Judges 2:14-18
Then the anger of the Lord burned against Israel, and He handed them over to plunderers, and they plundered them; and He sold them into the hands of their enemies around them, so that they could no longer stand against their enemies.Wherever they went, the hand of the Lord was against them for evil, as the Lord had spoken and just as the Lord had sworn to them, so that they were severely distressed. Then the Lord raised up judges who saved them from the hands of those who plundered them.Yet they did not listen to their judges, for they committed infidelity with other gods and bowed down to them. They turned aside quickly from the way in which their fathers had walked in obeying the commandments of the Lord; they did not do the same as their fathers. And when the Lord raised up judges for them, the Lord was with the judge and saved them from the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for the Lord was moved to pity by their groaning because of those who tormented and oppressed them.

You have also made my enemies turn their backs to me, And I destroyed those who hated me.They cried for help, but there was no one to save, They cried to the Lord, but He did not answer them. Then I beat them fine like the dust before the wind; I emptied them out like the mud of the streets. You have rescued me from the contentions of the people; You have placed me as head of the nations; A people whom I have not known serve me.As soon as they hear, they obey me; Foreigners pretend to obey me.Foreigners lose heart, And come trembling out of their fortresses. The Lord lives, and blessed be my rock; And exalted be the God of my salvation,The God who executes vengeance for me, And subdues peoples under me.He rescues me from my enemies; You indeed lift me above those who rise up against me; You rescue me from a violent man. Therefore I will give thanks to You among the nations, Lord, And I will sing praises to Your name.He gives great salvation to His king, And shows faithfulness to His anointed, To David and his descendants forever.
