  • Deuteronomy 14:16 - the little owl, the great owl, the white owl,
  • Deuteronomy 14:17 - the pelican, the carrion vulture, the cormorant,
  • Deuteronomy 14:18 - the stork, and the heron in their kinds, and the hoopoe and the bat.
  • Deuteronomy 14:19 - And all the swarming insects with wings are unclean to you; they shall not be eaten.
  • Deuteronomy 14:20 - You may eat any clean bird.
  • Deuteronomy 14:21 - “You shall not eat anything which dies of itself. You may give it to the stranger who is in your town, so that he may eat it, or you may sell it to a stranger; for you are a holy people to the Lord your God. You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.
  • Deuteronomy 14:22 - “You shall certainly tithe all the produce from what you sow, which comes from the field every year.
  • Deuteronomy 14:23 - You shall eat in the presence of the Lord your God, at the place where He chooses to establish His name, the tithe of your grain, your new wine, your oil, and the firstborn of your herd and your flock, so that you may learn to fear the Lord your God always.
  • Deuteronomy 14:24 - But if the distance is so great for you that you are not able to bring the tithe, since the place where the Lord your God chooses to set His name is too far away from you when the Lord your God blesses you,
  • Deuteronomy 14:25 - then you shall exchange it for money, and bind the money in your hand and go to the place which the Lord your God chooses.
  • Deuteronomy 14:26 - And you may spend the money on whatever your heart desires: on oxen, sheep, wine, other strong drink, or whatever your heart desires; and there you shall eat in the presence of the Lord your God and rejoice, you and your household.
  • Deuteronomy 14:27 - Also you shall not neglect the Levite who is in your town, for he has no portion or inheritance among you.
  • Deuteronomy 14:28 - “At the end of every third year you shall bring out all the tithe of your produce in that year, and you shall deposit it in your town.
  • Deuteronomy 14:29 - And the Levite, because he has no portion or inheritance among you, and the stranger, the orphan, and the widow who are in your town, shall come and eat and be satisfied, in order that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.
  • Leviticus 11:1 - The Lord spoke again to Moses and to Aaron, saying to them,
  • Leviticus 11:2 - “Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘These are the creatures which you may eat from all the animals that are on the earth.
  • Leviticus 11:3 - Whatever has a divided hoof, showing split hoofs, and chews the cud, among the animals, that you may eat.
  • Leviticus 11:4 - Nevertheless, you are not to eat of these, among those which chew the cud, or among those which have a divided hoof: the camel, for though it chews cud, it does not have a divided hoof; it is unclean to you.
  • Leviticus 11:5 - Likewise, the rock hyrax, for though it chews cud, it does not have a divided hoof; it is unclean to you.
  • Leviticus 11:6 - The rabbit also, for though it chews cud, it does not have a divided hoof; it is unclean to you.
  • Leviticus 11:7 - And the pig, for though it has a divided hoof, and so it shows a split hoof, it does not chew cud; it is unclean to you.
  • Leviticus 11:8 - You shall not eat any of their flesh nor touch their carcasses; they are unclean to you.
  • Leviticus 11:9 - ‘These you may eat, of whatever is in the water: everything that has fins and scales, in the water, in the seas, or in the rivers, you may eat.
  • Leviticus 11:10 - But whatever is in the seas and in the rivers that does not have fins and scales among all the teeming life of the water, and among all the living creatures that are in the water, they are detestable things to you,
  • Leviticus 11:11 - and they shall be detestable to you; you may not eat any of their flesh, and you shall detest their carcasses.
  • Leviticus 11:12 - Whatever in the water does not have fins and scales is detestable to you.
  • Leviticus 11:13 - ‘Moreover, these you shall detest among the birds; they are detestable, not to be eaten: the eagle, the vulture, and the buzzard,
  • Leviticus 11:14 - the red kite, the falcon in its kind,
  • Leviticus 11:15 - every raven in its kind,
  • Leviticus 11:16 - the ostrich, the owl, the seagull, and the hawk in its kind,
  • Leviticus 11:17 - the little owl, the cormorant, and the great owl,
  • Leviticus 11:18 - the white owl, the pelican, and the carrion vulture,
  • Leviticus 11:19 - the stork, the heron in its kinds, the hoopoe, and the bat.
  • Leviticus 11:20 - ‘All the winged insects that walk on all fours are detestable to you.
  • Leviticus 11:21 - Yet these you may eat among all the winged insects that walk on all fours: those which have jointed legs above their feet with which to jump on the earth.
  • Leviticus 11:22 - These of them you may eat: the locust in its kinds, the devastating locust in its kinds, the cricket in its kinds, and the grasshopper in its kinds.
  • Leviticus 11:23 - But all other winged insects which are four-footed are detestable to you.
  • Leviticus 11:24 - ‘By these, moreover, you will be made unclean; whoever touches their carcasses becomes unclean until evening,
  • Leviticus 11:25 - and whoever picks up any of their carcasses shall wash his clothes and be unclean until evening.
  • Acts 10:28 - And he said to them, “You yourselves know that it is forbidden for a Jewish man to associate with or visit a foreigner; and yet God has shown me that I am not to call any person unholy or unclean.

  • Leviticus 20:25 - You are therefore to make a distinction between the clean animal and the unclean, and between the unclean bird and the clean; and you shall not make yourselves detestable by animal or by bird, or by anything that crawls on the ground, which I have distinguished for you as unclean.
