Luke 6:34-38
And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do what is good, and lend, expecting nothing in return. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High. For he is gracious to the ungrateful and evil.Be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.“ Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.Give, and it will be given to you; a good measure— pressed down, shaken together, and running over— will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.”

Hear this, you who trample on the needy and do away with the poor of the land, asking,“ When will the New Moon be over so we may sell grain, and the Sabbath, so we may market wheat? After seriously considering the matter, I accused the nobles and officials, saying to them,“ Each of you is charging his countrymen interest.” So I called a large assembly against themand said,“ We have done our best to buy back our Jewish countrymen who were sold to foreigners, but now you sell your own countrymen, and we have to buy them back.” They remained silent and could not say a word. Then I said,“ What you are doing isn’t right. Shouldn’t you walk in the fear of our God and not invite the reproach of our foreign enemies?Even I, as well as my brothers and my servants, have been lending them money and grain. Please, let’s stop charging this interest.Return their fields, vineyards, olive groves, and houses to them immediately, along with the percentage of the money, grain, new wine, and fresh oil that you have been assessing them.”

Since he did not have the money to pay it back, his master commanded that he, his wife, his children, and everything he had be sold to pay the debt.“ At this, the servant fell facedown before him and said,‘ Be patient with me, and I will pay you everything.’Then the master of that servant had compassion, released him, and forgave him the loan.“ That servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii. He grabbed him, started choking him, and said,‘ Pay what you owe!’“ At this, his fellow servant fell down and began begging him,‘ Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.’But he wasn’t willing. Instead, he went and threw him into prison until he could pay what was owed. When the other servants saw what had taken place, they were deeply distressed and went and reported to their master everything that had happened. Then, after he had summoned him, his master said to him,‘ You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me.Shouldn’t you also have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?’And because he was angry, his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured until he could pay everything that was owed.So also my heavenly Father will do to you unless every one of you forgives his brother or sister from your heart.”
