  • Zechariah 1:4 - “Do not be like your people of long ago. The earlier prophets gave them my message. I said, ‘Stop doing what is evil. Turn away from your sinful practices.’ But they would not listen to me. They would not pay any attention,” announces the Lord.
  • Zechariah 1:5 - “Where are those people now? And what about my prophets? Do they live forever?
  • Zechariah 1:6 - I commanded my servants the prophets what to say. I told them what I planned to do. But your people refused to obey me. So I had to punish them. “Then they had a change of heart. They said, ‘The Lord who rules over all has punished us because of how we have lived. He was fair and right to do that. He has done to us just what he decided to do.’ ”
  • Amos 2:4 - The Lord says, “The people of Judah have sinned again and again. So I will judge them. They have refused to obey my law. They have not kept my rules. Other gods have led them astray. Their people of long ago worshiped those gods.
  • Jeremiah 9:14 - Instead, they have done what their stubborn hearts wanted them to do. They have worshiped the gods that are named Baal. They have done what their people have taught them to do through the years.”
  • Jeremiah 44:17 - We will certainly do everything we said we would. We’ll burn incense to the female god called the Queen of Heaven. We’ll pour out drink offerings to her. We’ll do just as we and our people of long ago have done. Our kings and our officials also did it. All of us did it in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem. At that time we had plenty of food. We were well off. We didn’t suffer any harm.
  • 1 Peter 1:7 - Your troubles have come in order to prove that your faith is real. Your faith is worth more than gold. That’s because gold can pass away even when fire has made it pure. Your faith is meant to bring praise, honor and glory to God. This will happen when Jesus Christ returns.
  • 1 Peter 4:3 - You have spent enough time in the past doing what ungodly people choose to do. You lived a wild life. You longed for evil things. You got drunk. You went to wild parties. You worshiped statues of gods, which the Lord hates.
  • Psalm 62:10 - Don’t trust in money you have taken from others. Don’t put false hope in things you have stolen. Even if your riches grow, don’t put your trust in them.
  • 1 Corinthians 3:20 - It is also written, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of wise people don’t amount to anything.” ( Psalm 94:11 )
  • Romans 1:21 - They knew God. But they didn’t honor him as God. They didn’t thank him. Their thinking became worthless. Their foolish hearts became dark.
  • Psalm 49:7 - No one can pay for the life of anyone else. No one can give God what that would cost.
  • Psalm 49:8 - The price for a life is very high. No payment is ever enough.
  • Galatians 1:4 - Jesus gave his life for our sins. He set us free from this evil world. That was what our God and Father wanted.
  • Ephesians 4:17 - Here is what I’m telling you. I am speaking for the Lord as I warn you. You must no longer live as the Gentiles do. Their thoughts don’t have any purpose.
  • 1 Corinthians 7:23 - Christ has paid the price for you. Don’t become slaves of human beings.
  • Titus 2:14 - He gave himself for us. By doing that, he set us free from all evil. He wanted to make us pure. He wanted us to be his very own people. He wanted us to desire to do what is good.
  • 1 Corinthians 6:20 - Christ has paid the price for you. So use your bodies in a way that honors God.
