin with oil, because your olives will drop off.
Deuteronomy 28:41 - You will father sons and daughters, but they will not remain yours, because they will be taken prisoner.
Deuteronomy 28:42 - Buzzing insects will take possession of all your trees and your land’s produce.
Deuteronomy 28:43 - The resident alien among you will rise higher and higher above you, while you sink lower and lower.
Deuteronomy 28:44 - He will lend to you, but you won’t lend to him. He will be the head, and you will be the tail.
Deuteronomy 28:45 - “All these curses will come, pursue, and overtake you until you are destroyed, since you did not obey the Lord your God and keep the commands and statutes he gave you.
Deuteronomy 28:46 - These curses will be a sign and a wonder against you and your descendants forever.
Deuteronomy 28:47 - Because you didn’t serve the Lord your God with joy and a cheerful heart, even though you had an abundance of everything,
Deuteronomy 28:48 - you will serve your enemies that the Lord will send against you, in famine, thirst, nakedness, and a lack of everything. He will place an iron yoke on your neck until he has destroyed you.
Deuteronomy 28:49 - The Lord will bring a nation from far away, from the ends of the earth, to swoop down on you like an eagle, a nation whose language you won’t understand,
Deuteronomy 28:50 - a ruthless nation, showing no respect for the old and not sparing the young.
Deuteronomy 28:51 - They will eat the offspring of your livestock and your land’s produce until you are destroyed. They will leave you no grain, new wine, fresh oil, young of your herds, or newborn of your flocks until they cause you to perish.
Deuteronomy 28:52 - They will besiege you within all your city gates until your high and fortified walls, that you trust in, come down throughout your land. They will besiege you within all your city gates throughout the land the Lord your God has given you.
Deuteronomy 28:53 - “You will eat your offspring, the flesh of your sons and daughters the Lord your God has given you during the siege and hardship your enemy imposes on you.
Deuteronomy 28:54 - The most sensitive and refined man among you will look grudgingly at his brother, the wife he embraces, and the rest of his children,
Deuteronomy 28:55 - refusing to share with any of them his children’s flesh that he will eat because he has nothing left during the siege and hardship your enemy imposes on you in all your towns.
Deuteronomy 28:56 - The most sensitive and refined woman among you, who would not venture to set the sole of her foot on the ground because of her refinement and sensitivity, will begrudge the husband she embraces, her son, and her daughter,
Deuteronomy 28:57 - the afterbirth that comes out from between her legs and the children she bears, because she will secretly eat them for lack of anything else during the siege and hardship your enemy imposes on you within your city gates.
Deuteronomy 28:58 - “If you are not careful to obey all the words of this law, which are written in this scroll, by fearing this glorious and awe-inspiring name — the Lord, your God —
Deuteronomy 28:59 - he will bring wondrous plagues on you and your descendants, severe and lasting plagues, and terrible and chronic sicknesses.
Deuteronomy 28:60 - He will afflict you again with all the diseases of Egypt, which you dreaded, and they will cling to you.
Deuteronomy 28:61 - The Lord will also afflict you with every sickness and plague not recorded in the book of this law, until you are destroyed.
Deuteronomy 28:62 - Though you were as numerous as the stars of the sky, you will be left with only a few people, because you did not obey the Lord your God.
Deuteronomy 28:63 - Just as the Lord was glad to cause you to prosper and to multiply you, so he will also be glad to cause you to perish and to destroy you. You will be ripped out of the land you are entering to possess.
Deuteronomy 28:64 - Then the Lord will scatter you among all peoples from one end of the earth to the other, and there you will worship other gods, of wood and stone, which neither you nor your ancestors have known.

2 Kings 24:2 - The Lord sent Chaldean, Aramean, Moabite, and Ammonite raiders against Jehoiakim. He sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the Lord he had spoken through his servants the prophets.
2 Kings 24:3 - Indeed, this happened to Judah at the Lord’s command to remove them from his presence. It was because of the sins of Manasseh, according to all he had done,
Jeremiah 15:8 - I made their widows more numerous than the sand of the seas. I brought a destroyer at noon against the mother of young men. I suddenly released on her agitation and terrors.

Jeremiah 39:4 - When King Zedekiah of Judah and all the fighting men saw them, they fled. They left the city at night by way of the king’s garden through the city gate between the two walls. They left along the route to the Arabah.
