  • Deuteronomy 29:18 - Make sure there is no man or woman, clan or tribe among you today whose heart turns away from the Lord our God to go and worship the gods of those nations; make sure there is no root among you that produces such bitter poison.
  • Deuteronomy 29:19 - When such a person hears the words of this oath and they invoke a blessing on themselves, thinking, “I will be safe, even though I persist in going my own way,” they will bring disaster on the watered land as well as the dry.

  • Leviticus 26:35 - All the time that it lies desolate, the land will have the rest it did not have during the sabbaths you lived in it.
  • Leviticus 26:36 - “ ‘As for those of you who are left, I will make their hearts so fearful in the lands of their enemies that the sound of a windblown leaf will put them to flight. They will run as though fleeing from the sword, and they will fall, even though no one is pursuing them.
  • Leviticus 26:37 - They will stumble over one another as though fleeing from the sword, even though no one is pursuing them. So you will not be able to stand before your enemies.
  • Leviticus 26:38 - You will perish among the nations; the land of your enemies will devour you.

  • Leviticus 26:41 - which made me hostile toward them so that I sent them into the land of their enemies—then when their uncircumcised hearts are humbled and they pay for their sin,
  • Leviticus 26:42 - I will remember my covenant with Jacob and my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land.
  • Leviticus 26:43 - For the land will be deserted by them and will enjoy its sabbaths while it lies desolate without them. They will pay for their sins because they rejected my laws and abhorred my decrees.
  • Leviticus 26:44 - Yet in spite of this, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject them or abhor them so as to destroy them completely, breaking my covenant with them. I am the Lord their God.
  • Leviticus 26:45 - But for their sake I will remember the covenant with their ancestors whom I brought out of Egypt in the sight of the nations to be their God. I am the Lord.’ ”
  • Leviticus 26:46 - These are the decrees, the laws and the regulations that the Lord established at Mount Sinai between himself and the Israelites through Moses.
  • 2 Kings 17:6 - In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria captured Samaria and deported the Israelites to Assyria. He settled them in Halah, in Gozan on the Habor River and in the towns of the Medes.
  • 2 Kings 17:7 - All this took place because the Israelites had sinned against the Lord their God, who had brought them up out of Egypt from under the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. They worshiped other gods
  • 2 Chronicles 33:11 - So the Lord brought against them the army commanders of the king of Assyria, who took Manasseh prisoner, put a hook in his nose, bound him with bronze shackles and took him to Babylon.
  • Romans 4:15 - because the law brings wrath. And where there is no law there is no transgression.

