Luke 9:48
Then he said to them,“ Anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me also welcomes my Father who sent me. Whoever is the least among you is the greatest.”

Titus 1:7-16
A church leader is a manager of God’s household, so he must live a blameless life. He must not be arrogant or quick tempered; he must not be a heavy drinker, violent, or dishonest with money.Rather, he must enjoy having guests in his home, and he must love what is good. He must live wisely and be just. He must live a devout and disciplined life.He must have a strong belief in the trustworthy message he was taught; then he will be able to encourage others with wholesome teaching and show those who oppose it where they are wrong. For there are many rebellious people who engage in useless talk and deceive others. This is especially true of those who insist on circumcision for salvation. They must be silenced, because they are turning whole families away from the truth by their false teaching. And they do it only for money.Even one of their own men, a prophet from Crete, has said about them,“ The people of Crete are all liars, cruel animals, and lazy gluttons.”This is true. So reprimand them sternly to make them strong in the faith. They must stop listening to Jewish myths and the commands of people who have turned away from the truth.Everything is pure to those whose hearts are pure. But nothing is pure to those who are corrupt and unbelieving, because their minds and consciences are corrupted.Such people claim they know God, but they deny him by the way they live. They are detestable and disobedient, worthless for doing anything good.

Luke 22:24-27
Then they began to argue among themselves about who would be the greatest among them.Jesus told them,“ In this world the kings and great men lord it over their people, yet they are called‘ friends of the people.’But among you it will be different. Those who are the greatest among you should take the lowest rank, and the leader should be like a servant.Who is more important, the one who sits at the table or the one who serves? The one who sits at the table, of course. But not here! For I am among you as one who serves.

Mark 9:34
But they didn’t answer, because they had been arguing about which of them was the greatest.

Matthew 23:4-8
They crush people with unbearable religious demands and never lift a finger to ease the burden.“ Everything they do is for show. On their arms they wear extra wide prayer boxes with Scripture verses inside, and they wear robes with extra long tassels. And they love to sit at the head table at banquets and in the seats of honor in the synagogues. They love to receive respectful greetings as they walk in the marketplaces, and to be called‘ Rabbi.’“ Don’t let anyone call you‘ Rabbi,’ for you have only one teacher, and all of you are equal as brothers and sisters.

Matthew 20:20-28
Then the mother of James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to Jesus with her sons. She knelt respectfully to ask a favor.“ What is your request?” he asked. She replied,“ In your Kingdom, please let my two sons sit in places of honor next to you, one on your right and the other on your left.”But Jesus answered by saying to them,“ You don’t know what you are asking! Are you able to drink from the bitter cup of suffering I am about to drink?”“ Oh yes,” they replied,“ we are able!”Jesus told them,“ You will indeed drink from my bitter cup. But I have no right to say who will sit on my right or my left. My Father has prepared those places for the ones he has chosen.”When the ten other disciples heard what James and John had asked, they were indignant. But Jesus called them together and said,“ You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them. But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Philippians 2:3-5
Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.

Matthew 10:40-42
“ Anyone who receives you receives me, and anyone who receives me receives the Father who sent me.If you receive a prophet as one who speaks for God, you will be given the same reward as a prophet. And if you receive righteous people because of their righteousness, you will be given a reward like theirs. And if you give even a cup of cold water to one of the least of my followers, you will surely be rewarded.”
