1 Chronicles 15 1-1 Chronicles 15 17
Now David built houses for himself in the city of David; and he prepared a place for the ark of God and pitched a tent for it.Then David said,“ No one is to carry the ark of God except the Levites; for the Lord chose them to carry the ark of the Lord and to serve Him forever.”And David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the Lord to its place which he had prepared for it.David gathered together the sons of Aaron and the Levites:of the sons of Kohath, Uriel the chief, and 120 of his relatives;of the sons of Merari, Asaiah the chief, and 220 of his relatives;of the sons of Gershom, Joel the chief, and 130 of his relatives;of the sons of Elizaphan, Shemaiah the chief, and two hundred of his relatives;of the sons of Hebron, Eliel the chief, and eighty of his relatives;of the sons of Uzziel, Amminadab the chief, and 112 of his relatives. Then David called for the priests Zadok and Abiathar, and for the Levites, for Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab;and he said to them,“ You are the heads of the fathers’ households of the Levites; consecrate yourselves, you and your relatives, so that you may bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel to the place that I have prepared for it.Because you did not carry it at the first, the Lord our God made an outburst against us, since we did not seek Him according to the ordinance.”So the priests and the Levites consecrated themselves to bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel. The sons of the Levites carried the ark of God on their shoulders with the poles on them, just as Moses had commanded in accordance with the word of the Lord. Then David spoke to the chiefs of the Levites to appoint their relatives as the singers, with musical instruments, harps, lyres, and cymbals, playing to raise sounds of joy.So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel, and from his relatives, Asaph the son of Berechiah; and from the sons of Merari their relatives, Ethan the son of Kushaiah,

2 Samuel 6 1-2 Samuel 6 23
Now David again gathered all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand. And David departed from Baale judah, with all the people who were with him, to bring up from there the ark of God which is called by the Name, the very name of the Lord of armies who is enthroned above the cherubim. They had mounted the ark of God on a new cart and moved it from the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill; and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, were leading the new cart.So they brought it with the ark of God from the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill; and Ahio was walking ahead of the ark.Meanwhile, David and all the house of Israel were celebrating before the Lord with all kinds of instruments made of juniper wood, and with lyres, harps, tambourines, castanets, and cymbals. But when they came to the threshing floor of Nacon, Uzzah reached out toward the ark of God and took hold of it, because the oxen nearly overturned it.And the anger of the Lord burned against Uzzah, and God struck him down there for his irreverence; and he died there by the ark of God.Then David became angry because of the Lord’s outburst against Uzzah; and that place has been called Perez uzzah to this day.So David was afraid of the Lord that day; and he said,“ How can the ark of the Lord come to me?”And David was unwilling to move the ark of the Lord into the city of David with him; but David took it aside to the house of Obed edom, the Gittite. The ark of the Lord remained in the house of Obed edom the Gittite for three months, and the Lord blessed Obed edom and all his household. Now it was reported to King David, saying,“ The Lord has blessed the house of Obed edom and all that belongs to him, on account of the ark of God.” So David went and brought the ark of God up from the house of Obed edom to the city of David with joy.And so it was, that when those carrying the ark of the Lord marched six paces, he sacrificed an ox and a fattened steer. And David was dancing before the Lord with all his strength, and David was wearing a linen ephod. So David and all the house of Israel were bringing up the ark of the Lord with joyful shouting and the sound of the trumpet. Then it happened, as the ark of the Lord was coming into the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looked down through the window and saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord; and she was contemptuous of him in her heart. Now they brought in the ark of the Lord and set it in its place inside the tent which David had pitched for it; and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord. When David had finished offering the burnt offering and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord of armies.Further, he distributed to all the people, to all the multitude of Israel, both to men and women, a cake of bread, one of dates, and one of raisins to each one. Then all the people left, each to his house. But when David returned to bless his own household, Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David and said,“ How the king of Israel dignified himself today! For he exposed himself today in the sight of his servants’ female slaves, as one of the rabble shamelessly exposes himself!”But David said to Michal,“ I was before the Lord, who preferred me to your father and to all his house, to appoint me as ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel. So I will celebrate before the Lord! And I might demean myself even more than this and be lowly in my own sight, but with the female slaves of whom you have spoken, with them I am to be held in honor!”And Michal the daughter of Saul had no child to the day of her death.

Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth is crossing over ahead of you into the Jordan. Now then, take for yourselves twelve men from the tribes of Israel, one man for each tribe. And it will come about when the soles of the feet of the priests who carry the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, rest in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan will be cut off, that is, the waters which are flowing down from above; and they will stand in one heap.”So when the people set out from their tents to cross the Jordan, with the priests carrying the ark of the covenant before the people, and when those who were carrying the ark came up to the Jordan and the feet of the priests carrying the ark stepped down into the edge of the water( for the Jordan overflows all its banks all the days of harvest),then the waters which were flowing down from above stood and rose up in one heap, a great distance away at Adam, the city that is beside Zarethan; and those which were flowing down toward the sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, were completely cut off. So the people crossed opposite Jericho. And the priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan while all Israel crossed on dry ground, until all the nation had finished crossing the Jordan.
