  • 1 Kings 20 13-1 Kings 20 21
Now behold, a prophet approached Ahab king of Israel, and said,“ This is what the Lord says:‘ Have you seen all this great multitude? Behold, I am going to hand them over to you today, and you shall know that I am the Lord.’ ”But Ahab said,“ By whom?” So he said,“ The Lord says this:‘ By the young men of the leaders of the provinces.’ ” Then he said,“ Who will begin the battle?” And he said,“ You will.”So he mustered the young men of the leaders of the provinces, and there were 232; and after them he mustered all the people, all the sons of Israel: seven thousand. They went out at noon, while Ben hadad was drinking himself drunk in the temporary shelters with the thirty two kings who were helping him.The young men of the leaders of the provinces went out first; and Ben hadad sent out scouts, and they reported to him, saying,“ Men have come out from Samaria.”Then he said,“ If they have come out for peace, take them alive; or if they have come out for war, take them alive as well.”So these men went out from the city, the young men of the leaders of the provinces, and the army which followed them. And they killed, each one, his man; and the Arameans fled and Israel pursued them, and Ben hadad the king of Aram escaped on a horse with horsemen. The king of Israel also went out and struck the horses and chariots, and killed the Arameans in a great slaughter.

Then a man of God approached and spoke to the king of Israel, and said,“ This is what the Lord says:‘ Since the Arameans have said,“ The Lord is a god of mountains, but He is not a god of valleys,” therefore I will hand over to you all this great multitude, and you shall know that I am the Lord.’ ”So they camped, one opposite the other, for seven days. And on the seventh day the battle was joined, and the sons of Israel killed of the Arameans a hundred thousand foot soldiers in a single day.But the rest fled to Aphek into the city, and the wall fell on twenty seven thousand men who were left. And Ben hadad fled and came into the city, going from one inner room to another.

  • 2 Chronicles 13 5-2 Chronicles 13 16
Do you not know that the Lord God of Israel gave the rule over Israel forever to David and his sons by a covenant of salt?Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, rose up and rebelled against his master, and worthless men gathered to him, wicked men, who proved too strong for Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, when he was young and timid and could not hold his own against them.“ So now you intend to assert yourselves against the kingdom of the Lord through the sons of David, being a great multitude and having with you the golden calves which Jeroboam made for you as gods.Have you not driven out the priests of the Lord, the sons of Aaron and the Levites, and made for yourselves priests like the peoples of other lands? Whoever comes to consecrate himself with a bull and seven rams, even he may become a priest of things that are not gods. But as for us, the Lord is our God, and we have not abandoned Him; and the sons of Aaron are ministering to the Lord as priests, and the Levites attend to their work.Every morning and evening they burn to the Lord burnt offerings and fragrant incense, and the showbread is set on the clean table, and the golden lampstand with its lamps is ready to light every evening; for we perform our duty to the Lord our God, but you have abandoned Him.Now behold, God is with us at our head, and His priests with the signal trumpets to sound the war cry against you. Sons of Israel, do not fight against the Lord God of your fathers, for you will not succeed.”But Jeroboam had set an ambush to come from behind, so that Israel was in front of Judah and the ambush was behind them. When Judah turned around, behold, they were attacked both from front and rear; so they cried out to the Lord, and the priests blew the trumpets. Then the men of Judah raised a war cry, and when the men of Judah raised the war cry, God defeated Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah. When the sons of Israel fled from Judah, God handed them over to them.
