Ezra 4:24-5:2
Then ceased the work of the house of God which[ is] at Jerusalem. So it ceased unto the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.Then the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied unto the Jews that[ were] in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel,[ even] unto them.Then rose up Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and began to build the house of God which[ is] at Jerusalem: and with them[ were] the prophets of God helping them.

But in the first year of Cyrus the king of Babylon[ the same] king Cyrus made a decree to build this house of God.

And the God that hath caused his name to dwell there destroy all kings and people, that shall put to their hand to alter[ and] to destroy this house of God which[ is] at Jerusalem. I Darius have made a decree; let it be done with speed.Then Tatnai, governor on this side the river, Shetharboznai, and their companions, according to that which Darius the king had sent, so they did speedily.

Ezra 1:1-4
Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and[ put it] also in writing, saying,Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which[ is] in Judah.Who[ is there] among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which[ is] in Judah, and build the house of the LORD God of Israel,( he[ is] the God,) which[ is] in Jerusalem.And whosoever remaineth in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, beside the freewill offering for the house of God that[ is] in Jerusalem.

The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you.

Ezra 4:3
But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the chief of the fathers of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an house unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the LORD God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us.

Now in the second year of their coming unto the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the remnant of their brethren the priests and the Levites, and all they that were come out of the captivity unto Jerusalem; and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to set forward the work of the house of the LORD.

Zechariah 2:1-4
I lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand.Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what[ is] the breadth thereof, and what[ is] the length thereof.And, behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him,And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited[ as] towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein:

Haggai 2:2-15
Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and to the residue of the people, saying,Who[ is] left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now?[ is it] not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing?Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the LORD; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the LORD, and work: for I[ am] with you, saith the LORD of hosts:[ According to] the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, so my spirit remaineth among you: fear ye not.For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it[ is] a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry[ land];And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts.The silver[ is] mine, and the gold[ is] mine, saith the LORD of hosts.The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts.In the four and twentieth[ day] of the ninth[ month], in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Ask now the priests[ concerning] the law, saying,If one bear holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt do touch bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any meat, shall it be holy? And the priests answered and said, No.Then said Haggai, If[ one that is] unclean by a dead body touch any of these, shall it be unclean? And the priests answered and said, It shall be unclean.Then answered Haggai, and said, So[ is] this people, and so[ is] this nation before me, saith the LORD; and so[ is] every work of their hands; and that which they offer there[ is] unclean.And now, I pray you, consider from this day and upward, from before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the LORD:

That saith of Cyrus,[ He is] my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.

Zechariah 6:1-15
And I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came four chariots out from between two mountains; and the mountains[ were] mountains of brass.In the first chariot[ were] red horses; and in the second chariot black horses;And in the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot grisled and bay horses.Then I answered and said unto the angel that talked with me, What[ are] these, my lord?And the angel answered and said unto me, These[ are] the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth.The black horses which[ are] therein go forth into the north country; and the white go forth after them; and the grisled go forth toward the south country.And the bay went forth, and sought to go that they might walk to and fro through the earth: and he said, Get you hence, walk to and fro through the earth. So they walked to and fro through the earth.Then cried he upon me, and spake unto me, saying, Behold, these that go toward the north country have quieted my spirit in the north country.And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,Take of[ them of] the captivity,[ even] of Heldai, of Tobijah, and of Jedaiah, which are come from Babylon, and come thou the same day, and go into the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah;Then take silver and gold, and make crowns, and set[ them] upon the head of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest;And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name[ is] The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD:Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.And the crowns shall be to Helem, and to Tobijah, and to Jedaiah, and to Hen the son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in the temple of the LORD.And they[ that are] far off shall come and build in the temple of the LORD, and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you. And[ this] shall come to pass, if ye will diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God.
