When they had carried out everything that was written concerning Him, they took Him down from the cross and laid Him in a tomb. But God raised Him from the dead;and for many days He appeared to those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, the very ones who are now His witnesses to the people. And we preach to you the good news of the promise made to the fathers, that God has fulfilled this promise to those of us who are the descendants by raising Jesus, as it is also written in the second Psalm:‘ You are My Son; today I have fathered You.’As for the fact that He raised Him from the dead, never again to return to decay, He has spoken in this way:‘ I will give you the holy and faithful mercies of David.’Therefore, He also says in another Psalm:‘ You will not allow Your Holy One to undergo decay.’For David, after he had served God’s purpose in his own generation, fell asleep, and was buried among his fathers and underwent decay;but He whom God raised did not undergo decay.

Isaiah 53:9-12
And His grave was assigned with wicked men, Yet He was with a rich man in His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was there any deceit in His mouth. But the Lord desired To crush Him, causing Him grief; If He renders Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, And the good pleasure of the Lord will prosper in His hand.As a result of the anguish of His soul, He will see it and be satisfied; By His knowledge the Righteous One, My Servant, will justify the many, For He will bear their wrongdoings. Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great, And He will divide the plunder with the strong, Because He poured out His life unto death, And was counted with wrongdoers; Yet He Himself bore the sin of many, And interceded for the wrongdoers.

For if the dead are not raised, then not even Christ has been raised;and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins. Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If we have hoped in Christ only in this life, we are of all people most to be pitied. But the fact is, Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep. For since by a man death came, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead.

Acts 2:23-33
this Man, delivered over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death. But God raised Him from the dead, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power. For David says of Him,‘ I saw the Lord continually before me, Because He is at my right hand, so that I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart was glad and my tongue was overjoyed; Moreover my flesh also will live in hope; For You will not abandon my soul to Hades, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to undergo decay. You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of gladness with Your presence.’“ Brothers, I may confidently say to you regarding the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.So because he was a prophet and knew that God had sworn to him with an oath to seat one of his descendants on his throne,he looked ahead and spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that He was neither abandoned to Hades, nor did His flesh suffer decay. It is this Jesus whom God raised up, a fact to which we are all witnesses. Therefore, since He has been exalted at the right hand of God, and has received the promise of the Holy Spirit from the Father, He has poured out this which you both see and hear.

Now after these things Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but a secret one for fear of the Jews, requested of Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus; and Pilate granted permission. So he came and took away His body.Nicodemus, who had first come to Him by night, also came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred litras weight. So they took the body of Jesus and bound it in linen wrappings with the spices, as is the burial custom of the Jews. Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden was a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid. Therefore because of the Jewish day of preparation, since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there. Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene* came early to the tomb, while it was still dark, and* saw the stone already removed from the tomb.So she* ran and* came to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and* said to them,“ They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we do not know where they have put Him.”So Peter and the other disciple left, and they were going to the tomb. The two were running together; and the other disciple ran ahead, faster than Peter, and came to the tomb first;and he stooped to look in, and* saw the linen wrappings lying there; however he did not go in.So Simon Peter also* came, following him, and he entered the tomb; and he* looked at the linen wrappings lying there, and the face cloth which had been on His head, not lying with the linen wrappings but folded up in a place by itself. So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb also entered then, and he saw and believed. For they did not yet understand the Scripture, that He must rise from the dead.
