Matthew 25:14-29
“ For it is just like a man about to go on a journey, who called his own slaves and entrusted his possessions to them.To one he gave five talents, to another, two, and to another, one, each according to his own ability; and he went on his journey. The one who had received the five talents immediately went and did business with them, and earned five more talents. In the same way the one who had received the two talents earned two more. But he who received the one talent went away and dug a hole in the ground, and hid his master’s money.“ Now after a long time the master of those slaves* came and* settled accounts with them. The one who had received the five talents came up and brought five more talents, saying,‘ Master, you entrusted five talents to me. See, I have earned five more talents.’His master said to him,‘ Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter the joy of your master.’“ Also the one who had received the two talents came up and said,‘ Master, you entrusted two talents to me. See, I have earned two more talents.’His master said to him,‘ Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter the joy of your master.’“ Now the one who had received the one talent also came up and said,‘ Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter seed. And I was afraid, so I went away and hid your talent in the ground. See, you still have what is yours.’“ But his master answered and said to him,‘ You worthless, lazy slave! Did you know that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I did not scatter seed? Then you ought to have put my money in the bank, and on my arrival I would have received my money back with interest. Therefore: take the talent away from him, and give it to the one who has the ten talents.’“ For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away.

Matthew 13:12

Luke 16:10-12
“ The one who is faithful in a very little thing is also faithful in much; and the one who is unrighteous in a very little thing is also unrighteous in much. Therefore if you have not been faithful in the use of unrighteous wealth, who will entrust the true wealth to you?And if you have not been faithful in the use of that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own?

Numbers 15:29-30
You shall have one law for the native among the sons of Israel and for the stranger who resides among them, for one who does anything wrong unintentionally. But the person who does wrong defiantly, whether he is a native or a stranger, that one is blaspheming the Lord; and that person shall be cut off from among his people.

Romans 2:12-16
For all who have sinned without the Law will also perish without the Law, and all who have sinned under the Law will be judged by the Law;for it is not the hearers of the Law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the Law who will be justified. For when Gentiles who do not have the Law instinctively perform the requirements of the Law, these, though not having the Law, are a law to themselves,in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience testifying and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them,on the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of mankind through Christ Jesus.

Genesis 39:8-23
But he refused and said to his master’s wife,“ Look, with me here, my master does not concern himself with anything in the house, and he has put me in charge of all that he owns. There is no one greater in this house than I, and he has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do this great evil, and sin against God?”Though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he did not listen to her to lie beside her or be with her.Now it happened one day that he went into the house to do his work, and none of the people of the household was there inside. So she grabbed him by his garment, saying,“ Sleep with me!” But he left his garment in her hand and fled, and went outside. When she saw that he had left his garment in her hand and had fled outside, she called to the men of her household and said to them,“ See, he has brought in a Hebrew to us to make fun of us; he came in to me to sleep with me, and I screamed. When he heard that I raised my voice and screamed, he left his garment beside me and fled and went outside.”So she left his garment beside her until his master came home. Then she spoke to him with these words:“ The Hebrew slave, whom you brought to us, came in to me to make fun of me;but when I raised my voice and screamed, he left his garment beside me and fled outside.”Now when his master heard the words of his wife which she spoke to him, saying,“ This is what your slave did to me,” his anger burned. So Joseph’s master took him and put him into the prison, the place where the king’s prisoners were confined; and he was there in the prison. But the Lord was with Joseph and extended kindness to him, and gave him favor in the sight of the warden of the prison. And the warden of the prison put Joseph in charge of all the prisoners who were in the prison; so that whatever was done there, he was responsible for it.The warden of the prison did not supervise anything under Joseph’s authority, because the Lord was with him; and, the Lord made whatever he did prosper.

For if I do this voluntarily, I have a reward; but if against my will, I have been entrusted with a commission nonetheless. What, then, is my reward? That, when I preach the gospel, I may offer the gospel without charge, so as not to make full use of my right in the gospel.
