I have assigned you 40 days, a day for each year.You must turn your face toward the siege of Jerusalem with your arm bared, and prophesy against it.Be aware that I will put cords on you so you cannot turn from side to side until you have finished the days of your siege.

He had sent envoys to So king of Egypt and had not paid tribute money to the king of Assyria as in previous years. Therefore the king of Assyria arrested him and put him in prison.Then the king of Assyria invaded the whole land, marched up to Samaria, and besieged it for three years.In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria captured Samaria. He deported the Israelites to Assyria and settled them in Halah and by the Habor, Gozan’s river, and in the cities of the Medes.
