It was then put into the hands of the foremen managing the work on The Temple of God who then passed it on to the workers repairing God’s Temple—the carpenters, construction workers, and masons—so they could buy the lumber and dressed stone for rebuilding the foundations the kings of Judah had allowed to fall to pieces. The workmen were honest and diligent. Their foremen were Jahath and Obadiah, the Merarite Levites, and Zechariah and Meshullam from the Kohathites—these managed the project. The Levites—they were all skilled musicians—were in charge of the common laborers and supervised the workers as they went from job to job. The Levites also served as accountants, managers, and security guards.

Sie sagte: »So spricht der Herr, der Gott Israels: Alles, was in dem Buch steht, das der König von Juda gelesen hat, wird eintreffen! Das dort angedrohte Unheil will ich über die Stadt und ihre Einwohner hereinbrechen lassen.
2. Könige 22:17 - Denn sie haben mich verlassen und anderen Göttern ihre Opfer dargebracht. Mit ihren selbst gemachten Götzen haben sie mich herausgefordert. Mein Zorn über diese Stadt ist wie ein Feuer, das nicht mehr erlöscht.
2. Könige 22:18 - Über den König von Juda sage ich, der Herr und Gott Israels: Du hast nun meine Antwort gehört.

Jeremia 21:1 - König Zedekia sandte Paschhur, den Sohn von Malkija, und den Priester Zefanja, den Sohn von Maaseja, zu Jeremia. Sie sollten ihm mitteilen: »Nebukadnezar, der König von Babylonien, führt Krieg gegen uns. Befrage doch den Herrn und bitte ihn, ob er nicht ein Wunder für uns tut wie schon so oft und Nebukadnezar zum Abzug zwingt!« Da empfing Jeremia eine Botschaft vom Herrn.