  • 1 Kings 22:7 - But Jehoshaphat asked, “Is there no longer a prophet of the Lord here whom we can inquire of?”
  • Deuteronomy 31:16 - And the Lord said to Moses: “You are going to rest with your ancestors, and these people will soon prostitute themselves to the foreign gods of the land they are entering. They will forsake me and break the covenant I made with them.
  • Deuteronomy 31:17 - And in that day I will become angry with them and forsake them; I will hide my face from them, and they will be destroyed. Many disasters and calamities will come on them, and in that day they will ask, ‘Have not these disasters come on us because our God is not with us?’
  • Deuteronomy 31:18 - And I will certainly hide my face in that day because of all their wickedness in turning to other gods.
  • Deuteronomy 31:19 - “Now write down this song and teach it to the Israelites and have them sing it, so that it may be a witness for me against them.
  • Deuteronomy 31:20 - When I have brought them into the land flowing with milk and honey, the land I promised on oath to their ancestors, and when they eat their fill and thrive, they will turn to other gods and worship them, rejecting me and breaking my covenant.
  • Deuteronomy 31:21 - And when many disasters and calamities come on them, this song will testify against them, because it will not be forgotten by their descendants. I know what they are disposed to do, even before I bring them into the land I promised them on oath.”
  • Deuteronomy 31:22 - So Moses wrote down this song that day and taught it to the Israelites.
  • Deuteronomy 30:17 - But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them,
  • Deuteronomy 30:18 - I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess.
  • Deuteronomy 30:19 - This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live
  • 2 Kings 22:13 - “Go and inquire of the Lord for me and for the people and for all Judah about what is written in this book that has been found. Great is the Lord’s anger that burns against us because those who have gone before us have not obeyed the words of this book; they have not acted in accordance with all that is written there concerning us.”
  • Exodus 18:15 - Moses answered him, “Because the people come to me to seek God’s will.
  • 2 Chronicles 29:8 - Therefore, the anger of the Lord has fallen on Judah and Jerusalem; he has made them an object of dread and horror and scorn, as you can see with your own eyes.
  • Deuteronomy 29:18 - Make sure there is no man or woman, clan or tribe among you today whose heart turns away from the Lord our God to go and worship the gods of those nations; make sure there is no root among you that produces such bitter poison.
  • Deuteronomy 29:19 - When such a person hears the words of this oath and they invoke a blessing on themselves, thinking, “I will be safe, even though I persist in going my own way,” they will bring disaster on the watered land as well as the dry.
  • Deuteronomy 29:20 - The Lord will never be willing to forgive them; his wrath and zeal will burn against them. All the curses written in this book will fall on them, and the Lord will blot out their names from under heaven.
  • Deuteronomy 29:21 - The Lord will single them out from all the tribes of Israel for disaster, according to all the curses of the covenant written in this Book of the Law.
  • Deuteronomy 29:22 - Your children who follow you in later generations and foreigners who come from distant lands will see the calamities that have fallen on the land and the diseases with which the Lord has afflicted it.
  • Deuteronomy 29:23 - The whole land will be a burning waste of salt and sulfur—nothing planted, nothing sprouting, no vegetation growing on it. It will be like the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboyim, which the Lord overthrew in fierce anger.
  • Deuteronomy 29:24 - All the nations will ask: “Why has the Lord done this to this land? Why this fierce, burning anger?”
  • Deuteronomy 29:25 - And the answer will be: “It is because this people abandoned the covenant of the Lord, the God of their ancestors, the covenant he made with them when he brought them out of Egypt.
  • Deuteronomy 29:26 - They went off and worshiped other gods and bowed down to them, gods they did not know, gods he had not given them.
  • Deuteronomy 29:27 - Therefore the Lord’s anger burned against this land, so that he brought on it all the curses written in this book.
  • Deuteronomy 29:28 - In furious anger and in great wrath the Lord uprooted them from their land and thrust them into another land, as it is now.”
  • Isaiah 37:2 - He sent Eliakim the palace administrator, Shebna the secretary, and the leading priests, all wearing sackcloth, to the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz.
  • Isaiah 37:3 - They told him, “This is what Hezekiah says: This day is a day of distress and rebuke and disgrace, as when children come to the moment of birth and there is no strength to deliver them.
  • Isaiah 37:4 - It may be that the Lord your God will hear the words of the field commander, whom his master, the king of Assyria, has sent to ridicule the living God, and that he will rebuke him for the words the Lord your God has heard. Therefore pray for the remnant that still survives.”
  • Deuteronomy 28:15 - However, if you do not obey the Lord your God and do not carefully follow all his commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come on you and overtake you:
  • 1 Samuel 9:9 - (Formerly in Israel, if someone went to inquire of God, they would say, “Come, let us go to the seer,” because the prophet of today used to be called a seer.)
  • Romans 2:8 - But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.
  • Romans 2:9 - There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile;
  • Romans 2:10 - but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.
  • Romans 2:11 - For God does not show favoritism.
  • Romans 2:12 - All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law.
  • 2 Chronicles 28:6 - In one day Pekah son of Remaliah killed a hundred and twenty thousand soldiers in Judah—because Judah had forsaken the Lord, the God of their ancestors.
  • Ezekiel 14:1 - Some of the elders of Israel came to me and sat down in front of me.
  • Ezekiel 14:2 - Then the word of the Lord came to me:
  • Ezekiel 14:3 - “Son of man, these men have set up idols in their hearts and put wicked stumbling blocks before their faces. Should I let them inquire of me at all?
  • Ezekiel 14:4 - Therefore speak to them and tell them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: When any of the Israelites set up idols in their hearts and put a wicked stumbling block before their faces and then go to a prophet, I the Lord will answer them myself in keeping with their great idolatry.
  • Ezekiel 14:5 - I will do this to recapture the hearts of the people of Israel, who have all deserted me for their idols.’
  • Ezekiel 14:6 - “Therefore say to the people of Israel, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Repent! Turn from your idols and renounce all your detestable practices!
  • Ezekiel 14:7 - “ ‘When any of the Israelites or any foreigner residing in Israel separate themselves from me and set up idols in their hearts and put a wicked stumbling block before their faces and then go to a prophet to inquire of me, I the Lord will answer them myself.
  • Ezekiel 14:8 - I will set my face against them and make them an example and a byword. I will remove them from my people. Then you will know that I am the Lord.
  • Ezekiel 14:9 - “ ‘And if the prophet is enticed to utter a prophecy, I the Lord have enticed that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand against him and destroy him from among my people Israel.
  • Ezekiel 14:10 - They will bear their guilt—the prophet will be as guilty as the one who consults him.
  • Ezekiel 14:11 - Then the people of Israel will no longer stray from me, nor will they defile themselves anymore with all their sins. They will be my people, and I will be their God, declares the Sovereign Lord.’ ”
  • Jeremiah 21:2 - “Inquire now of the Lord for us because Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon is attacking us. Perhaps the Lord will perform wonders for us as in times past so that he will withdraw from us.”