Jeremiah 39:5 - However, the Chaldean army pursued them and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho. They arrested him and brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar, Babylon’s king, at Riblah in the land of Hamath. The king passed sentence on him there.
Jeremiah 39:6 - At Riblah the king of Babylon slaughtered Zedekiah’s sons before his eyes, and he also slaughtered all Judah’s nobles.
Jeremiah 39:7 - Then he blinded Zedekiah and put him in bronze chains to take him to Babylon.
Jeremiah 39:8 - The Chaldeans next burned down the king’s palace and the people’s houses and tore down the walls of Jerusalem.
Jeremiah 39:9 - Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guards, deported the rest of the people to Babylon — those who had remained in the city and those deserters who had defected to him along with the rest of the people who remained.

Jeremiah 39:12 - “Take him and look after him. Don’t do him any harm, but do for him whatever he says.”

Jeremiah 39:14 - had Jeremiah brought from the guard’s courtyard and turned him over to Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, to take him home. So he settled among his own people.
Jeremiah 39:15 - Now the word of the Lord had come to Jeremiah when he was confined in the guard’s courtyard:
Jeremiah 39:16 - “Go tell Ebed-melech the Cushite, ‘This is what the Lord of Armies, the God of Israel, says: I am about to fulfill my words for disaster and not for good against this city. They will take place before your eyes on that day.
Jeremiah 39:17 - But I will rescue you on that day — this is the Lord’s declaration — and you will not be handed over to the men you dread.
Jeremiah 39:18 - Indeed, I will certainly deliver you so that you do not fall by the sword. Because you have trusted in me, you will retain your life like the spoils of war. This is the Lord’s declaration.’”

2 Kings 25:2 - The city was under siege until King Zedekiah’s eleventh year.
2 Kings 25:3 - By the ninth day of the fourth month the famine was so severe in the city that the common people had no food.
2 Kings 25:4 - Then the city was broken into, and all the warriors fled at night by way of the city gate between the two walls near the king’s garden, even though the Chaldeans surrounded the city. As the king made his way along the route to the Arabah,
2 Kings 25:5 - the Chaldean army pursued him and overtook him in the plains of Jericho. Zedekiah’s entire army left him and scattered.
2 Kings 25:6 - The Chaldeans seized the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah, and they passed sentence on him.
2 Kings 25:7 - They slaughtered Zedekiah’s sons before his eyes. Finally, the king of Babylon blinded Zedekiah, bound him in bronze chains, and took him to Babylon.
2 Kings 25:8 - On the seventh day of the fifth month — which was the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon — Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guards, a servant of the king of Babylon, entered Jerusalem.

2 Kings 25:18 - The captain of the guards also took away Seraiah the chief priest, Zephaniah the priest of the second rank, and the three doorkeepers.
2 Kings 25:19 - From the city he took a court official who had been appointed over the warriors; five trusted royal aides found in the city; the secretary of the commander of the army, who enlisted the people of the land for military duty; and sixty men from the common people who were found within the city.

Leviticus 26:41 - and I acted with hostility toward them and brought them into the land of their enemies — and when their uncircumcised hearts are humbled and they make amends for their iniquity,
Leviticus 26:42 - then I will remember my covenant with Jacob. I will also remember my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land.
Leviticus 26:43 - For the land abandoned by them will make up for its Sabbaths by lying desolate without the people, while they make amends for their iniquity, because they rejected my ordinances and abhorred my statutes.
Leviticus 26:44 - Yet in spite of this, while they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject or abhor them so as to destroy them and break my covenant with them, since I am the Lord their God.

Deuteronomy 32:22 - For fire has been kindled because of my anger and burns to the depths of Sheol; it devours the land and its produce, and scorches the foundations of the mountains.
Deuteronomy 32:23 - “I will pile disasters on them; I will use up my arrows against them.
Deuteronomy 32:24 - They will be weak from hunger, ravaged by pestilence and bitter plague; I will unleash on them wild beasts with fangs, as well as venomous snakes that slither in the dust.
Deuteronomy 32:25 - Outside, the sword will take their children, and inside, there will be terror; the young man and the young woman will be killed, the infant and the gray-haired man.
