Luke 6:34-38
And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners in order to receive back the same amount. But love your enemies and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil people.Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.“ Do not judge, and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon, and you will be pardoned.Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure— pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.”

So I thought it over and contended with the nobles and the leading people, and said to them,“ You are lending at interest, each to his brother!” Therefore, I held a great assembly against them. And I said to them,“ We, according to our ability, have redeemed our Jewish brothers who were sold to the nations; now would you even sell your brothers that they may be sold to us?” Then they were silent and could not find a word to say.So I said,“ The thing which you are doing is not good; should you not walk in the fear of our God because of the taunting of the nations, our enemies? And likewise I, my brothers, and my servants are lending them money and grain. Please, let’s do without this interest. Please, give back to them this very day their fields, their vineyards, their olive groves, and their houses, as well as the hundredth part of the money and of the grain, the new wine, and the oil that you are charging as interest from them.”

Matthew 18:25-35
But since he did not have the means to repay, his master commanded that he be sold, along with his wife and children and all that he had, and repayment be made.So the slave fell to the ground and prostrated himself before him, saying,‘ Have patience with me and I will repay you everything.’And the master of that slave felt compassion, and he released him and forgave him the debt. But that slave went out and found one of his fellow slaves who owed him a hundred denarii; and he seized him and began to choke him, saying,‘ Pay back what you owe!’So his fellow slave fell to the ground and began to plead with him, saying,‘ Have patience with me and I will repay you.’But he was unwilling, and went and threw him in prison until he would pay back what was owed.So when his fellow slaves saw what had happened, they were deeply grieved and came and reported to their master all that had happened. Then summoning him, his master* said to him,‘ You wicked slave, I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me.Should you not also have had mercy on your fellow slave, in the same way that I had mercy on you?’And his master, moved with anger, handed him over to the torturers until he would repay all that was owed him.My heavenly Father will also do the same to you, if each of you does not forgive his brother from your heart.”
