  • 1 Chronicles 25:1 - Moreover, David and the commanders of the army set apart for the service some of the sons of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun, who were to prophesy with lyres, harps, and cymbals; and the number of those who performed this service was:

  • Numbers 18:1 - So the Lord said to Aaron, “You, your sons, and your father’s household with you shall bear the guilt in connection with the sanctuary, and you and your sons with you shall bear the guilt in connection with your priesthood.
  • Numbers 18:2 - But also bring your brothers with you, the tribe of Levi, the tribe of your father, so that they may join you and serve you, while you and your sons with you are before the tent of the testimony.
  • Numbers 18:3 - And they shall perform duties for you and the duties of the whole tent, but they shall not come near the furnishings of the sanctuary and the altar, or both they and you will die.
  • Numbers 18:4 - They shall join you and perform the duties of the tent of meeting, for all the service of the tent; but an unauthorized person shall not come near you.
  • Numbers 18:5 - So you shall perform the duties of the sanctuary and the duties of the altar, so that there will no longer be wrath on the sons of Israel.
  • Numbers 18:6 - Behold, I Myself have taken your fellow Levites from among the sons of Israel; they are a gift to you, dedicated to the Lord, to perform the service for the tent of meeting.
  • Numbers 18:7 - But you and your sons with you shall attend to your priesthood for everything that concerns the altar and inside the veil, and you are to perform service. I am giving you the priesthood as a service that is a gift, and the unauthorized person who comes near shall be put to death.”
  • Numbers 18:8 - Then the Lord spoke to Aaron, “Now behold, I Myself have put you in charge of My offerings, all the holy gifts of the sons of Israel I have given to you as a portion and to your sons as a permanent allotment.
  • Numbers 18:9 - This shall be yours from the most holy gifts reserved from the fire; every offering of theirs, namely every grain offering, every sin offering, and every guilt offering, with which they shall make restitution to Me, shall be most holy for you and for your sons.

  • Numbers 18:11 - This also is yours, the offering of their gift, that is, all the wave offerings of the sons of Israel; I have given them to you and to your sons and daughters with you as a permanent allotment. Everyone of your household who is clean may eat it.
  • Numbers 18:12 - All the best of the fresh oil and all the best of the fresh wine and of the grain, the first fruits of what they give to the Lord, I have given them to you.
  • Numbers 18:13 - The first ripe fruits of all that is in their land, which they bring to the Lord, shall be yours; everyone of your household who is clean may eat it.
  • Numbers 18:14 - Everything banned from secular use in Israel shall be yours.
  • Numbers 18:15 - Every firstborn of the womb of all flesh, whether human or animal, which they offer to the Lord, shall be yours; however you must redeem the human firstborn, and the firstborn of unclean animals you shall redeem.
  • Numbers 18:16 - As to their redemption price, from a month old you shall redeem them, by your assessment, five shekels in silver by the shekel of the sanctuary, which is twenty gerahs.
  • Numbers 18:17 - But the firstborn of an ox, the firstborn of a sheep, or the firstborn of a goat, you shall not redeem; they are holy. You shall sprinkle their blood on the altar and offer up their fat in smoke as an offering by fire, for a soothing aroma to the Lord.
  • Numbers 18:18 - However, their meat shall be yours; it shall be yours like the breast of a wave offering and like the right thigh.
  • Numbers 18:19 - All the offerings of the holy gifts, which the sons of Israel offer to the Lord, I have given to you and your sons and your daughters with you, as a permanent allotment. It is a permanent covenant of salt before the Lord to you and your descendants with you.”
  • Numbers 18:20 - Then the Lord said to Aaron, “You shall have no inheritance in their land nor own any portion among them; I am your portion and your inheritance among the sons of Israel.

  • Numbers 18:28 - So you shall also present an offering to the Lord from all your tithes, which you receive from the sons of Israel; and from it you shall give the Lord’s offering to Aaron the priest.
  • Numbers 18:29 - Out of all your gifts you shall present every offering due to the Lord, from all the best of them, the sacred part from them.’
  • Numbers 18:30 - And you shall say to them, ‘When you have offered from it the best of it, then the rest shall be credited to the Levites like the product of the threshing floor, and like the product of the wine vat.
  • Numbers 18:31 - You may eat it anywhere, you and your households, for it is your compensation in return for your service in the tent of meeting.
  • Numbers 18:32 - And you will bring on yourselves no sin by reason of it when you have offered the best of it. But you shall not profane the sacred gifts of the sons of Israel, so that you do not die.’ ”

  • Numbers 8:6 - “Take the Levites from among the sons of Israel and cleanse them.
  • Numbers 8:7 - This is what you shall do to them, for their cleansing: sprinkle purifying water on them, and have them use a razor over their whole body, and they shall wash their clothes and cleanse themselves.
  • Numbers 8:8 - Then have them take a bull with its grain offering, fine flour mixed with oil; and you shall take a second bull as a sin offering.
  • Numbers 8:9 - So you shall present the Levites in front of the tent of meeting. You shall also assemble the whole congregation of the sons of Israel,
  • Numbers 8:10 - and present the Levites before the Lord; and the sons of Israel shall lay their hands on the Levites.
  • Numbers 8:11 - Aaron then shall present the Levites before the Lord as a wave offering from the sons of Israel, so that they may qualify to perform the service of the Lord.
  • Numbers 8:12 - Now the Levites shall lay their hands on the heads of the bulls; then you are to offer the one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering to the Lord, to make atonement for the Levites.

  • Numbers 8:16 - for they are exclusively given to Me from among the sons of Israel. I have taken them for Myself instead of the firstborn of every womb, the firstborn of all the sons of Israel.

  • Numbers 8:21 - The Levites, too, purified themselves from sin and washed their clothes; and Aaron presented them as a wave offering before the Lord. Aaron also made atonement for them to cleanse them.

  • Numbers 8:26 - They may, however, assist their brothers in the tent of meeting, to fulfill an obligation, but they themselves shall do no work. In this way you shall deal with the Levites in their obligations.”

  • Numbers 8:22 - Then after that the Levites went in to perform their service in the tent of meeting before Aaron and his sons; just as the Lord had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so they did to them.
  • Numbers 8:23 - Now the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
  • Numbers 8:24 - “This is what applies to the Levites: from twenty-five years old and upward they shall enter to perform service in the work of the tent of meeting.
  • Numbers 8:25 - But at the age of fifty years they shall retire from service in the work and not work anymore.
  • Numbers 8:26 - They may, however, assist their brothers in the tent of meeting, to fulfill an obligation, but they themselves shall do no work. In this way you shall deal with the Levites in their obligations.”
  • Numbers 16:9 - Is it too small an honor for you that the God of Israel has singled you out from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to Himself, to perform the service of the tabernacle of the Lord, and to stand before the congregation to minister to them;
  • Numbers 16:10 - and that He has brought you near, Korah, and all your brothers, sons of Levi, with you? But are you seeking the priesthood as well?
  • Numbers 3:1 - Now these are the records of the generations of Aaron and Moses at the time when the Lord spoke with Moses on Mount Sinai.
  • Numbers 3:2 - These then are the names of the sons of Aaron: Nadab the firstborn, and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
  • Numbers 3:3 - These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the anointed priests, whom he ordained to serve as priests.
  • Numbers 3:4 - But Nadab and Abihu died in the presence of the Lord when they offered strange fire before the Lord in the wilderness of Sinai; and they had no children. So Eleazar and Ithamar served as priests in the lifetime of their father Aaron.
  • 1 Chronicles 23:2 - And he gathered together all the leaders of Israel with the priests and the Levites.
