John 6:5-13
Lifting up his eyes, then, and seeing that a large crowd was coming toward him, Jesus said to Philip,“ Where are we to buy bread, so that these people may eat?”He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he would do.Philip answered him,“ Two hundred denarii worth of bread would not be enough for each of them to get a little.”One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him,“ There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are they for so many?”Jesus said,“ Have the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, about five thousand in number.Jesus then took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated. So also the fish, as much as they wanted. And when they had eaten their fill, he told his disciples,“ Gather up the leftover fragments, that nothing may be lost.”So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves left by those who had eaten.

“ I have compassion on the crowd, because they have been with me now three days and have nothing to eat.And if I send them away hungry to their homes, they will faint on the way. And some of them have come from far away.”And his disciples answered him,“ How can one feed these people with bread here in this desolate place?”And he asked them,“ How many loaves do you have?” They said,“ Seven.”And he directed the crowd to sit down on the ground. And he took the seven loaves, and having given thanks, he broke them and gave them to his disciples to set before the people; and they set them before the crowd. And they had a few small fish. And having blessed them, he said that these also should be set before them. And they ate and were satisfied. And they took up the broken pieces left over, seven baskets full. And there were about four thousand people. And he sent them away.

Luke 9:10-17
On their return the apostles told him all that they had done. And he took them and withdrew apart to a town called Bethsaida. When the crowds learned it, they followed him, and he welcomed them and spoke to them of the kingdom of God and cured those who had need of healing. Now the day began to wear away, and the twelve came and said to him,“ Send the crowd away to go into the surrounding villages and countryside to find lodging and get provisions, for we are here in a desolate place.”But he said to them,“ You give them something to eat.” They said,“ We have no more than five loaves and two fish— unless we are to go and buy food for all these people.”For there were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples,“ Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each.”And they did so, and had them all sit down. And taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and said a blessing over them. Then he broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd. And they all ate and were satisfied. And what was left over was picked up, twelve baskets of broken pieces.

Matthew 14:13-21
Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a desolate place by himself. But when the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from the towns. When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick. Now when it was evening, the disciples came to him and said,“ This is a desolate place, and the day is now over; send the crowds away to go into the villages and buy food for themselves.”But Jesus said,“ They need not go away; you give them something to eat.”They said to him,“ We have only five loaves here and two fish.”And he said,“ Bring them here to me.”Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass, and taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and said a blessing. Then he broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up twelve baskets full of the broken pieces left over. And those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.
