  • Galatians 6:1 - Brothers, if anyone is caught in any sin, you who are spiritual [that is, you who are responsive to the guidance of the Spirit] are to restore such a person in a spirit of gentleness [not with a sense of superiority or self-righteousness], keeping a watchful eye on yourself, so that you are not tempted as well.
  • Titus 2:2 - Older men are to be temperate, dignified, sensible, sound in faith, in love, in steadfastness [Christlike in character].
  • Titus 2:6 - In a similar way urge the young men to be sensible and self-controlled and to behave wisely [taking life seriously].
  • 1 Timothy 5:19 - Do not accept an accusation against an elder unless it is based on [the testimony of at least] two or three witnesses.
  • 1 Timothy 5:20 - As for those [elders] who continue in sin, reprimand them in the presence of all [the congregation], so that the rest will be warned.
  • 1 Peter 5:5 - Likewise, you younger men [of lesser rank and experience], be subject to your elders [seek their counsel]; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another [tie on the servant’s apron], for God is opposed to the proud [the disdainful, the presumptuous, and He defeats them], but He gives grace to the humble.
  • 1 Peter 5:6 - Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God [set aside self-righteous pride], so that He may exalt you [to a place of honor in His service] at the appropriate time,
  • Leviticus 19:32 - ‘You shall rise before the gray-headed and honor the aged, and you shall fear your God [with profound reverence]; I am the Lord.