Deuteronomy 32:26 - “I would have said: I will cut them to pieces and blot out the memory of them from mankind,
Deuteronomy 32:27 - if I had not feared provocation from the enemy, or feared that these foes might misunderstand and say, ‘Our own hand has prevailed; it wasn’t the Lord who did all this.’”
Deuteronomy 32:28 - Israel is a nation lacking sense with no understanding at all.
Deuteronomy 28:15 - “But if you do not obey the Lord your God by carefully following all his commands and statutes I am giving you today, all these curses will come and overtake you:
Deuteronomy 28:16 - You will be cursed in the city and cursed in the country.
Deuteronomy 28:17 - Your basket and kneading bowl will be cursed.
Deuteronomy 28:18 - Your offspring will be cursed, and your land’s produce, the young of your herds, and the newborn of your flocks.
Deuteronomy 28:19 - You will be cursed when you come in and cursed when you go out.
Deuteronomy 28:20 - The Lord will send against you curses, confusion, and rebuke in everything you do until you are destroyed and quickly perish, because of the wickedness of your actions in abandoning me.
Deuteronomy 28:21 - The Lord will make pestilence cling to you until he has exterminated you from the land you are entering to possess.
Deuteronomy 28:22 - The Lord will afflict you with wasting disease, fever, inflammation, burning heat, drought, blight, and mildew; these will pursue you until you perish.
Deuteronomy 28:23 - The sky above you will be bronze, and the earth beneath you iron.
Deuteronomy 28:24 - The Lord will turn the rain of your land into falling dust; it will descend on you from the sky until you are destroyed.
Deuteronomy 28:25 - The Lord will cause you to be defeated before your enemies. You will march out against them from one direction but flee from them in seven directions. You will be an object of horror to all the kingdoms of the earth.
Deuteronomy 28:26 - Your corpses will be food for all the birds of the sky and the wild animals of the earth, with no one to scare them away.
Deuteronomy 28:27 - “The Lord will afflict you with the boils of Egypt, tumors, a festering rash, and scabies, from which you cannot be cured.
Deuteronomy 28:28 - The Lord will afflict you with madness, blindness, and mental confusion,
Deuteronomy 28:29 - so that at noon you will grope as a blind person gropes in the dark. You will not be successful in anything you do. You will only be oppressed and robbed continually, and no one will help you.
Deuteronomy 28:30 - You will become engaged to a woman, but another man will rape her. You will build a house but not live in it. You will plant a vineyard but not enjoy its fruit.
Deuteronomy 28:31 - Your ox will be slaughtered before your eyes, but you will not eat any of it. Your donkey will be taken away from you and not returned to you. Your flock will be given to your enemies, and no one will help you.
Deuteronomy 28:32 - Your sons and daughters will be given to another people, while your eyes grow weary looking for them every day. But you will be powerless to do anything.
Deuteronomy 28:33 - A people you don’t know will eat your land’s produce and everything you have labored for. You will only be oppressed and crushed continually.
Deuteronomy 28:34 - You will be driven mad by what you see.
Deuteronomy 28:35 - The Lord will afflict you with painful and incurable boils on your knees and thighs — from the sole of your foot to the top of your head.
Deuteronomy 28:36 - “The Lord will bring you and your king that you have appointed to a nation neither you nor your ancestors have known, and there you will worship other gods, of wood and stone.
Deuteronomy 28:37 - You will become an object of horror, scorn, and ridicule among all the peoples where the Lord will drive you.
Deuteronomy 28:38 - “You will sow much seed in the field but harvest little, because locusts will devour it.
Deuteronomy 28:39 - You will plant and cultivate vineyards but not drink the wine or gather the grapes, because worms will eat them.
Deuteronomy 28:40 - You will have olive trees throughout your territory but not moisten your skin with oil, because your olives will drop off.
Deuteronomy 28:41 - You will father sons and daughters, but they will not remain yours, because they will be taken prisoner.
Deuteronomy 28:42 - Buzzing insects will take possession of all your trees and your land’s produce.
Deuteronomy 28:43 - The resident alien among you will rise higher and higher above you, while you sink lower and lower.
Deuteronomy 28:44 - He will lend to you, but you won’t lend to him. He will be the head, and you will be the tail.
