1 Chronicles 16:5 - Asaph, the leader of this group, sounded the cymbals. Second to him was Zechariah, followed by Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel. They played the harps and lyres.
Amos 5:23 - Away with your noisy hymns of praise! I will not listen to the music of your harps.
Psalms 68:25 - Singers are in front, musicians behind; between them are young women playing tambourines.
Psalms 68:26 - Praise God, all you people of Israel; praise the Lord, the source of Israel’s life.

2 Samuel 6:5 - David and all the people of Israel were celebrating before the Lord, singing songs and playing all kinds of musical instruments—lyres, harps, tambourines, castanets, and cymbals.
2 Samuel 6:6 - But when they arrived at the threshing floor of Nacon, the oxen stumbled, and Uzzah reached out his hand and steadied the Ark of God.
2 Samuel 6:7 - Then the Lord’s anger was aroused against Uzzah, and God struck him dead because of this. So Uzzah died right there beside the Ark of God.
2 Samuel 6:8 - David was angry because the Lord’s anger had burst out against Uzzah. He named that place Perez-uzzah (which means “to burst out against Uzzah”), as it is still called today.
2 Samuel 6:9 - David was now afraid of the Lord, and he asked, “How can I ever bring the Ark of the Lord back into my care?”
2 Samuel 6:10 - So David decided not to move the Ark of the Lord into the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed-edom of Gath.
2 Samuel 6:11 - The Ark of the Lord remained there in Obed-edom’s house for three months, and the Lord blessed Obed-edom and his entire household.
2 Samuel 6:12 - Then King David was told, “The Lord has blessed Obed-edom’s household and everything he has because of the Ark of God.” So David went there and brought the Ark of God from the house of Obed-edom to the City of David with a great celebration.
2 Samuel 6:13 - After the men who were carrying the Ark of the Lord had gone six steps, David sacrificed a bull and a fattened calf.
2 Samuel 6:14 - And David danced before the Lord with all his might, wearing a priestly garment.
2 Samuel 6:15 - So David and all the people of Israel brought up the Ark of the Lord with shouts of joy and the blowing of rams’ horns.
2 Samuel 6:16 - But as the Ark of the Lord entered the City of David, Michal, the daughter of Saul, looked down from her window. When she saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord, she was filled with contempt for him.
2 Samuel 6:17 - They brought the Ark of the Lord and set it in its place inside the special tent David had prepared for it. And David sacrificed burnt offerings and peace offerings to the Lord.
2 Samuel 6:18 - When he had finished his sacrifices, David blessed the people in the name of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.
2 Samuel 6:19 - Then he gave to every Israelite man and woman in the crowd a loaf of bread, a cake of dates, and a cake of raisins. Then all the people returned to their homes.
2 Samuel 6:20 - When David returned home to bless his own family, Michal, the daughter of Saul, came out to meet him. She said in disgust, “How distinguished the king of Israel looked today, shamelessly exposing himself to the servant girls like any vulgar person might do!”
2 Samuel 6:21 - David retorted to Michal, “I was dancing before the Lord, who chose me above your father and all his family! He appointed me as the leader of Israel, the people of the Lord, so I celebrate before the Lord.
2 Samuel 6:22 - Yes, and I am willing to look even more foolish than this, even to be humiliated in my own eyes! But those servant girls you mentioned will indeed think I am distinguished!”
2 Samuel 6:23 - So Michal, the daughter of Saul, remained childless throughout her entire life.
Amos 6:5 - You sing trivial songs to the sound of the harp and fancy yourselves to be great musicians like David.
Daniel 3:5 - When you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipes, and other musical instruments, bow to the ground to worship King Nebuchadnezzar’s gold statue.
Daniel 3:6 - Anyone who refuses to obey will immediately be thrown into a blazing furnace.”
Daniel 3:7 - So at the sound of the musical instruments, all the people, whatever their race or nation or language, bowed to the ground and worshiped the gold statue that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up.
1 Chronicles 23:5 - Another 4,000 will work as gatekeepers, and 4,000 will praise the Lord with the musical instruments I have made.”
1 Chronicles 25:1 - David and the army commanders then appointed men from the families of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun to proclaim God’s messages to the accompaniment of lyres, harps, and cymbals. Here is a list of their names and their work:

1 Chronicles 25:4 - From the sons of Heman, there were Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shubael, Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, Romamti-ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth.
1 Chronicles 25:5 - All these were the sons of Heman, the king’s seer, for God had honored him with fourteen sons and three daughters.
1 Chronicles 25:6 - All these men were under the direction of their fathers as they made music at the house of the Lord. Their responsibilities included the playing of cymbals, harps, and lyres at the house of God. Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman reported directly to the king.
1 Chronicles 15:10 - From the descendants of Uzziel, 112, with Amminadab as their leader.
1 Chronicles 15:11 - Then David summoned the priests, Zadok and Abiathar, and these Levite leaders: Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab.
1 Chronicles 15:12 - He said to them, “You are the leaders of the Levite families. You must purify yourselves and all your fellow Levites, so you can bring the Ark of the Lord, the God of Israel, to the place I have prepared for it.
1 Chronicles 15:13 - Because you Levites did not carry the Ark the first time, the anger of the Lord our God burst out against us. We failed to ask God how to move it properly.”
1 Chronicles 15:14 - So the priests and the Levites purified themselves in order to bring the Ark of the Lord, the God of Israel, to Jerusalem.
1 Chronicles 15:15 - Then the Levites carried the Ark of God on their shoulders with its carrying poles, just as the Lord had instructed Moses.
1 Chronicles 15:16 - David also ordered the Levite leaders to appoint a choir of Levites who were singers and musicians to sing joyful songs to the accompaniment of harps, lyres, and cymbals.
1 Chronicles 15:17 - So the Levites appointed Heman son of Joel along with his fellow Levites: Asaph son of Berekiah, and Ethan son of Kushaiah from the clan of Merari.
1 Chronicles 15:18 - The following men were chosen as their assistants: Zechariah, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, and the gatekeepers—Obed-edom and Jeiel.
1 Chronicles 15:19 - The musicians Heman, Asaph, and Ethan were chosen to sound the bronze cymbals.
1 Chronicles 15:20 - Zechariah, Aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah, and Benaiah were chosen to play the harps.
1 Chronicles 15:21 - Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-edom, Jeiel, and Azaziah were chosen to play the lyres.
1 Chronicles 15:22 - Kenaniah, the head Levite, was chosen as the choir leader because of his skill.
1 Chronicles 15:23 - Berekiah and Elkanah were chosen to guard the Ark.
1 Chronicles 15:24 - Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah, and Eliezer—all of whom were priests—were chosen to blow the trumpets as they marched in front of the Ark of God. Obed-edom and Jehiah were chosen to guard the Ark.
1 Chronicles 16:42 - They used their trumpets, cymbals, and other instruments to accompany their songs of praise to God. And the sons of Jeduthun were appointed as gatekeepers.
1 Samuel 10:5 - “When you arrive at Gibeah of God, where the garrison of the Philistines is located, you will meet a band of prophets coming down from the place of worship. They will be playing a harp, a tambourine, a flute, and a lyre, and they will be prophesying.
Psalms 150:3 - Praise him with a blast of the ram’s horn; praise him with the lyre and harp!
