Then Aram’s King Rezin and Israel’s King Pekah son of Remaliah came to wage war against Jerusalem. They besieged Ahaz but were not able to conquer him.At that time Rezin king of Aram recovered Elath for Aram and expelled the Judahites from Elath. Then the Arameans came to Elath, and they live there until today.So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, saying,“ I am your servant and your son. March up and save me from the power of the king of Aram and of the king of Israel, who are rising up against me.”

This is what the Lord God says: Because your lust was poured out and your nakedness exposed by your acts of prostitution with your lovers, and because of all your detestable idols and the blood of your children that you gave to them,I am therefore going to gather all the lovers you pleased— all those you loved as well as all those you hated. Ahaz was also handed over to the king of Israel, who struck him with great force:Pekah son of Remaliah killed 120,000 in Judah in one day— all brave men— because they had abandoned the Lord God of their ancestors.
