Romans 13:1-7
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to[ execute] wrath upon him that doeth evil.Wherefore[ ye] must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute[ is due]; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

1 Peter 2 13-1 Peter 2 17
Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:As free, and not using[ your] liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.Honour all[ men]. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

Numbers 16:1-3
Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took[ men]:And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown:And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them,[ Ye take] too much upon you, seeing all the congregation[ are] holy, every one of them, and the LORD[ is] among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD?

1 Samuel 12 12-1 Samuel 12 19
And when ye saw that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon came against you, ye said unto me, Nay; but a king shall reign over us: when the LORD your God[ was] your king. Now therefore behold the king whom ye have chosen,[ and] whom ye have desired! and, behold, the LORD hath set a king over you.If ye will fear the LORD, and serve him, and obey his voice, and not rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall both ye and also the king that reigneth over you continue following the LORD your God:But if ye will not obey the voice of the LORD, but rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall the hand of the LORD be against you, as[ it was] against your fathers. Now therefore stand and see this great thing, which the LORD will do before your eyes.[ Is it] not wheat harvest to day? I will call unto the LORD, and he shall send thunder and rain; that ye may perceive and see that your wickedness[ is] great, which ye have done in the sight of the LORD, in asking you a king.So Samuel called unto the LORD; and the LORD sent thunder and rain that day: and all the people greatly feared the LORD and Samuel. And all the people said unto Samuel, Pray for thy servants unto the LORD thy God, that we die not: for we have added unto all our sins[ this] evil, to ask us a king.

2 Samuel 15 13-2 Samuel 15 37
And there came a messenger to David, saying, The hearts of the men of Israel are after Absalom. And David said unto all his servants that[ were] with him at Jerusalem, Arise, and let us flee; for we shall not[ else] escape from Absalom: make speed to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly, and bring evil upon us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword. And the king’s servants said unto the king, Behold, thy servants[ are ready to do] whatsoever my lord the king shall appoint. And the king went forth, and all his household after him. And the king left ten women,[ which were] concubines, to keep the house. And the king went forth, and all the people after him, and tarried in a place that was far off.And all his servants passed on beside him; and all the Cherethites, and all the Pelethites, and all the Gittites, six hundred men which came after him from Gath, passed on before the king. Then said the king to Ittai the Gittite, Wherefore goest thou also with us? return to thy place, and abide with the king: for thou[ art] a stranger, and also an exile.Whereas thou camest[ but] yesterday, should I this day make thee go up and down with us? seeing I go whither I may, return thou, and take back thy brethren: mercy and truth[ be] with thee. And Ittai answered the king, and said,[ As] the LORD liveth, and[ as] my lord the king liveth, surely in what place my lord the king shall be, whether in death or life, even there also will thy servant be.And David said to Ittai, Go and pass over. And Ittai the Gittite passed over, and all his men, and all the little ones that[ were] with him.And all the country wept with a loud voice, and all the people passed over: the king also himself passed over the brook Kidron, and all the people passed over, toward the way of the wilderness. And lo Zadok also, and all the Levites[ were] with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God: and they set down the ark of God; and Abiathar went up, until all the people had done passing out of the city. And the king said unto Zadok, Carry back the ark of God into the city: if I shall find favour in the eyes of the LORD, he will bring me again, and shew me[ both] it, and his habitation:But if he thus say, I have no delight in thee; behold,[ here am] I, let him do to me as seemeth good unto him.The king said also unto Zadok the priest,[ Art not] thou a seer? return into the city in peace, and your two sons with you, Ahimaaz thy son, and Jonathan the son of Abiathar.See, I will tarry in the plain of the wilderness, until there come word from you to certify me.Zadok therefore and Abiathar carried the ark of God again to Jerusalem: and they tarried there. And David went up by the ascent of[ mount] Olivet, and wept as he went up, and had his head covered, and he went barefoot: and all the people that[ was] with him covered every man his head, and they went up, weeping as they went up.And[ one] told David, saying, Ahithophel[ is] among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O LORD, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness. And it came to pass, that[ when] David was come to the top[ of the mount], where he worshipped God, behold, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his coat rent, and earth upon his head:Unto whom David said, If thou passest on with me, then thou shalt be a burden unto me:But if thou return to the city, and say unto Absalom, I will be thy servant, O king;[ as] I[ have been] thy father’s servant hitherto, so[ will] I now also[ be] thy servant: then mayest thou for me defeat the counsel of Ahithophel. And[ hast thou] not there with thee Zadok and Abiathar the priests? therefore it shall be,[ that] what thing soever thou shalt hear out of the king’s house, thou shalt tell[ it] to Zadok and Abiathar the priests.Behold,[ they have] there with them their two sons, Ahimaaz Zadok’s[ son], and Jonathan Abiathar’s[ son]; and by them ye shall send unto me every thing that ye can hear.So Hushai David’s friend came into the city, and Absalom came into Jerusalem.

Ecclesiastes 8:2-5
I[ counsel thee] to keep the king’s commandment, and[ that] in regard of the oath of God.Be not hasty to go out of his sight: stand not in an evil thing; for he doeth whatsoever pleaseth him.Where the word of a king[ is, there is] power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou?Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man’s heart discerneth both time and judgment.