Deuteronomy 28:45 - “All these curses will come, pursue, and overtake you until you are destroyed, since you did not obey the Lord your God and keep the commands and statutes he gave you.
Deuteronomy 28:46 - These curses will be a sign and a wonder against you and your descendants forever.
Deuteronomy 28:47 - Because you didn’t serve the Lord your God with joy and a cheerful heart, even though you had an abundance of everything,
Deuteronomy 28:48 - you will serve your enemies that the Lord will send against you, in famine, thirst, nakedness, and a lack of everything. He will place an iron yoke on your neck until he has destroyed you.
Deuteronomy 28:49 - The Lord will bring a nation from far away, from the ends of the earth, to swoop down on you like an eagle, a nation whose language you won’t understand,
Deuteronomy 28:50 - a ruthless nation, showing no respect for the old and not sparing the young.
Deuteronomy 28:51 - They will eat the offspring of your livestock and your land’s produce until you are destroyed. They will leave you no grain, new wine, fresh oil, young of your herds, or newborn of your flocks until they cause you to perish.
Deuteronomy 28:52 - They will besiege you within all your city gates until your high and fortified walls, that you trust in, come down throughout your land. They will besiege you within all your city gates throughout the land the Lord your God has given you.
Deuteronomy 28:53 - “You will eat your offspring, the flesh of your sons and daughters the Lord your God has given you during the siege and hardship your enemy imposes on you.
Deuteronomy 28:54 - The most sensitive and refined man among you will look grudgingly at his brother, the wife he embraces, and the rest of his children,
Deuteronomy 28:55 - refusing to share with any of them his children’s flesh that he will eat because he has nothing left during the siege and hardship your enemy imposes on you in all your towns.
Deuteronomy 28:56 - The most sensitive and refined woman among you, who would not venture to set the sole of her foot on the ground because of her refinement and sensitivity, will begrudge the husband she embraces, her son, and her daughter,
Deuteronomy 28:57 - the afterbirth that comes out from between her legs and the children she bears, because she will secretly eat them for lack of anything else during the siege and hardship your enemy imposes on you within your city gates.
Deuteronomy 28:58 - “If you are not careful to obey all the words of this law, which are written in this scroll, by fearing this glorious and awe-inspiring name — the Lord, your God —
Deuteronomy 28:59 - he will bring wondrous plagues on you and your descendants, severe and lasting plagues, and terrible and chronic sicknesses.
Deuteronomy 28:60 - He will afflict you again with all the diseases of Egypt, which you dreaded, and they will cling to you.
Deuteronomy 28:61 - The Lord will also afflict you with every sickness and plague not recorded in the book of this law, until you are destroyed.
Deuteronomy 28:62 - Though you were as numerous as the stars of the sky, you will be left with only a few people, because you did not obey the Lord your God.
Deuteronomy 28:63 - Just as the Lord was glad to cause you to prosper and to multiply you, so he will also be glad to cause you to perish and to destroy you. You will be ripped out of the land you are entering to possess.
Deuteronomy 28:64 - Then the Lord will scatter you among all peoples from one end of the earth to the other, and there you will worship other gods, of wood and stone, which neither you nor your ancestors have known.
Deuteronomy 28:65 - You will find no peace among those nations, and there will be no resting place for the sole of your foot. There the Lord will give you a trembling heart, failing eyes, and a despondent spirit.
Deuteronomy 28:66 - Your life will hang in doubt before you. You will be in dread night and day, never certain of survival.
Deuteronomy 28:67 - In the morning you will say, ‘If only it were evening!’ and in the evening you will say, ‘If only it were morning!’ — because of the dread you will have in your heart and because of what you will see.
Deuteronomy 28:68 - The Lord will take you back in ships to Egypt by a route that I said you would never see again. There you will sell yourselves to your enemies as male and female slaves, but no one will buy you.”
2 Kings 24:2 - The Lord sent Chaldean, Aramean, Moabite, and Ammonite raiders against Jehoiakim. He sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the Lord he had spoken through his servants the prophets.
2 Kings 24:3 - Indeed, this happened to Judah at the Lord’s command to remove them from his presence. It was because of the sins of Manasseh, according to all he had done,
Jeremiah 15:8 - I made their widows more numerous than the sand of the seas. I brought a destroyer at noon against the mother of young men. I suddenly released on her agitation and terrors.
Jeremiah 15:9 - The mother of seven grew faint; she breathed her last breath. Her sun set while it was still day; she was ashamed and humiliated. The rest of them I will give over to the sword in the presence of their enemies.” This is the Lord’s declaration.
Jeremiah 39:1 - In the ninth year of King Zedekiah of Judah, in the tenth month, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon advanced against Jerusalem with his entire army and laid siege to it.
Jeremiah 39:2 - In the fourth month of Zedekiah’s eleventh year, on the ninth day of the month, the city was broken into.
Jeremiah 39:3 - All the officials of the king of Babylon entered and sat at the Middle Gate: Nergal-sharezer, Samgar, Nebusarsechim the chief of staff, Nergal-sharezer the chief soothsayer, and all the rest of the officials of Babylon’s king.
Jeremiah 39:4 - When King Zedekiah of Judah and all the fighting men saw them, they fled. They left the city at night by way of the king’s garden through the city gate between the two walls. They left along the route to the Arabah.
Jeremiah 39:5 - However, the Chaldean army pursued them and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho. They arrested him and brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar, Babylon’s king, at Riblah in the land of Hamath. The king passed sentence on him there.
Jeremiah 39:6 - At Riblah the king of Babylon slaughtered Zedekiah’s sons before his eyes, and he also slaughtered all Judah’s nobles.
Jeremiah 39:7 - Then he blinded Zedekiah and put him in bronze chains to take him to Babylon.
Jeremiah 39:8 - The Chaldeans next burned down the king’s palace and the people’s houses and tore down the walls of Jerusalem.
Jeremiah 39:9 - Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guards, deported the rest of the people to Babylon — those who had remained in the city and those deserters who had defected to him along with the rest of the people who remained.
Jeremiah 39:10 - However, Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guards, left in the land of Judah some of the poor people who owned nothing, and he gave them vineyards and fields at that time.
Jeremiah 39:11 - Speaking through Nebuzaradan, captain of the guards, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon gave orders concerning Jeremiah:
Jeremiah 39:12 - “Take him and look after him. Don’t do him any harm, but do for him whatever he says.”
Jeremiah 39:13 - Nebuzaradan, captain of the guards, Nebushazban the chief of staff, Nergal-sharezer the chief soothsayer, and all the captains of Babylon’s king
Jeremiah 39:14 - had Jeremiah brought from the guard’s courtyard and turned him over to Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, to take him home. So he settled among his own people.
Jeremiah 39:15 - Now the word of the Lord had come to Jeremiah when he was confined in the guard’s courtyard:
Jeremiah 39:16 - “Go tell Ebed-melech the Cushite, ‘This is what the Lord of Armies, the God of Israel, says: I am about to fulfill my words for disaster and not for good against this city. They will take place before your eyes on that day.
Jeremiah 39:17 - But I will rescue you on that day — this is the Lord’s declaration — and you will not be handed over to the men you dread.
Jeremiah 39:18 - Indeed, I will certainly deliver you so that you do not fall by the sword. Because you have trusted in me, you will retain your life like the spoils of war. This is the Lord’s declaration.’”
2 Chronicles 24:21 - But they conspired against him and stoned him at the king’s command in the courtyard of the Lord’s temple.
Deuteronomy 30:18 - I tell you today that you will certainly perish and will not prolong your days in the land you are entering to possess across the Jordan.
Lamentations 2:20 - Lord, look and consider to whom you have done this. Should women eat their own children, the infants they have nurtured? Should priests and prophets be killed in the Lord’s sanctuary? שׁ Shin
Lamentations 2:21 - Both young and old are lying on the ground in the streets. My young women and young men have fallen by the sword. You have killed them in the day of your anger, slaughtering without compassion. ת Taw
Lamentations 2:22 - You summon those who terrorize me on every side, as if for an appointed festival day; on the day of the Lord’s anger no one escaped or survived. My enemy has destroyed those I nurtured and reared.
Ezra 9:7 - Our guilt has been terrible from the days of our ancestors until the present. Because of our iniquities we have been handed over, along with our kings and priests, to the surrounding kings, and to the sword, captivity, plundering, and open shame, as it is today.
Psalms 74:20 - Consider the covenant, for the dark places of the land are full of violence.
